Re: CHORES & EXERCISE - Double Whammy Challenge (May)

Okay Sally - You Got me!

I need to clear my two garden sheds, rake all the dead moss out of the lawn, cut the grass weekly ( hubby has been doing it - but I will do it now!) My Bedroom and my daughters need totally de cluttering - think I might have to get a skip! - My attic also needs clearing - I can't get up there with my replacement joint but hubby can and then I can go up and down the stairs with all the junk!

I will prob start this weekend as I only have every other weekend off.

    Thanks for the challenge!

Karyn, you're in! So... you'll be going up and down steps to get your exercise? Why not join the Flights challenge too, along with this one? That's so much fun and gets amazingly addictive. You count your steps/flights and climb virtual buildings and mountains. Even some people in my family are counting steps now!

Uk Girl... got you down also! Sounds like you've got quite an agenda too! I hear you on needing a skip... I need one too for my garage! Amazing how clutter just seems to accumulate all on its own, isn't it? You're going to have busy alternate weekends!
      Before and after:

      PLEDGING FLIGHTS
Completed: 1st set of buildings and mountains (Everest,M.Blanc & Kilimanjaro, twice); Tower Masts & Chimneys; More virtual buildings; Challenger's Choice x 2 (volcanos and mountains on Mars). Currently climbing: Mount Snowdon again: 416/475

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.

Oh, if you don't mind...I'm in!

It's the end of April, waaaay past "spring cleaning" and the house shows, not to mention the garage.

        1. Clean out the garage.
        2. Clean out the laundry room.
        3. Pull weeds where the lawnmower people miss...we rent, otherwise I'd do it myself.
        4. Clean off the back patio and make it "Summer Ready".

Thanks for the challenge...my home might actually be ready for summer fun instead of living around chaos

          - Commit here to getting a chore(s) done… one that involves movement… in a reasonable time frame of your choice, during the month of May… i.e. as fast as you think you can do it, or better still, just a tiny bit faster.
          - Report your progress here every so often.

          - Report mission accomplished.

sal, what i am going to have to do here is say, i'll get as much packed up for the move as i can priior to moving day. some of this is already done. we might be able to start moving some things over to the new place this weekend. if so then i can commit to getting my things out of the basement one day, and so on.

i guess i am saying the whole move is going to be the job/chore for the month of may. how particular do i need to be?

Sallyseachange & Jimmie. I love this challenge! However, I am a minimalistic clean freak so I really have no closets to clean, nothing to organize. If DH would only join, it's HIS garage that's a mess!

We are going to paint the kitchen in the near future I was hoping to do it during the challenge, but oh well!

Good luck you guys. Clean is good! Cleaning is exercise! Go, go go! You should post before and afters!

Course we don't mind Apple! Glad to have you... the more the merrier! Got you down, and your list of jobs.
You mentioned it being past "spring cleaning" time... well, originally I had this challenge in mind to coincide with spring cleaning... but it's only happening now. Talk about late! Just goes to show how badly I need my very own challenge!!!

Jimmie... you don't have to be more particular than "the whole move". That sounds like an awesome challenge to me, if your moves are anything like mine usually are!!! Btw, when do you hope to be in the new place? So exciting!

Silly... I'm sure it would be dangerous for you to offer to clear out your DH's garage. Men always go nuts if anyone tries to tidy up after them... they seem to adore living/working in what they call their "organised chaos"!
Do stop by now and again to chivvy us all along if we start flagging! We might need it!

                I'm in!!

In the month of May, I will:

                1. Clean my basement. It still has boxes from the move last summer, some of which the kids have opened and strewn all over the place.

                2. Edge all the landscaping. I do it by hand with a half-moon edging tool.

                3. Have the garden center deliver six yards of mulch and wheelbarrow it all around to the gardens. I'll do the wheelbarrowing that is, not the stout lads from Wallace's.

                Photos pending.

Do tell... what is "edging" landscaping? It sounds fascinating with a half moon tool. Do you mean like, scything all around the edges? That sounds like good exercise, for sure!

Was just a thought... I know how if you do lots of challenges it can get confusing keeping track. As for steps... I count them in my sleep these days!!

I'm in! I hate running up and downstairs all day to do our laundry daily, but I will do it. I also will go through all of the stuff we don't need and donate it.
Now, we have two out of town trips coming up - May6-8 & 13-18, but I will work around them! And I won't leave our clothes in the suitcase when we come back! LOL!!!!!

                              Hi All

Jimmie - Best of luck with your house move - that can be extremely difficult - all that packing and lifting boxes - and then unpacking - assuming you didn't hire someone to do it all!

That steps challenge does seem a pain to count up - but have devised my own where like today we had 4 hrs retail therapy and took the stairs instead of the escalators - then I came home and cleaned my kitchen from top to bottom! so resting now!

just a bit on the flight challenge:
that chart that's posted in the very first post is mostly just a guide. i used it for about a week and then dumped it. i found myself doing more flights each day and switching things around. i don't even use it anymore. i have my pennies at the bottom of the stairs and when it's time for flights, i tote them one by one to the top. climb climb climb and forget the chart. the only thing to refer to it for is to see what you going to climb next and how many flights it is. gosh, that challenge is addicting! and it's got the coolest looking awards!

thanks for the well wishes on the move. not a hired out job, it's all me and jack. hire out all that exercise??? no way! lolol

                                sorry for the hyjack, sal.
