    Just came across this thread....very interesting to hear how different vits effect different people. I am an avid believer in taking Vits. I started taking them years ago...even before I began atkins, although I have added a few in the last few years.

    I take 7 Vitamins:

    Caltrate D
    Vit C...a must have for me!...Hardly ever get the sniffles...maybe once in a blue Moon!
    Fish oil...Omega 3
    Potassium...helps with the night leg cramps...also interesting about the redness in the face...now that I hear that and think about it...that is prob what has helped in my skin conditions!...Very interesting indeed!
    Super B complex....for stress!
    B-12...yes it helps with the energy!
    For the life of me I cannot think of #7..I know I take 7...maybe I need something for memory improvement....what is #7....duh..I remember now...my centrum silver...LOL

      hey there lisa

      good stash of stuff you have there. i don't know how i got along with the B complex. i had not taken there ever till we started this thread. now it's a must.

      we haven't seen biogeek in awhile but she's been great to help us know if we are lacking something, overdoing something else. she's smart that way.

        B-Complex has seriously been a life saver for me...that with the added boost of B-12.

        Yes would like to hear Bio's thoughts on the vits I take...too little...too much....

            It's been extremely busy for me...just taking a break at work right now....I found my self extremely motivated awhile back...joining challenges..posting regularly...etc...I just could not keep up...but I do get on here and read from time to time...Hoping after the first of the year..thigs will calm down..I know I am not the only one feeling a bit over-whelmed...it will all even out soon....maybe Bio is just taking a break...but anxious to hear her thoughts

              B 100% Complex, calcium 35 mg
              Estroplus, calcium 150mg

              calcium mg total 1585 mg

              i'll bet i'm getting the 2000 mg your talking about, when i add the real food totals.
              Tks so much jimmie for looking out your dosages. Interesting.
              I checked Fitday for the previous month's calcium (before I started taking it), and averaged 71% of the RDA. Actually, that was better than I'd thought... not sure what they reckon is the RDA for calcium though. I think, with the 600 mg extra, I'll be over their RDA, but I'm positive that it'll be below 1200 mgs, let alone 2000 mgs.
              Maybe Bio will have some advice when she hits this thread. pls, Bio!

              Hope you sort out your hormonal issues soon. At our time of life, these fluctuations are a real bore! If you're having bad nights that'll cause the blech feelings for sure. Have you tried a natural sleeping remedy? Sorry I can't recommend anything... they're all diff over here.
              What's Estrovan? It sounds hormonal... or a natural hormonal remedy. Keep us posted as to how you get on with it and look after yourself!

                it's been a week since anyone checked in here.
                i'm on track and most times i've remembed to take the estroplus tab i bought. i'm not sure it's doing anything yet, though. perhaps i have to take it for a bit before i see some results.

                    i was talking with my mom yesterday. she has macular degeneration in both eyes. she hasn't lost all sight but this last episode has really taken it's toll. she's having a very hard time reading and doing her puzzles even with a magnifying glass.
                    we were talking about viatmins and supplements, as she thinks i need take HRT but when it comes to her, she is thinking vitamins are pretty much worthless.
                    why, you many ask???
                    about a year ago, the eye doctor told her to get a certain brand of vitamin specifically for her eyes. it wouldn't help to heal the damage that was already done but would be beneficial to help stop any more damage. well, mom saw the price, which was about $15 per bottle that would last a month and said no way was she paying that. i told her fine, let the kids pay for. there are 4 of us and sil works at walmart so we could get a discount. it was a no go. mom got all hyped up and refused to even hear it. if you know my mom, you don't want to go ahead and do whatever it is you are planning if she has already nipped it in the bud.

                    so here we are now, with significant damage to her eyes. i mentioned that the mega dosing on the vitamins that doctor told her take, probably would have helped and she says "no, they wouldn't". this coming from a mostly blind woman who defied the doctor, didn't take the mega doses she was told take.

                    moral of the story TAKE YOUR VITAMINS

                      Sorry for your mum Jimmie. Such a shame that the eye damage might have been avoidable with those vits. When people get elderly they get soooooo very set in their ways and stubborn. Hard to deal with.

                        So, I'm working on an all new post about multivitamins and hope to have it done by Friday or so. (Yeah, I've been planning on writing this FOREVER but better late than never, eh? Also, someone asked me in a PM about it, but her inbox was full for a reply!)

                        I was wondering on what thoughts you had for future topics for me to write about. Any ideas or comments?

                            I'm still on track with vitamins.

                            I've even got my boyfriend taking glucosamine/chondroitin and calcium (with vitamin D)--he broke his foot and wants it to heal ASAP. His joints (especially his right knee) was becoming stiff because of his gimpy walk, which is why he started taking Gluco/Chon.

                              Well, in case you haven't noticed, I posted a new thread for beginner's. Next on my list is to create another thread about various ingredients. Like the beginner's guide, it will also be sticked, locked, and then updated as needed.

                              After that, my plans are to write about glucosamine/chondroitin because so much has been published about it and it's VERY exciting (well, to me that is), followed by a piece about menopause (including pre- and post-). After that, well, I'm not sure but will gladly take suggestions.

                                i'm on track with my vitamins!
                                i had an eye exam and the doc asked me if i took vitamins to which i said "yes, of course". he said, "good. what do you take?". i told him and he said "very good. keep doing that."

                                although i need glasses i have no diseases of the eye, nothing going wrong in that
                                respect. TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!
