Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
Hi everyone, I'm new to running ( not new to fitness and weight lifting tho ), and have decided to focus on some long term goals I've always had but never persued. I'd love to run a marathon. I joined The Running Room - Learn to run program - ( starting off right ) and am meeting Sunday for my first run with the group. They started 3 weeks ago and are 4's and 1s..which I've worked myself up too on my own. I've been running this week every day and feeling great.
I'll be running 4's and 1's tonight - and then joining my group for a morning run tomorrow.
Question: Has anyone had any problems with Glycogen stores/depletion when running? ( due to excessively low carb diets ) Are you affected during your run and or after recovery?
Note: I'm in "induction phase" about to start my second week.

Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
TaylorLee - to answer your question, I haven't had a problem with running while on Induction... or recovery. I think I've actually felt better while running with low carb than I do with pasta, but maybe that's just me.
Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
Hi Taylor Lee thanks for joining
Lyssie is a great runner. She did some races last year!!
I am in induction right now too. And I have no issues either. The body will burn fat through ketosis to give you enough energy for most things. Just keep your fat way up there.
10 K today. YES!!!

Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
It's good to know that you find it easier to run with less carbs. I started my run tonight feeling like dead weight. I hate that!. By the time I got into first 10 minutes then I was okay and smooth running from there, but up to that point, it was like my muscles simply wouldn't work. ( glycogen depletion )
Anyways, I' am happy I finished my run tonight..
I think I'm going to do the "RUN FOR THE CURE" October 5th!
Just a 5KM.
Lyssie and Liv, are you both still at induction? If not, how many carbs do you think you're getting - more so on the days you run? I'm just curious because in 8 days I'll be done induction and be ready to start working through rungs, and I'm sure that will help
Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
I went to induction carbs right now - I eat mainly vegetable carb (I don't have much dairy and no sweeteners) so I would guess around 12. You are a bit new Taylor so it may take your body a bit of time to adjust to it.
I ran my 6 K today. It was so beautiful.
Good work whereami and Taylor
Are you still around Betty? I know you are running for sure.

Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
TaylorLee - I'm back on induction, but not back running (yet). The only problem I had with running with that level was that I had a lot of trouble when I did a 13.1 mile run... but this was also due to dehydration.
I guess I should go out this evening and see what I can do...
Re: Its time to resurrect the COOL RUNNING thread!
3.5 miles sept 1st
thanks liv! Im really having a hard time running after being off for some time but it might be also that Im not used to running outside so its been tough.
