Great challenge! And, I came across it just at the perfect time. I lost 6 lbs. during Induction, then stalled out. I decided to move on to OWL and have gone through Rungs 1, 2, and 4 over the past 7 weeks and am still stalled. No weight loss or inches so tonight I decided to go back to Rung 1 and start again from there. If there's something I'm doing wrong, maybe one of you guys will spot it when I post my menus.

:wave Hey! I am in! :icondance

          I am on ext. induction!

B: a turkey patty (with lc ketchup and mustard)

          a cup of broccoli/green beans

L: turkey burger, 1 c salad, Carb Well italian

D: not yet but....chicken and salad

Lilhoney: Do you have the recipe for the homemade lc cheesecake you made last week? Is it induction friendly (with my luck, probably not! :sadblinky)?

lisaaw: Are you exercising and how much? Are you drinking your water? Eating all your foods not skipping meals? veggies? Maybe you are going thru your rungs too fast? Maybe you need to stay at one for a few weeks before moving on? Just a thought. How long were you stalled on Induction?

            Hi lowcarbing4ever!

I stalled after a week and a half on Induction. I spent another week and a half.......waiting. Then someone suggested I add more veggies so I moved on to Rung 1. 2 weeks there....nothing. 2 weeks each on the other 2 rungs and still nothing. I ran into a few problem foods within the first 2 weeks of starting Atkin's and I think that may be the reason I'm stalled. I knew immediately that those foods were doing a number on me right after eating them but if I'm dealing with another food intolerance now, it is much more subtle and I'm not getting any noticable reaction. Going back to Rung 1 will narrow my food choices and simplify things, I hope. I'm keeping an accurate food log also so that should help.

I've had to learn to drink water, something I never did before Atkin's, but I've gotten pretty good at it. I've found it makes it so much easier to get my water in if I carry a bottle with me everywhere I go.

I know you asked someone else about the cheesecake and I'm sure they will share their recipe but I'll give you mine too. It's really simple, no frills, but good and it's Induction friendly if you exercise portion control. I just take 3 (8 oz.) pkgs. of cream cheese, beat in 3 eggs, add 1 cup of Splenda. Pour into a pie plate and bake at 350 for about 40 - 45 minutes.
If you cut it into 8 pieces and have only 1 piece a day, it's legal.

For the first day of the Keepin' It Simple challenge, I water fasted the first half of the day just so I could get off to a clean start. This evening I had:

Chili made with venison and my allotment of veggies (tomatoes, bell peppers, chile peppers, onion, garlic)
1 cup of Hood's low carb milk with sugar free chocolate syrup
            Coffee
            Water
            Diet Coke

My exercise today was 3.5 hours of gardening.

lisaaw, Thanks for the cheescake recipe! :joy

ensive hmmm.....from looking at your menu today, I see one issue: the Hood milk and chocolate syrup. Have you been drinking it even in induction? Because you can't have milk, even soy milk this early, and even on Rung 1. Were you eating a lot of low carb products (well, they call them frankenfoods but I think that is a little harsh sometimes! lol)? Maybe what you can try is going back to induction and eating just plain simple things as you can get it.

Like for me, I do not eat any bacon (for religious reasons as well), luncheon meats, hot dogs because that to me, and I think even for purity sake, is not "clean". Those foods are still processed to me. I eat now the same way I started and it seems to work well for me (maybe it can for you, too!). I just buy chicken, beef, ground turkey, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, eggs, mayo, tuna, etc. and then I make a turkey burger for break. with 1 c of veggies, usually broccoli. Then at lunch, I will eat tuna in mayo, with 3 eggs and 1 c. lettuce leaves, then for dinner chicken broiled, grilled, boiled, or baked with another cup of salad. I also grill some chicken breasts on my George Forman Grill and make chicken salads. I use my allotment of veggies sometimes to make a veggie omlete or I use ground turley or beef or a little of both. And of course, water, water, water!
I interchange the meals and ways of eating so I don't get seriously bored but there is some boredom but after my Sunday weigh in, my boredom vanishes! :nod I stay away from all products except for Carb Well salad dressings, Splenda and my Diet Rite; that is pretty much it. Did you try to keep it really, really basic? Maybe that will help you? I also did a fast for 2 days drinking water and fruit juice (watered down), before I started Atkins this time and that really seemed to help me. Not saying you should do it, just sayin'. Anyway, you really should give up the low carb Hood milk for now. Try to use as little as possible of low carb "products". :hug

Sharon! :yikes sister, you have got to eat more! Your menus are so bare! No veggies, eating only one thing, no variety. You need to eat better! :nod :hug

                  my menu today:
Breakf: Turkey burger ( I love these things)
                  1 c. broccoli

                  Lunch: grilled chicken breast
                  salad
                  1 can of Diet Rite

                  Dinner: chicken
                  salad

                      That's actually quite normal.

but if you really haven't lost any weight or inches since then, you do need to re-evaluate your menu.

I agree, you need to stop using the milk and chocolate syrup AND the diet Coke, because it contains aspartame and that's not allowed.

Keeping it Pure means fresh natural foods. :yes

Also, is your coffee decaf? If it isn't, make the switch over, asap.

Perhaps stay at Induction for a while, and then slowly start up the ladder again. Introducing new foods is tricky.

I don't find anything in the book other than Dr. Atkin's saying, for some people, coffee will lower their blood sugar and cause sweet cravings. It doesn't affect my blood sugar/cravings and I've not found anyone who says coffee kept them from losing or slowed down their weight loss. Is there another reason for switching to decaf that I missed in the book?

I wasn't using Hood's milk or the chocolate syrup when I was doing Induction. One cup of milk is 3 carbs and the chocolate syrup is 2 carbs for a tablespoon and 0 sugar so carb wise I didn't mess up but the chocolate syrup is sweetened with sorbitol. I'll avoid the chocolate milk in the future. Also, the Diet Coke which I found disgusting anyway. The diet pop I normally drink is sweetened with Splenda.

I'm not sure what you mean by "frankenfoods" but if you're referring to the low carb goodies like candy bars, etc., I haven't indulged in any of those yet. I have checked some of the labels though and it looks to me like they're playing a number's game. I don't eat any processed meats either like sausage, bacon, lunch meats, hot dogs or deli meats.

Here's my menu for today. Please let me know if you spot anything else.

                        B - Coffee
                        L - Chili
D - Pot Roast w/2 Tbls. Roasted Pablano Pepper Gravy (I made the gravy by adding the roasted peppers and some cream to the roast drippings and cooking it down a little)
Late night snack - Cup of shredded lettuce with salad shrimp, olive oil dressing.

I had 2 meetings today and forgot to take by bottled water with me so I didn't drink as much as I should have.

Moochiecat - I read the post about stalling during Induction. I took my measurements when I first started - upper arm, bust, waist, hips, upper thigh, lower thigh and calf. I took my measurements again today and still no change in the numbers but the outfit I was wearing seemed a tiny bit looser than it was the last time I wore it. I *might* be losing a little from somewhere I'm not measuring (armpits and around my ankles maybe? LOL!)
Also today, at one of my meetings, a lady commented that my face looked slimmer so maybe something IS happening that I'm unaware of.

lisaaw, that happened to me. :wave

I've only lost 4 pounds (almost 5, maybe tomorrow?) so far since March 15, 2005. However, I've lost over 8 inches, and that's only what I'm measuring. I lost right away 3 pounds and then nothing. Also, the measuring didn't show anything for a while but my clothes seemed, like you said, a tiny bit looser.

Keep at it, every week I think it should go faster, everyone else is loosing big but my clothes are continually getting more loose and I feel tons better. Maybe for some it just happens slower. :geek

I hope you all dont mind that I am joining in with you all!

I am back to induction as of Saturday. Although I have lost quite a bit so far, I had a Hysterectomy in October that started up the insulin spikes (I am a pre-diabetic) and I have been struggling the last few months. I was addicted to the Atkins breakfast bars as they had that "sweet" taste I was craving.

So I set a mini goal to not eat those bars for 6 weeks. Other than that, I am pretty pure, although I do eat Bacon and Sausage.

In order to get past the sugar cravings the 1st two weeks, I do have SF Jello in the fridge. I hope that is OK with you guys. It is in DANDR and it gets me through! (ususally around 7 pm is when I need it!)
