    Ok I made it through the weekend and I have no idea how. We went out to dinner last night and I just stared at the buns in the middle of the table and took all the croutons out of my salad. Tonight we went to an Italian Restaurant and while everyone else had pasta I had chicken and salad! Can't believe I made it!!! I made it through Day 6!! WOOOHOOOOOO

            Hey folks! Monster of a day and I just sat down and drowned my troubles with a jar of peanut butter. (For reference, I have seven older brothers and two older sisters). I had an appointment at UVA this morning and as I was coming in the door with an arm load of 'stuff' the phone was ringing off the hook. It was my sister-in-law telling me that my second to oldest brother (79) had been transferred to UVA (Charlottesville, VA) and was about to undergo brain surgery. He was fine yesterday, and had a big write up on the front page of today's paper for the benefit concert he promoted to buy 600 kids toys & clothes for Christmas. I threw my stuff down and got back in the car (forgot all my meds) and headed back over the mountain. By the time I got there, they had done another MRI and found a mass in his lung, so they did a lung biopsy, first. Three doctors; three opinions. The first neuro guy said he had an egg-sized tumor on the right front brain and two small ones on the back left. Enter the next neuro after the MRI--he said that he thought none of them were tumors, but infection that had spread from his lungs to his brain. After the lung guy got finished with the biopsy, he said he was almost certain that everything was tumors/cancer which had metastasized. He will know more in two days when they get the results of the biopsy.

            Then, my youngest brother's cell phone rings and it is my niece, my oldest (83) sister's daughter, calling from Crossville, Tennessee, to tell us that our sister is in the hospital there with a tumor in the front right brain and an aneurysm in the back of her brain.

            I'm so far behind on my meds, I won't be able to catch up. I don't know whether I'm coming or going. It's been a long time since I drowned my troubles in food. Good thing none of us ever drank or smoked, for that matter! It felt really odd being at UVA as a visitor wearing a visitor pass instead of a patient bracelet. My brother is only a few doors down from the room where I was a patient for tree weeks last summer. All the nurses remembered me. One of the neuros is my doctor, too.

              OMG Sunny, I am so sorry!!! Hang in there and if you do drown your sorrows in food I think we would all be sympathetic. Take it easy and make sure you get back on your meds!

                    Day 1 done, again. I made it through day 1, again, but boy was that peanut butter still calling me. I was craving all day and finally went to bed early to keep myself from eating. This is why I need to stay away from that evil stuff. This type of stuff goes on in my life all the time, so I just need to learn to deal with it without resorting to food.

                    Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts. I don't know anything new on either sibling. I might get some news today on my brother. My sister's doctor is taking a watch and wait position.

                          I think the hardest thing to do is to sit across from someone while you eat your salad with chunks of chicken and they sit and eat french fries with gravy and a loaded hot dog. And I thought as the days go by it would get easier and easier. NOT

                              Depends what phase you are in. I guess if you are in Induction, eating anything not on the list of acceptable foods & going over 20 net carbs. I have been at this for over two years and have lost 120 pounds, so I have some things that I, personally, consider cheating, because I have found certain legal foods stall me and some are trigger foods that I have no control over intake and make me crave. This list includes most dairy, peanut butter and all tree nuts, so I include those as cheats. I also have vowed not to eat after 7:00 p.m., so for me to do so, that is a cheat. It's kinda up to you.
