Re: Atkins Attack, May 1st - June 15th.

Well, that is two go aheads and I appreciate the support. I am not wanting to weigh..... I *have* to weigh! LOL

Jennifer, believe me I know the struggle of not having time or even the appetite to eat enough. So here are a few things I do to make sure I am getting enough..... calories that is!!

Try this, pack many small bags of high calorie foods in ziplog baggies. Try things like nuts or seeds if you have gone on to rung 3, some cheese strings, some hard boiled eggs, cut up veggies with some very high fat dip. Preferably made with a mayo base, or full fat sour cream. Cottage cheese (full fat) with some splenda and a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg, or all spice.... And try to bring a mock danish with you for the sweet tooth cravings that can hit around 3 pm. Here is the recipe for the mock danish... These can be warmed up a bit at work if you need something to eat.

http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/mock_danish.html This has got to be one of my all time favorite things to quell a sweet tooth and it is great with sausage patties or links for breakfast with a cup of tea. Make sure you try the glaze for it. I think it makes it absolutely superb! (i make mine with all spice or pumpkin pie spice, in both the glaze and the danish!)

Also try bringing some jerky, and leftovers are always a good thing to carry along to work the next day!

I hope these give you some ideas jennifer. I find personally that if I can get in a very filling and high calorie breakfast, I will be ok for the day. I mean like 500 to 600 calories on breakfast alone. Then a snack around 200 calories, lunch around 500 calories snack#2 200 caories or more. Dinner is where I top up my calories for the day. ANd if I am still a bit low, a low carb high fat dessert is great. Try some peanut butter (no sugar) with cream cheese. Or a mock danish, or some stella style NY ricotta cheesecake. 300 caloreis a slice and 7 carbs. Maybe a bit high in carbs for induction but perfectly fine for those on OWL who have figured out their CCL.

here is the recipe for the cheesecake...

http://stellastyle.com/community2/fo...pic.php?t=3508 this is a must have for special occasions and when you are PMSing and need something NOW! LOL

ANyways, I hope these suggestions are of some help to ya'll. Keep trying to find ways to increase your health. You only have one life, live it to the best of your ability and take care of you. You are worth it!

Just as a side note. I know this may seem extreem to some folks, but here is something to consider. I was a proffessional cake decorater before I started Atkins. I quit my job because it was harming my health. Believe me that this wasn't an easy decission. I gave up having my own income, and I gave up many things I would consider to be very important to me. But I realized that if I didn't start taking care of me, there would be no me to take care of in the long run. Or even in the short run considering my health issues. Sometimes we get into the habit of leaving ourselves for last. This can happen by always doing things for you children without putting some time aside for yourself. And it can happen in the work[lace as well. Maybe you have a boss that asks you to work through lunch, or breaks and legitimately the place may be a really busy place..... but you only have one you. If you need to put your foot down and take 20 minute a day to eat... then do it! You are worth it. Schedule time for you. No one else is going to do it. People are always taking. It is time we stand up for us and say no, this is my time. Happy low carbing everyone! And here is to your health!

Re: Atkins Attack, May 1st - June 15th.

This thread is so inspirational. Not sure I have to courage to post my measurements & pictures... As I've never done that before.... I will be reading this thread everyday. I'm going to measure myself after I print the list off......

I really need to get control of my eating. I done Atkins last year & fell off the wagon in Nov. So far I've gained & lost the same *&*&^& 10 pounds.. I know I have to go back on induction to get rid of the cravings.

Re: Atkins Attack, May 1st - June 15th.

HI LORI!!!!!! Thanks so much for coming around and checking out the thread. I know posting pictures can be intimidating, but don't worry about that. First off, everyon is in the boat. We are all on the road to our goals and we are all at different points in that journey as well. Some are second or third timers, some are new and some are just trying to get rid of that last 15 lbs. But the point of the challenge isn't to see your picture really, but for you to see the changes that exercise can do for you and that focusing on Atkins the way the Dr. intended it to be done. This is really what I wanted to accomplish with starting this challenge. So if you are more comfortable emailing the picture to me, that is an option. If you think you could try the challenge, than go for it! If not than try from home, and let me know how it goes..... either way it was nice to hear that you find this thread encouraging.

Re: Atkins Attack, May 1st - June 15th.

WOOOO HOOOO! Welcom MarJo, and Christy! That is so cool to have you two aboard for the journey! It is gonna be interesting! I can hardly wait to see how everyone does in this challenge. It sure is good for refocusing all of the stuff Atkins entails.

So today I finished my 1000 flights of stairs for the KATA2 challenge, and I gotta say I never want to see another flight of stairs again! LOL

I am starting the wogging phase of my KATA2 challenge pledge. I am looking forward to that challenge being over actually. I find that there are other exercises I enjoy that I don't have time for because of the comitment i made to the KATA, however I really want to get my butt in gear and finish the challenge so I can move on! LOL I am enjoying it tho' to an extent. It is fun to push myself a bit.

Eating has been great. Food choices are on target (even with TOM hanging around) but I am thinking about pre making some foods to freeze. We are listing our home in the next few weeks, and I would like to have oven ready meals so i can avoid the excess dishes from pots and pans. And it will keep my food choics on track. If I pre make foods, I will have them on hand for times when I need to get a meal done quickly before or after viewings and stuff. And since we have no dishwasher..... that's right we live in the dark ages! NO DISHWASHER!!!!

Anyways, folks, I'm going to look throught the pages of this thread and give a roll call and see who has and hasn't given their measurements and pics. I know I need to post my new pic as well, but I will wait until MAy 1st to monitor my progress for this challenge.

On a side note, I got a few comments today from my realestate agent and a neighbour about me lookin really skinny! I don't know if I'd go that far, but I think I look much better! Just not skinny! LOL YET.......*sigh*

HG~Thanks for all that. You have such great ideas.I think I'm going to stay close to you till the end lol!!!! I am going to try so hard and use your suggestions. I am so happy, I have to say "I'm proud of myself" that tomorrow (Saturday) will be DAY 35. I am so excited at how good I've been. And its pretty easy for me. Now the exercising I haven't been good! I will find time. I will do it!! I promise. May 1st I will change my whole routine.
And please anyone, don't be afraid to post pics. I'll have mine up May 1st. I have looked through the before and after pics here and you'll be so happy that you did it. Everyone looks great. I still have my skinny pics here and there. I look at them from time to time. Theres someone on here that took her pics every couple of months and its amazing the difference in each pic.(If shes here, you look GREAT!) Like HG said, were all here for the same reason.

Re: Atkins Attack, May 1st - June 15th.

Poo, First let me say welcome to the challenge. WE are all happy to have you here and look forward to seeing you melt away! I am wondering did you double the measurements for your legs? Thigh 51", Calf 30"? Congrats BTW on doing so well on induction and for the 5 lbs gone for good! My thighs are about 25.5 each and my calves are 15 each i think...... does this make sense?

For the thigh measurement you want to put the tape measure around one leg right at the place where your butt cheek meets your leg. And for your calf measurement you want to measure one calf at the widest point. Measure the same leg every time as you go along. And when you measurements go down for things like legs and arms, multiply the number by 2 because you probably have two arms and legs. However no multiplying the neck by 2, unless you are a conjoined twin!

Jennifer, keep going girl! Use the recipes I left in the previous post and plan your foods to the best of your ability! WTG on cheat free! 35 days! cool! Really great.

Hey and once again ladies. I am a terribly shy person about pictures. My kids often ask why there are no pictures of mommy, so don't feel bad about posting them. If you do prefer to not post them, I will take them by email. I'll hold on to them and only post them with your consent at the end of the challenge if you wish. So that is an option.

I got 100 flights in today and have completed my 1000 flights of stairs.

ANd hey ZEN! So nice to see you girl! Welcome to the challenge! I know you are gonna rock this place like it is 1999! Thanks for the support for the challenge. Let's see if we can't do some shrinking together k?

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!

Re: Atkins Attack, May 1st - June 15th.

                          Hi Hubby's Girl,

I think I'm in - I'm badly in need of a scale free zone at the moment as my scaleaholic-ness (if you can say that) is getting worse.

I will post starting picture, weight and measurements on the 1st May.

I will committ to 45 mins exercise 5 days a week (which I pretty much do already).

I've never really paid much attention to water because I've always drunk loads but I'll make sure I get my 8X8 oz in. I'll be measuring it in litres though - so thats at least 1.89 per day.

My BMR is 1622 and I normally burn at least 250 calories, yikes that's 1872. I never normally eat that much, but will try and do so!

                          Finally I'll take my vitamins

The not weighing will be the hardest thing! But I will measure each week and try to stop fixating. Oh I am in the 6WEC though, so might weigh for that, though measurements are the main thing there I think.

Baarb, that is awesome! I am glad to have you aboard! Looks like a good plan so far, don't you think? The water thing is good. Keep up the good work, but since you are so close why not go for 2 litres. 8oz of water is about the same as 250 ml. So 250 ml x 8=2000ml ~ or 2L.

Anyways, it is nice to have you in the challenge. I think you can bring some great experience, and as a STAC member, you can help us when we start all going batty from withdrawl from the scale.... LOL ( yes i did read that you are a scaleaholic, but I just wanted to encourage you )

Yes I am seriously scale obsessed! Yeah I think 2L would be a good idea. I actually think I drink around 3-4 litres a day - so now I'm worried that's too much. I just like water
