Re: ADBB Vitamin Club Converstion Thread~ week of Jan. 21
SG, I wouldn't worry about taking an omega 9 supplement. First of all, it's not an essential fatty acid like omega 3 & 6. This means that our bodies can make omega 9 & not the other two omegas. When we eat unsaturated fat, our bodies can convert parts of that to omega 9. There are several different fats that are considered omega 9, the most common oleic acid from olive oil as well as other monounsaturated fats. There's another type that comes from rapeseed oil, but I can't remember what it's called. I think my various nutrition professors would be happy of how much I've remembered over the years.
We take quite a bit of omega 3 to compensate for all the meat we eat and to help promote cardiovascular health. As a side note, I personally believe it has helped me with my psoriasis as my entire face, neck, upper chest were covered with red, blotchy sores and silver scales. I hardly have any patches anymore & stopped taking medications on a daily basis for over a year. Every once in awhile, I get too stressed out and have a flare-up, but it doesn't last as long as it used to. Thank goodness!!!
P.S.---I've taken my evening supplements!
