Ok, only one smoke left then that is it. Apparently my last half a pack didn't last as long as I thought. I am ready though!

Ok, any good tips on getting the smoke smell out of my car? I hate cleaning my car, so I'm thinking I need a professional detail done.

Congratulations nikki! You've been freed from the slavery of smoking! I really envy all of you new non-smokers, you've been freed from so much. I'm on chapter 19 of the Easy Way to Stop Smoking book and one thing I've been pondering is how earlier in the book he pointed out how we force our bodies to accept that first cig or two. Our bodies sputter and cough and say "Hey stupid...this is poison! Stop!" but we do it anyway. I'm also now aware of how gross these things taste. But this post shouldn't be about me because we have a new non-smoker now and that is something to celebrate!
Great job nikki! I'm sooooooo proud of you! :icondance

Bugaboo you can do this too. I know you have already read about how some smokers are so afraid that they read like a page a day to avoid the inevitable finishing of the book. Get on board sweety. Nikki I definitely think a detail is in order. You could prolly just shampoo your upolstery too if you felt like it.

Just doing some research and thought this was interesting. From the American Cancer Society website:

When Smokers Quit - The Health Benefits Over Time

20 minutes after quitting: Your blood pressure drops to a level close to that before the last cigarette. The temperature of your hands and feet increases to normal.

8 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.

24 hours after quitting: Your chance of a heart attack decreases.

2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases up to 30%.

1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce infection.

1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's.

5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5-15 years after quitting.

10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker's. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decrease.

15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker's.

Have fun nikki! Thank you all for your on-going support. I picked the book back up today and read a few chapters. Chapter 21 is my favorite. I'm reading at slow but steady pace. I do better, I think, absorbing what I've read and reflecting on it. I'm sure that's the little fear of failure monster in me but I feel more confident doing it this way. Which is silly but it's working for me.

8 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.
I just realized that after I get a good night's sleep that's why that 1st cig in the morning makes me feel sick. My body got rid of the carbon monoxide poison I'd been pumping into it the day before only for me to light up and force poison into it again. D'oh. :no
