              Hi Jammie how the heck do you get so many miles...is the bike stationary...my treadmills a killer so I know I can't do more than a few at a time on it..I just got a pedomter because I walk miles a day at work...it's to cold here in Ct. to do any outside biking yet!!

                yep, this is my stationary bike, charks. it's all relative, my dear challenger. mine numbers compared to don's and jammies or even outback jess, when she joins us, pale by comparison.
                i've had my bike for several years and i've never grown tired of it. i put my head phones on and listen to my book on tape or i pop in a Mad About You or X Files tape and i'm good to go.
                i wasn't so good starting out, trust me. i barely made a mile.

                good for you getting a pedometer! we have an ongoing challenge for that too!

                  Charks, Yeah Its a stationary bike at the gym...Ive found some really good music that I like and I just ride like crazy to it...(one of the cds I downloaded is called "desperate hot wives" I just love it....I know what you mean about the treadmill though...the otherday I did like 17 miles on the bike in 45 mins...and then I went to the treadmill and it took me like 15 mins to walk one mile...plus I cant really do the treadmill too much it kills my knees. I know the ppl at the gym must think I look like a maniac on that bike...lol...thats actually one of the songs I work out to too..."Shes a maniac" from flashdance...lol.

                    Mine is a stationary bike as well. In fact, we went ahead and invested in one for the house, even though I like the one at the gym better because it has a softer seat. When you are pedaling for an hour, that makes a huge difference. However, the one upstairs is really great for those cold mornings when you just don't feel like going out.

                    Anyway, I got in another 15 miles this morning. I am on alternating days now, getting my aerobics in between weight workouts.

                      Well u guys I think I'm screwed..LOL!!
                      I have in my workout room a Treadmill,Elliptical ..I have my getting sucked into an INFOMERCIAL--->>>Cardio Cruiser by Jake!!! A 6 minute ab machine thats tilted up against the wall that I never look at..my weight bench with all my free weights ...LQQKING around shaking head but no FREAKIN bike!!!UGH!!!
                      I'll have to settle for my 2 to 3 miles a day
                      Jimmie .... or anyone--- with my new pedometer is that legal on this challenge???

                        hey, if it counts miles for you, it counts!
                        i have that function on my pedometer. it will count steps, miles, time and has a stop/start function like a stop watch.

                          Good Morning (or is it afternoon )

                          First day of this challenge for me and I did 1.80 miles on treadmill which I felt good about from couch potato to actually moving is GREAT.... I will try to do some more this evening and report later... But if I can do at least 1.25 miles each day I will reach my goal YAY!!

                              Saturday 2/2 : walk 1 1/2 miles
                              Subday 2/3 : walk 1 1/2 miles

                                It isn't the miles that matter, it is the fact that you are doing it. For me, I have to use the bike at the doctors orders. I have torn miniscus and arthrosis in both knees and my othopedic surgeon had two suggestions for me to avoid having full knee replacement. LOSE WEIGHT (yea! I am down over 150 lbs since he told me that) and to get on a stationary bike a minimum of three times per week and at least 20 minutes per day. Something about keeping my knees rotating that lubricates the joint. I will tell you that it works. No more knee pain! I can walk pretty good (about 4 miles in an hour), but really enjoy the bike now. Oh, and I am so un-coordinated that I have trouble doing the elliptical machines. I have never gotten the hang of it, and keep losing my balance. This month, I am going to try to get more walking in as well as some swimming. I want to add more variety to what I am doing.
