      30 more minutes with trainer mike today... lots of total body work with the kettleball... kettleball swings, trusts, pushes and lifts... planks with leg lifts, bicycles, lower abs pushes and weighted situps

        Usually two days is enough to recover, but I was still really sore today. Actually, on Saturday, I walked (tramped) all over a 600 acre farm, up and down hills in the wrong kind of footware. That really did a number on my leg muscles. So I didn't really have two complete rest days.

        30 minutes upper body free weights
        30 minutes lower body strength training on the stepper

              I did yoga too. I love this yoga teacher. Today she was telling us how important it was to eat yogurt - something to do with depression - she is cute.
              And I power lifted again. A guy in the gym came over and said I was in too much pain and told me to do less weight more reps. I told him that was just not my style. I'll feel it tomorrow

                Grrrr It's so cold and windy and it's been snowing off and on all day! It's April the 7th, for Pete's sake! I went for a very brisk, short walk this afternoon and the snow flakes sticking to my sweats didn't melt until I came back inside.

                30 minutes stability ball core. That ball kickes my butt. My butt is not a part of my core...is it???

                  Sorry I had to drop out of the last challenge. It was a bit unexpected that my kids would be sick most of that month! :/ I'm happy to be back and, hopefully, I will be able to stick through this one until the end!

                  I worked out on Monday and today and did 45 minutes of strength training on both days for a total of 90 minutes so far this month.

                    30 minutes, recumbent stepper, tension 11!**
                    30 minutes, upper body free weights, 5-lb., 12 reps (getting too easy)

                    **When I bought the recumbent stepper (part of a Thane Power Gym), I was barely walking with two quad canes. The tension/resistance for the stepper goes from 1 to 12 with half stops. I could barely get on it back then, and with the tension set as low as it would go, I had to take a cane tip to help push with my foot to get it to go down the first step. The most I could do was about 5 minutes. For the next five years, I only used it a few times. Once I dropped my cane and couldn't get off without it. I had to call my daughter to come rescue me.

                    When I started Atkins, I was determined to use this expensive piece of gym equipment and I was determined I was going to walk without canes very soon (my docs wrote me a prescription for the metal (think polio) canes that clamp on the forearms--no thank you very much). It was hard at first, but I persevered and I made it all the way to "8" for as much as 45 minutes.

                    For this challenge, I am using it as strength training, so I have cranked the tension up to 10 and have been doing 30 minutes. That was getting too easy, so today I cranked it up to 11! I was so proud. Now, I'm wondering what I will do when 12 gets too easy?

                    Even when my health prevents me from exercising at all for months, it only takes me a few days to get back up to speed.

                    I still have that prescription for the more disabled-looking canes. I might frame it. I haven't walked with any kind of canes for over three years. It took about a year before I could shop without using the electric cart, but I managed that too.

                          Only did 15 minutes today, I didn't go to the gym, had too much going on around home, but I have to strenghten up my shoulders, so that's what I did

                          And I forgot to add my 60 minutes from Monday!
