I did 45 minutes of weights, weighted ball work, lunges, and work with my stretch bands. I’m feeling it today too!

I am going to have to back off some on my ambitious exercise plan for the 90 days starting March 30th. In my mind and on paper I am a healthy person that does not suffer from a monster disorder called RSD, Reflex Sympathetic (severe failure of the sympathetic nervous system) Dystrophy (muscle wasting), with a ton of neurological symptoms. I have several movement disorders (dystonia, myoclonus, contracture spasms, "falling disorder") and am no longer taking the awful seizure drugs to help control the condition. The falling disorder is when my brain sends the wrong signal to my right leg, and I fall before I even know what is happening. It feels like stepping in a bottomless hole. Since I have injured my good leg, I've been forced to step up and down steps on the leg I can't trust. This is not good.

Myoclonus causes me severe problems with swallowing. I know when I have pushed too far when I can barely swallow my food without choking.

I have to go slower on increasing weight and resistance. I need to do fewer minutes and stop when I get exhausted and the spasms start instead of continuing because my exercise journal says "30 minutes" or I have not finished all muscle groups. That is hard for me. Once I have committed to something, I want/need to carry through.

I need to do something similar to yoga or just a stretching program every day. When I was in the shower this morning, I was in misery just trying to wash my back, legs and feet. That much twisting movement started up the dystonia spasms which lock me is a twist.

I'm glad that I am almost at my pledged minutes for April. Next month I need to come up with Plan B.

Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal postures.

Symptoms vary according to the kind of dystonia involved. In most cases, dystonia tends to lead to abnormal posturing, particularly on movement. Many sufferers have continuous pain, cramping and relentless muscle spasms due to involuntary muscle movements.

Early symptoms may include loss of precision muscle coordination (sometimes first manifested in declining penmanship, frequent small injuries to the hands, dropped items and a noticeable increase in dropped or chipped dishes), cramping pain with sustained use and trembling. Significant muscle pain and cramping may result from very minor exertions like holding a book and turning pages.

Myoclonus is brief, involuntary twitching of a muscle or a group of muscles. The myoclonic twitches or jerks are usually caused by sudden muscle contractions; they also can result from brief lapses of contraction. Contractions are called positive myoclonus; relaxations are called negative myoclonus. The most common time for people to encounter them is while falling asleep (hypnic jerk), but myoclonic jerks are also a sign of a number of neurological disorders.

Myoclonic seizures can be described as "jumps." They are caused by rapid contraction and relaxation of the muscles. Severe cases of pathologic myoclonus can distort movement and severely limit a person's ability to sleep, eat, talk, and walk.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."

Keep doing what you can and want to do Sunny. Taking time and care to heal is the most important thing. Taking time to connect with what is important is essential too. You are such an inspiration to everyone here. If I feel like I am lacking in will power, I just have to take a look at one of your posts and off I go.

I did yoga with "crazy" Kayly today. Crazy because she has us try to do these very challenging moves. Like Crow (which I cannot do-but I am working on it) but then she goes from crow to the next level which is sort of a headstand - oh my If I had started Yoga at 10 maybe I could get there but I HAD!!! to wait till I was 47 so I am a bit behind Anyways she is young and inspiring. She says we should not approach these things as we are heroes and can do everything but then again we should never be so afraid and limited that we are not willing to try new things. I think that is a very good philosophy.
And she shows us what we have to do to get strong enough to try some of these things. Planks and dolphins are on my list of things to do for the next week!! (maybe the next year )

30 min with trainer mike today: squat thrusts, leg out squats with kettleball lifts, pushups, reverse crunches, bizzaro crunches where i had my legs in the air and he pressed down on them (he explained why this is good... i forgot), alternating leg ups while jumping over the bosu ball, squats with kettleball throws and catches (glad I didn't injure anyone), chest presses, one legged squats, and pull-up machine... I'm exhausted!!!

Did short upper body weights, today. 20 minutes, 5-lb., 9 reps. Just wanted to get in my 400 minutes.

It was 82 degrees today, so I was outside all day, digging, lifting, carrying (5 gallon buckets of dirt), planting and cleaning up. I may go to bed and die now!
