Re: New YOU in the New Year's Challenge

So my knee today wasn't all that bad this morning...and then I over did it .... So I'm going to take it down another notch back to just bed/bathroom lol.

I understand the bloated feeling Norha...I'm ubber bloated, backed up due to tooooo much meds. I've had a muffin in a minute both yesterday and today and taking laxitives and eating my greens, and yet still getting fuller. GROSS.

I hope I don't have to break down and drink prune juice.

Anyhow, my recovery is going well (beside the little over doin it today). I'm going to take a shower yippy!!!!!!!

    Hugs

Re: New YOU in the New Year's Challenge

Hi, I'm a newbie and this will be the first challenge I sign up for. I've already set a goal for myself to get to 200lbs or lower by Xmas so I guess I can reasonably push it to another 5lbs by New Years. That ought to keep me out of the Xmas trifle! I expect I'll be re-reading that thread about the reasons people have not not eat junk frequently this holiday season...

MissLiss...that is the worst feeling in the world....isnt it? I had the same trouble after abdominal surgery.
You need to call your doctor and let them know you are having trouble.
There is a product called Colace, generic form is Ducosate Sodium. They come in little red capsules and No sugar ( I think...double check). THey are a softner...not a laxative and many surgeons will prescribe them to offset that constipating side effect of the Narcotics. Call the doctor and ask if you can take these or if they suggest something else. They are mild enough to do the trick without getting you up half a dozen times in an hour.
          I hope you feel better

                  Heavenly Rose-
I Just realized I submitted my post without an explanation
I was Trying to figure out this morning what my average weightloss a week would need to be for me to get into One-derland by new years. I have 23 pounds to go and 7 weeks until goal time. I was a little daunted by the fact that I would need to lose a fraction over 3 pounds each week.
For those of you who dont know I am a huge 'Biggest loser fan". I love Jillian.....she's mean and strong and combines weight loss strategy with examining the psychological reason we are fat and then customizes a weight loss plan to lose our maximum of a half a pound a day. According to her scientifically speaking a womans body can only lose a half a pound of fat a day.If there is anyone on this board who has consistantly lost weight without a stall and has lost more than that...Please tell us about it!
If what Jillian says is true then I could lose 3.5 pounds every week by exercising like a lunatic. I really wanted to take Saturday and Sunday off from my workouts and let my body rest, but that would mean probably not making it to One-derland.
                  Hmmmm....that sucks.
Now YOU my dear, Heavenly Rose...CAN do it! You need to lose aproximatly 2.6 pounds a week. Which means you could cardio it up Mon-Fri with some weight training thrown in there and then take Sat and Sun off to give that body a rest and make your goal. Whats even nicer is that if you eat a little extra one day you could throw in an extra workout on sat or sun and the extra calories are as good as gone.
So now after this legnthy explanation..you know why I said CONGRATS on the 19 pounds to go.....you are in a great position to achieve your goals

Re: New YOU in the New Year's Challenge

                    Very insperational Razzle!

Welcome Sookie, we're very happy to have you joining this amazing group of people on this bulletin board and within the challenge. I've totally fallen in love with the support and advice that I get from being here. You meet such nice kind people...and the best part (or one of the best parts for me anyhow) is they are all really genuine people who care and do all in their power to impower you. They never just tell you what you want to hear, they tell you the truth and so much more. So again, welcome.

My knee pain is doing really well right now. I'm slowly backing of the percocets, of right now my last one (not two, last one) was 5 hours ago. So I think I'm doing very well with that. My goal is to take one every 6 hours or so today. Things started "moving" this morning, and though very very painful, I think things will continue that way more smoth now, soooo I may end up taking two every five hours if I have to get up out of bed a bit more today. But I'll do my best not to.

I really really happy that I'm not able to stand on the scale right now considering how I've been backed up and what not, but I am looking forward to standing on it in 5 more weeks. So I won't be able to tell ya'll tomorrw how much I'm down, if any at all.

I hope you all are doing great on your journies. Heavenly Rose, keep up the great work. I'm cheering you on!
                    Hugs ~

Hey MissLiss, thanks for the welcome. I'm sorry to hear you're laid up with your knee. You've probably tried this already but I feel compelled to ask you if putting ice on your knee for twenty minutes has helped. I know it doesn't sound very pleasant but I find when my joints don't want to be nice it makes me able to move more smoothly.

Sookie, Thank you for the advice. I was told to put ice on my knee for twenty minutes four times a day for the first two day and then use a heating pad twenty minutes a day four times a day there after. I tried the ice, but it actually made the incistions hurt worse, so I didn't do it any more after that. I refuse to try the heating pad because my knee is already so hot. I can't stand having a banket or anything over the top of it. I'm not sure why my knee is putting off so much heat. I told my husband last night that it feels like it may spontaneously combust, lol.

Ice sometimes hurts at first then blissfully, you feel no pain at all. I wish I knew something else for you to try besides giving it time.

I'm kinda late coming in so I'll say 20 pounds - that'd put me at about 190 for New Years. (If i'm 185 though, that'd be GREAT too - but let's keep this mini-goal higher so I don't feel too daunted. ^^)

I shoot for a challenge too.. I'll go for 20 pounds (just cuz Thanksgiving is coming up and I have no doubt that there will be a lil' bit of cheating involved..)

That would put me at 174.. for New Years..

If your knee feels "hot," that sounds like inflammation and adding heat to heat doesn't sound like a great idea ... if it still feels hot tomorrow, I'd recommend calling your doc. And give the ice another shot!
