Are you moving to a bigger house Jimmie? Have you lived there long? No, not the best way to spend Mother's Day.

Mickkey and Ken.... welcome! Never too late, while May is still May... and we've got the whole month ahead of us still!

Congratulations to everyone who started. Suddenly it's a hive of activity around here and that's gonna be great for revving up our metabolisms!

mick, i went through a whole horrible move last year so this saga is very old to some. born and raised in ohio but moved to the gulf coast in 1981 and that became home. last year, in march, jack moved me back up to ohio and i'll been miserable ever since. won't go into all that.

we've lived in this house since march of last year but jack's work and church are in another town about 35-40 minutes away. gas is up to $3 a gallon so we are moving closer the things.

the house sq footage is smaller. it looks big from the outside but the rooms are small and the the whole thing is chopped up like old house often were.

my plan and goal for the day is to pack up the hunting gear that's in the chiffirobe and make sure the spare bedroom is finished. i'm running out of room downstairs to take boxes so all i can do is make sure everything is packed and ready to be moved.
i would also like to get some of the good glassward packed but that's a plus if i get to that.

Hope your managing your "day plan" ok Jimmie. I so feel for you, with a move!

As for me... I made a start on my garage! Phew! Isn't it strange that when we've dreaded something for so long, actually starting is a sort of relief!
Came across my mum's old Singer sewing machine which gave me a little pang... memories... I can see this is going to be a bittersweet task.

Hi everyone - just found this thread and its a wonderful idea. I just started doing some spring cleaning today and made a list of things that need doing! This challenge is perfectly timed for me, so I'd like to join in!

I'd like to do the following in May :-
              Paint Hall, stairs and landing
Spring clean complete house - from skirting boards to ceiling!
              Finish Guest room
              Sort out attic
Plant herb garden and replaint window boxes and garden flower pots
Do window cleaning (hate this job, but I'm thinking of my arms!)

Well done to everyone on what they've done so far......Love reading your progress.

                sweet on the memories

my mom had an old singer too and i think she threw it away. crazy old woman. that thing sewed as good as any machine i've ever had. lolol

spare bedroom is as done as i can get it. i've got nowhere to tote boxes so things are sitting waiting for the move.
got some mind work done too. electric, cable, water have all been set up for disconnect. making headway!

Sorry jimmie, looks like my husband's job will be asking a move from us too, now back up north. I don't want to go either, but don't have a choice in the matter. Such is life. I lived in Ohio for a time. I wasn't happy there either.

Hey, it could be worse. They say gas could go up to $4 a gallon this summer. Just in time for vacations.

Oh..... haven't started on my chores just yet....trying to get into the proper mindset

Good to have you with us Theperfect10! Sounds like you've got quite a chore list there, too. Glad this is good timing for you. I think it'll be nice for most of us to get some major tasks out of the way before summer.

Jimmie... those Singers never die! Amazing machines. When I lived in Libya I remember there was a tiny little town on the coast, miles from anywhere. There was only one shop and not much else except.... guess what?.... a Singer rep!!! Totally absurd, but what an empire in those days! (this must've been around 1963).

Sounds like you're moving steadily forward with the packing. Good for you!

Mickkey... it's hard getting into the right mindset, isn't it? Sometimes I think the best thing is to just not think about it and start. Like diving into a cold swimming pool rather than inching in!

Did a bit more of garage... but not much as it was one of those horrendous days when everything you do goes skewiff and takes three times as long to do. Still, baby steps... I committed to doing it in two weeks, so I should be comfortable with some every day. Surprisingly tiring too.

rome wasn't built in a day... and the clean up from construction took longer! lolol

got my good dishes packed and now everything in the dining room is ready to be moved. i won't be able to do too much more. maybe a few things in the kitchen but most of what i have left is stuff that's used daily.
i'm ready to get this stuff to the new place!

I did all the watering at work today - using a watering can instead of a hose pipe - which meant lots of carrying and walking! - not usually my job but my boss asked if I would do it - at first I though 'no' why should I - but then thought of the positive side!

I did some more garage clearing... only about half an hour though. I'm beginning to see some order in the chaos... or at least what will be order!
