i took my echinachea 1/2 hour before i ate and now i need to go get the other vitamins in.

Ok... think I'll post the day after as I take my supps three times a day. Yesterday I didn't forget, even once!!!

Anyone use Silicea Earth (translated from "Terra Silicea")? Supposed to help with binding calcium and good for menopausal women. Just wondered as my health shop raves about it and managed to sell me some.

sal, i don't know anything about that. was it costly? does it help with the pill form of calcium as well as what we would take in with our food?

i remembered right off this morning to take my herb (empty stomach syndrome or ess) lol

silly, you got a nice star for being a good girl!

Jimmie... not sure what kind of calcium it helps because I don't take a calcium supplement, though I probably should... need to have the bone test done first though. I imagine it would help with any kind of calcium but next time I'm at the health shop I'll enquire.

The stuff cost me €13 (about $16 I think) for a packet that should last about a month. It comes in powder form. I really only bought it because I've just come through the menopause and thought I should do something!! Not very scientific, right? First take the powder... then do the bone test! (Lol).

Our modern diet has us taking in a very lopsided ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3... like 15/1 instead of say the 3/1 our cavemen ancestors ate (not exact figures, can't remember those...but that sort of ratio). At those rates the Omega 6 messes with the Omega 3s which are much more important.

Should I be concerned Sally? Mine have 400 mg Flax Seed (Omega 3) 400mg Fish oil (Omega 3) 400 mg Borage (Omega 6 & 9). How does the 6 mess with the 3???

SG, we need omega 6 for our bodies, but as westeners, we get too much of it as it is in our diets. Meat and veggie oils contain a lot of omega 6, so we don't need to supplement with it. There's a ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 that's considered healthy, but I don't recall what it is other than it's a very small ratio....maybe 1:1 or something like that. High levels of omega 6 is suppose to promote inflammation, which in turn leads to other diseases including some cancers. Who the heck wants that??

DH only uses flaxseed oil and sometimes walnut oil, both of which are high in omega 3s. We both take our fish oil capsules, but he also eats a lot of fish. I only eat fish when I'm in LA.

Wow Bio, thanks for that great explanation. So, 3 combined with 9 would be okay. I hate fish, refuse to cook it and only eat it out on a rare occasion, used to have to have a grilfriend come over to make my tuna so that's why I take the supplement, and DH has cholesteral issues and heart disease in his family so that's why he takes it. Our current bottle is just about out so I'll get some without the 6 in it.
