      Re: Anything Almond Flour...

I wish I could contribute something unique to this thread but since everyone on this board helped me figure out what to do with almond flour I have to bow to the wiser of us on this one...I do use it a lot instead of bread for fillers in things like meatballs and stuff ..and I do bake cakes with it once in a while...I have made cookies but they came out crappy for me so I bagged it

I buy mine from Trader Joes it is ground up almonds maybe not as fine as teh flour is but it is just as good and I kind of like the nuttiness of the coarser meal ....besides it is far cheaper per lb than the flour is ....

I adore hazelnut flour and was finding it along with pecan flour at TJs but not anymore so I grind what I need as I need it ...

                  Re: Anything Almond Flour...

Momma, I dont have a recipe but I used ground almonds (didnt have flour on hand at the time) to bread some cod and pan fry it. OMG so good. I thawed the fish, coated it with beaten egg that had salt and pepper and garlic powder mixed in, covered it in the ground almonds and fried it up. So yummy!

I agree dont make yours different from teh rest of the Fams! My fried chicken (with parm havent tried the almond yet) is a HUGE hit anytime I prepare it, even cold the next day. (My boss pilfered my leftovers during lunch one day! lol)

Where are you finding the almond flour so cheap????? I can't even find it here in Florida at all.....the health food stores can order it, it's the same price as powdered Gold!!!!! Funny thing is, I could get most unusual ingredients in little ol' Minot, North Dakota, and at a reasonable price!!!!! Here I am in the city.......and can't find sh*t!!!!! I've been out of almond flour for 8 months!!!!! I miss the pizza dough I made with it. It came out of Dana Carpenders 500 low carb recipes. Please, where can I get it?????? Thank you

Shmooziecat I have found it at Albertson's, at our local health food store, but it is expensive. Hey where are you in Florida? If there is a Whole Foods near you I'm sure they have it.
I found it the other day at www.netrition.com. And it was cheaper than I have seen it in any store around here.

I'm right around Fort Walton Beach/Destin area. I've never noticed a whole foods store, or an albertsons. I'll look that up. We have a "publix, and Win Dixie". I thought this larger area would have more, but Minot beats them so far! Never thought I could say that! Did you order it at "netrition"?

I got the almond Flour (Bob's Red Mill) for $1.99 at Super Target of all places. They also had his organic ground golden flax for $1.99 too. They never have it stocked on the shelf so I circled them like a shark waiting for it to come in.
I make things different for the guys because the almond flour is too precious to waste on them! It's MINE!!! ALL MINE!!! I mean, the Momma has to have some things that are all her own. I mean, we don't have alone bathroom time, or book reading time without someone in our laps. I haven't taken a shower alone since he learned to walk. So, I will keep the almond flour to myself, d@mn it!
Thank you guys soooooo much for all the quick recipes!! Hoipefully I will only be offline for 3-4 days. It starts Saturday morning and I should have the cable internet up and runnin' on Monday. DH will be home so he should get it hooked up, no problem!
