    I have a mini goal I'm really REALLY really hoping to make. When I first started in January I thought I'd be so much further along with my weight loss than I am....silly me - like it would be "easy".......yea right! I decided last month I wasn't going to make my goal of being at 135 by January. My mini goal is in the 170's by the first of September - I am 1 pound from being in the 170's so I'm really hoping I can get there by next Monday. When I hit 30 pounds I didn't think it would be months before I hit the next 10 pound loss...I'm not at 40 yet -- I'm 3 pounds away still. Each pound is such a struggle - I've tried different things but I'm not loosing unless my body feels like giving me a bit of a whoop whoop - but that isn't often! I'm happy I've lost what I have this far and that it has stayed off so I hope this isn't coming across as complaining - because I don't mean it to be.

    Next month I go get another round of blood work done for the endocrinologist. I go see her October 1st -- so the end of September I'll go get it done. Since my numbers were up last time I'm hoping they go back in line and maybe even lower this time. My blood sugars have been so good -- my A1C should be 4.9 or right around there -- I think the endo's office goes by whole numbers so it'll still be 5.0 - either way it's still half what it was in July of next year.

    I've started eating more tuna and shrimp for lunches -- that's about the only fish I like enough to eat. I made a good tuna salad today -- 1 can albacore tuna, 1 radish, 1 stalk celery, 1Tbsp sugar free relish and mayo. I added pepper and a dash of onion powder for flavoring -- it was nice and crunchy -- and I had it on a big bed of romaine lettuce so it was visually appealing as well as good tasting.

    I was making whipped cream too often so I got a 1/2 pint today when I was at the store instead of a quart -- that was too much and I could talk myself into having it on a whim....I know it's something that makes it harder for me to loose but I need a little in the house for things like cheese sauce (which I have very rarely) or added to turnips to make the cream sauce.

    Enough for tonight -- I'm tired and would like to go to bed. I'm hoping since I have Lanacaine now I'll be able to sleep tonight - last night was awful. I may have gotten about 2-1/2 hours of sleep and I took 3 cool showers during the night trying to cool off the sunburn.

      Tomorrow is my official weigh in again (every Monday) -- I'm really hoping to make my mini goal by the first - I've sort of been stuck in the 180's for so long I'm beginning to think I'll never get any more weight off. I had a dream that this was the final amount I was going to loose and was trying to deal with not being able to loose any more. Pathetic huh! Sheesh. I should use my dreams for better things that than.

      We are having steak and eggs for dinner tonight. I just ground up some bologna with sugar free pickles and Hellmans -- I'll have that wrapped in a lettuce leaf for lunch - YUM!! I was only able to eat half my omelet this morning so Sadie was excited when she saw the plate hit the floor for her....she likes omelets...LOL!!!

      I hope your Atkins weekend is as good as mine has been.

        Boy, I haven't been on here in a long time! The berry field keeps me so busy that I don't have time to think of anything else. When I finally get back to the house after spending 12 hours at the sales shed, all I want to do is stretch out on the recliner and relax.

        I'm doing fine on my diet. I hadn't weighed myself for several weeks and thought I was feeling heavier and was getting a bit paranoid about it but when I checked, I hadn't gained an ounce! I was very relieved by that!

        Some things seem to have changed on the board while I've been away. I see ads everywhere now and I got messages about having too many pm's and too many images in my signature. And what's up with advertising other diet plans? That doesn't seem right, does it?

        Carole, I read in one of your posts that you have night blindness. I had it too for years but then I read that vitamin A cures it so I started taking it and now I'm fine! Try it and let me know if it works for you too.

          I've noticed the ads too Nyna -- it bothers me because it seems so may more newbies are talking about the low carb bread, or asking about "supplements" like acai berries and other things they are seeing - I bought the Fitday program because I got tired of everytime I put 2 or 3 food items in all the sudden I was directed to a site that was very hard to get out of -- I don't like that so I just broke down and got the program. It doesn't organize things as well as the free program does (you'd actually think it would be better at that since you pay for it) but it's ok and I don't have to put up with everything on the free site. I'm thinking the newbies see the ads and think the BB promotes the use of them - plus I keep getting mail from the Atkins Corp promoting their baking mix and pasta -- none of which I want to deal with.

          Congratulations on not gaining any weight while you've been in the sales hut!! Good for you. I haven't been as diligent as I should be with my exercising but it's a new month and I'm hoping to get back at it now. The garden is starting to run dry, we've pulled the green beans, lettuce and the grape tomato plant now -- we still have 5 tomato plants and a cucumber so I'm hoping to get maybe 1 more batch of spaghetti sauce done before everything runs dry!

          I miss having you here everyday. I have been eating blueberries a few times in the past month and always thought of you when I bought them!! I have really had to learn to weigh them and then force myself to stay away from them. The first quart I had I ate in 2 days!!!! This time I've put them in individual baggies and I know I can have 1 baggie then I done!!!

          Hope you are back soon -- like I said, I miss you.

            Yesterday was a blur - I probably did more than I should have but to stay upright and awake I needed to keep busy. I was going to go out early this morning for a walk but because the hubs works from home today I stayed in bed longer than normal...think I deserved it! I actually slept 9 hours last night. I was up 4 times checking on mom & bathroom duty but I was asleep most of those hours. It felt wonderful & I feel very good this morning.

            I'm living large this morning...ROFL! No omelet for breakfast...nope, not today! I had 3oz leftover parmesan chicken, 1/2c cottage cheese and a celery stalk....I know - lots of protein but that's what looked and sounded good this morning. I'm on a celery kick. For awhile I was getting dry stringy celery that I could hardly even chew but the celery in the stores now is big, crisp and tastes so good.

            Mom got up this morning, I fixed her a scrambled egg, a piece of toast and 1/2 cup of cranberry juice. That's what she wanted and she ate most of it - she did drink the juice and left about half of the rest. I got her 2 "Soup To Go" Chicken w/mini noodles yesterday and we have tomato soup - both are things I know she'll eat. Last night she did eat some mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner - that's the other thing I know she'll always eat. When we were in Iowa last month (and she wasn't feeling real good) she ordered mashed potatoes and gravy twice (nothing else). At least the fever has broken and she looks and seems to feel better this morning - this is day 3 -- that's normally when she starts getting better.

            It's another lovely day -- 70 degrees and it's 10:00 a.m. so it's not going to get much warmer today. The hubs doesn't go back into work until next Wednesday -- he works from home today and Tuesday --- Monday is Labor Day so he has off so I get to sleep in each of those days. Yea! Maybe we'll all be healthy by next week...I hope.

              I got up this morning and knew I had to do something with all the tomatoes we had in the windowsill - so I just finished putting spaghetti sauce into 7 half pint jars and they are now in the water bath. I left 4 tomatoes out to eat but it takes more now because they are smaller than in the beginning. This is also the first time I haven't measured everything exactly - I went by "eye" -- everything tastes the same so that's good!

              Had to stop half way through the process because I had to go get my meds. I forgot I didn't have any for tomorrow so instead of waiting until later I went around noon. I had to leave early enough to get back before the Missouri/Illinois football game at 2:30...LOL!!! 16-3 going into the half-- go Mizzu!!!

              We are having pork steak on the grill tonight -- always a crowd pleaser here...lol. I'll warm up a veggie and make a salad - that's dinner. I had a pablamo pepper stuffed with cheese for lunch -- yummie! That and a little guacamole on shredded lettuce - you'd have thought I was sitting at our favorite Mexican restaurant. El Carole is the new "restaurant" of choice...LOL

              It's been raining off and all since around 2:00 a.m. We've had hard rain, lightening and thunder and then it will stop for a few minutes and it will sprinkle or just mist for about a half hour.

              Time to get some dishes out of the sink and think about doing something (like exercise!!!!) this afternoon.

                Haven't been here in awhile -- not feeling great and things are a little out of sorts with me.

                Mom's been sick since last Wednesday and I guess I'm just tired. I went to the store today to get a few things we were out of (eggs!!!) and by the time I got home I was exhausted and wanted to lay down. Unfortunately I don't have time to lay down today. We're having an easy dinner tonight with little clean up afterward, hamburgers on the grill, salad and broccoli or brussel sprouts - haven't decided which yet.

                I haven't lost any more weight for awhile - which is disheartening, but I try to turn it around and remember I haven't GAINED any weight either. I've had several days that I would have just stopped Atkins but for some reason I just can't make myself stop.

                Maybe a couple good nights sleep and I'll feel more like doing things again. I'm doing minimum on exercising (in my mind) because I just don't have the strength to do them the way I feel I should. No problem with water - I can always get my water in!

                Ok - enough whining. Of to fix dinner.

                  Imagood, must be something in the air. I've felt lousy for the past week. A lot of my problems seem to be from allergens, so what the heck. I did fall off the diet for about six days, but not in a major way. Nothing like what I had done before I started the diet, but there were carbs.

                  Recommitted on Labor day. It's funny. . .when I was in the induction phase (about six weeks in) I felt great, didn't have any trouble with bloating, gas, etc. Now that I slipped up a tiny bit. . . .I'm fighting the bloating, gas, headaches, etc.

                  A little negative reinforcement.. .this is how you feel off of carbs. .. . this is how you feel on carbs. .. (yck)

                  Oh and congrats on the Illinis slaughter. . . . now if only good old I.U. could put the Hoosiers in a position to win a few more games. . .LOL

                    I stumbled upon this article about carbs and it's effects and how it can cause bloating and gas.
                    LOWER YOUR CARBOHYDRATES AND LOWER YOUR INSULIN LEVELS

                    It explains a lot and is great reinforcement for a knucklehead like me.

                      I enjoyed the article Hoosier -- I agree with what you said about it - great reinforcement....although most of that is in the DANDR already...lol!

                      Today was a good food day - and good blood sugar day. I was a little higher than I've been but yesterday I fought being too low from about 4:30p.m. until I went to bed.

                      Hope all is well with the world where you are -- it's great here in MO!

                        It's Friday - good thing because I'm ready for something different. The past week I've been very tired of everything....need to do something to make things better. Maybe I'll take a few days and do something differently. Just tired of the same old crap day in and day out.

                          I've been out of sorts lately too but it's mostly because of a lack of sleep. I have always had trouble sleeping, even when I was young so it's nothing new but it's very annoying. I didn't sleep at all last night so I got up just before 3am and had the kitchen cleaned and the floors scrubbed by 4. I suppose I'll collapse sometime during the day but as far as I'm concerned, I don't care if I ever sleep again because I'm tired of trying. The whole idea of 8 hours a night is a joke because in the best of times, I only get 8 hours a week.

                          I tried to read the article that HoosierDaddy mentioned but it wouldn't load for me. It sounds like something dh should read so I'll try again later.

                          It's been cold and rainy here for the past few days but the customers keep coming so I have to spend my time in the kitchen so I can hear the bells when they ring for service. And that has caused me to gain a few pounds because I spend my time around food with nothing else to do because I can't leave. But I've cut back on my eating and especially the snacking so I will soon shed what I've gained.

                          Now I need to pay some bills.

                            Hi Nyna --
                            How much longer does the blueberry season last there? I was going well until I had cottage cheese with blueberries in last week....then everything seemed to just go downhill......I guess it was too sweet and something snapped in my head.

                            I know what you mean about lack of sleep -- I was sick and not sleeping, then mom got sick for 8 days (which really means no sleep)....the lack of sleep was another that caused my carb crazed weekend. I was honestly so happy to wake up this morning, knowing I was going back to induction and getting back on track. I need to learn to sleep or at least rest when mom's sick because I'm not handling things well.
                            I took a nap this afternoon and felt much better when I woke up.

                            Tomorrow is payday so after I pay bills we need to go to the store and get a few things. I have a list of what needs to be put in for winter, so we'll start getting a few things now so we have them for later.

                            Hope things are better for you soon Nyna!!

                              Hi Carole, It sounds like we are both in the same boat, that is, let our guard down a little and gained a few pounds. But we both know we can get rid of them fast by just watching our diet closer than we have been

                              The day after I didn't sleep all night, I amazed myself. I was like the energizer bunny, I just kept going and going and going! I thought I would be exhausted but I wasn't at all. Maybe I should stay up all night more often!

                              I'm sorry to hear that your mom is sick again. I hope she's getting better. I know how much stress you must be under when she's not well and stess has done in many a diet. Remember, your health is as important as hers so please take care of yourself.

                              Blueberry season will last until we get a frost, probably near the end of this month. Today is a beautiful fall day, bright and sunny with just enough of a chill in the air to need a sweater. The leaves have started to change color and there are some nice reds and yellows already.

                              I know how easy it is to get bored with the same old thing, day in and day out. Maybe we just need a vacation, huh?

                                Glad you are stopping in more often again Nyna -- I really miss seeing you everyday. I bet you will be glad when the season is finished .... it's like our garden - we're really enjoyed having it but now it's getting tiring!

                                Last night Charlie had a couple extra boxwood bushes he didn't want to plant so he ask if I wanted them -- never being one to turn down anything "free" I said yes. Had to figure where to put them so I thought about it all night. Finally decided this morning after I mowed the lawn to put them where the post box is -- but I had to dig out all the weeds, rock and concrete that was there before I could plant them. It was 85 degrees when I started and close to 95 when I finished. I need 1 more boxwood and it will look nice -- hopefully they will grow....I normally don't have any trouble with landscaping but there's always a first time!

                                I had zucchini w/spaghetti sauce and a leftover hamburger pattie for lunch. After all that outdoor work I was very hungry. Dinner was parmesan chicken, canned spinach w/vinegar and a tossed salad w/ranch dressing.

                                My blood sugar was good today -- at 12:30 it was 90 and at 5:00 it was 81. I get my blood work done next week so we'll see if the numbers are better or not.

                                I'm tired so I'm going to go do a few things around the board and then go to bed. Glad you stopped!!
