Back on the treadmill today! Felt really good, my neck still has a tiny twinge I can't seem to stretch out but I'll get there. So consider this D1W1 for me again .

      Hi, Everybody

Liv and Quo, I appreciate your thoughts today.

Beware Paul - a little female banter about to happen.

The appointment went well. The particular cyst that he was watching on my ovary has actually shrunk in the past 2 weeks, and since the cancer screening came back negative, he is just going to have me come back in 6 months for another ultrasound, just to keep an eye on things. He did give me the option, though, of having a complete hysterectomy at any point that I am tired of living with the pain caused by the endometriosis in my uterus, so the ball is in my court with that. That would take care of my pain, and get rid of the ovary concerns. I'm going to tough it out a little longer, but will probably go through with it at some point. We'll see.

Liv, I don't do a warm up per say. I find I run a lot better if I just run lower than normal for the first mile and then stretch afterward. I can't stretch before running at all without ending up hurt pretty much.

Paul, great job getting back on the treadmill. Hope you finish healing soon.

Mitzie, aren't there any other therapies for the endrometriosis?!?!?!?! That just sounds so... scary. How do you feel about it?

Running: Last night a ran for an hour again while talking on the phone. It was a smooth easy run and I could have done another 1 or 2 easily but didn't and won't. My goal in the short term is to build a strong base of 25 miles a week before I have to start the marathon training program mid october. So if I can get up to an hour for each of my runs and maybe 5 days a week or fewer days an one longer run. I'm just going to see what feels more comfortable. I just want to be strong enough not to get hurt without waiting another year to do this. We'll see... I'm going to go carefully and really listen to my body. If it looks like I may get hurt I'll drop back to a half marathon in March. But I don't think I'll have to. Over 5 miles ran... just multiply that a couple times and you got 25

Well, Quo... There are other alternatives, but they are only a temporary measure... that stuff grows back. He's already "cleaned up" the endo once, back in 2001, when I had my tubes tied. The alternatives are usually used on younger woman who are trying to preserve their ability to have children. At my age, the doc is willing to just pull everything... especially since my uterus is enlarged to the point that I experience pain, and I have cysts on both ovaries. I have no problem with yanking it all, other than I don't like how long I would be down or how much it would cost (I have a $5000 deductible to satisy before insurance will kick in). I'm thinking of going ahead and having it done at some point in 2008, though, since I have already satisfied $1500 worth of the deductible for this year... that would mean I would have to come up with $3500. If I wait until the new calender year, I will have to come up with the whole $5000. I know it's a stupid factor to consider, but it's there nonetheless.

          Sorry, Paul!

Ran 3.3 miles today, in a little over 35 minutes.

For a warmup, I walk 3 laps briskly before starting my run. I stretch thoroughly for about 15 minutes after I'm finished. I have become so much more flexible since doing this! Love it.

Mitz - so glad everything went well at the doctor's. Hopefully you can get that pain dealt with as well when you are ready.

I have not run guys. I am waiting for that pain in my calf to subside. I can barely feel it now - except a tinge when I walk down stairs. But I do not want to push anything. It is not like I have a race to go to next week. I will try to run again this weekend. Been doing some slow biking as that seems fine and some upper body work. Hopefully I will be running again soon or by biceps will be too big from all this weightlifting.

Ran again today. That is the first time I have actually run two days in a row. I know next week is hectic. I will have trouble finding time. It is last week of summer school. I did not run a longer run - just the usual 5K - nice and slow again. I wanted to have some time to do strength training today and a bit of swimming. So I did run three times this week but I guess I will have to do it over since I did not really follow the programme.

                  Hi

Just breezing through real quick. Haven't run since Thursday, and today TOM made it's 3rd appearance since June 30th. This is aggravating, as I had gotten to the point where I was only having one every 3 or 4 months... now, I can't go 3 weeks. Ugh, this $hit is getting old.

Nice to see you around Mitz. Hope you are recovering with TOM. I have some really hard periods going on now in transition to menopause. They can be really draining.

I did my run. So I am counting it as the first of week nine. As I am repeating week nine. What I am realizing now is that I am already talking myself out of the long run this weekend. Perhaps those longer runs are harder on me than I realized. I am going to make an effort to stick with the schedule though.

I am still running. Did a nice one today. It probably will be my last 5:30 in the morning run. My work schedule will change a bit come fall and I will be able to get away with running a bit later in the day. I think I will miss it. It is so quiet at that time of day.

I ran my 4 laps the night before last which comes to about 5.25 miles and takes about an hour to do. I'm going by mileage now and will get my garmin soon. Until then I am running certain laps. I was going to run tonight for another hour but I am debating it even as I sit here typing in my running clothes. I got ran into by an SUV yesterday and while I came away unharmed, fawkes still runs and doesn't look too shabby either, I'm a little sore and just tired. May only run two laps tonight depending on how I feel once I get out there.

Did my long run today. Yippee. I am going away next week. But I don't go anywhere without my running shoes these days so I am hoping to get some 5Ks done. It would be nice to run in a new environment.

Last night I ran the first time since the accident and it went smoothly. God, I needed that. My head was all out of wack from not running and I felt so good going through the streets. I'm happy I only missed one run this week so that's a good thing. Liv, didn't that long run feel amazing? That first 1 hour run is just suck a huge accomplishment and I'm supper happy for you.

                              Hi

Well, today was the first day I have run since August 7th! Yikes!

12 days... no wonder I felt so out of shape. The good news is, I was able to run for 30 minutes. I wasn't able to cover the amount of distance I'm used to in that time, but that's OK. I'm just mega-excited that I could still run for 30 minutes without keeling over.

One hour runners! I bow to you both... well done!

I have been running on my holiday here. It has been fun but it is hilly here. Up hill running is tough stuff.
