Thanks for asking your brother. This is what I was expecting as the correct answer. I'll just have to switch my lower body strength to a different day and do core on the same day I do upper body weights.

Re: April Strength Challenge-record your minutes

been away from the computer for the holidays but I'm adding in my 60 minutes of strength training
sunny, I'm currently working with a trainer and am on the same strength schedule as you m-w-f... we do some core exercises every single time we meet as he asserts that core training not only makes you look better but strengthens muscles that help stabilization that makes your other workouts safer. I would say if you find you are doing similar weight lifting exercises you can work in core exercises such as planks that don't use weights and may not strain the same muscles. I have noticed VAST improvements since I've been focusing on core exercises and cannot sing their praises enough... hope this makes sense... i'm in a rambling mood

I do upper body strength training three days a week, every other day (M-W-F), like I’ve been told to do. I do a Joyce Vedral workout with 5 to 8 pound weights, four movements, 12 reps for each muscle group: chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, back.

Here’s the question: I have found some core exercises that I really want to do, but they are done with weights and some are the exact same moves I do in my regular workout, just with a stability ball or a core move added.

Should I save this/these move(s) to do only as the core workout and do it on the same day I do the complete workout or is it okay to do it on alternate days?

            Hay there...
I'm a personal trainer and in my opinion you have two options.
You can do everything on the same day but make darn sure that you rest the next day. A lot of my clients are pretty tight on time so our sessions are pretty intense and I cram a mix of cardio and strength training in one session. It's a total body workout and it's a way to get the most bang for your buck the way I see it.
Option two: You can always alternate the days that you work your core with weights and not. It sounds like a split routine. Kind of like people who work upper body on certain days and lower body on other days etc. JMO...it's good to see women who are interested in strength training, especially with weights. I have to work hard to convince my female clients that weight are the way to go with weight loss.

Toga girl - impressive stuff! How do you do those bosu ball crunches?
I went to yoga today before taking off to work. A new teacher today. She was very picky as to what direction your hip was pointing. But I can feel my glutes now. Maybe there was something to it?

I did yoga too. Gentle yoga though. Loved it. Slow and nice. Also did some squats and abs work. I did bozu ball crunches. I tried that is. Not sure if I got them right.
