Hi Everyone! It is a miserable cold rainy day here today! I wish I could have crawled back into bed, but I have to go to work....

I celebrated and bought a new frying pan last night after work! YEA! I have been meaning to do that and every day when I make my lunch, I think about it and then the thought is gone...(old age)

C'mon and talk!! It gets lonely here! I guess either we get more vocal or I have to cheat and join another group here...but this is home! LOL!

I'm here and well over 50--58 to be exact. I don't feel it most of the time and with the weight loss, don't look it as much as before. I have been enjoying our much improved weather here in Texas---rain and cooler temps. It is a blessing. After a few slips off Atkins, I'm really back and still found I lost another ten pounds with exercise. Still, I do better all over with Atkins rather than other diets. I just pain feel better physically and mentally. Im trying to start an exercise program and have to be careful with my back--have some significant troubles in the lower region there. Anyway, I over did it and will try and get back in the mode of working out for an hour three times a week. Anyway, I've gone down from 213 to 177 and it make s a big difference in all aspects of life. I wish all others in this forum the best. Take care. Mary

I have no idea what 50 is suppose to feel or look like - the only reason I know I'm in the category is because my birth certificate and drivers licence say it's so!

I've been doing TaeBo videos the past week or so -- I had TaeBo Funk to begin with and yesterday my neighbor gave me TaeBo Cardio 2004 - I did that this morning and man am I sore tonight!! She brought over her other one tonight TaeBo Boot Camp -- can't wait to try that.

I got off many of the challenges I've been doing over and over this month - I needed to shake things up so I'm only in the strength challenge (and the water challenge).

Ok, question. Why do men who are balding on top insist on growing what little hair they have long and wind it around to look like they aren't bald?

Ok, enough of the inquiring minds want to know stuff!

            Have a great Atkins week!

Monday Monday....back to work- Yesterday was SUCH a Fall day- cold, sun here and there-I was emotionally HUNGRY- so I decided to make a meatloaf....hmmm- then I realized it needed bread, rice, something, so I thought...but being the good girl that I am, I made it without and it was delicious! I used ground beef, onion, red peppers, eggs, heavy cream, garlic powder, olive oil, salt, pepper. I will take it for my lunch today...I bet it is even better left over!

I also made some egg custard and it was wonderful! 3 eggs yolks, 2 whole eggs, 1 cup heavy cream, 1 1/2 cups water, 8 packets of sweetner, 1 T of vanilla- mix until creamy, pour into custard cups and top with nutmeg- bake in custard cups (makes 6) in a baking dish half filled with water for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. It saves me from craving every time!

              192 and falling!

both sound really good! It's beautiful in Wisconsin today, perfect fall day. Have lots to do inside tho - it's my cleaning day, gets me ready for the week. Have a golf outing this weekend, so need to get all my work done today!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday

Gosh those two recipes sound delicious! Egg custard would really take care of my yen for sweet things! Thank you for your suggestions! It is a gloomy day here in this part of Texas and you have sent a little sunshine this way! Mary

I put the purple Halloween lights up on the porch today -- they look so much spookier than the orange. I have orange to put on the bushes away from the house for more light for the kids. It looks great out there now.

The custard sounds wonderful - mom use to make that in the winter when I was a kid. I don't know if I could only eat 1 portion though -- that is a weakness of mine!

We had polska kielbasa and sauerkraut w/caraway seeds and bacon in it for dinner - I just LOVE that meal!!!

I had a day off from exercise - yesterday I did TaeBo Cardio 2004 and I woke up so stiff I could hardly get out of bed.....so I felt a need for a day off. Tomorrow I'll do some walking and maybe one of the videos I have.

                    Have a great Atkins week!!

I'm back....again....Thanks for still being here

I haven't been posting at all for a few weeks/months. Lets face it, I'm being lazy, but, I'm still on plan, but not exercising except for my yoga.
I have been experimenting with carbs, such as squash, oatmeal, and we have had rice twice this week. I think it upsets my stomach, so, no more rice, or maybe just stay away from the grains. I do like the squash, but didn't realize that spaghetti squash is a winter squash! I will have to try the zucchini noodles you mentioned in a post, Carole. My zucchini in the garden produced ONE small vegetable! Lots of flowers but no "fruit", so I'll just buy them. We had spaghetti squash with meatballs and tomato sauce the other night, delicious.

For breakfast/lunch today I had Amy's Skillet Pizza from Linda's Low-Carb recipes. I used regular mozzarella cheese, with a portabello mushroom and some red pepper sauteed with 2 slices of chopped bacon. It was very good, altho' very greasy. I know my hubby wouldn't eat it, but my son would. After I walk the dog, I'm going to make some cauliflower soup, possibly for supper.

So, I will try to check in more often, and also try to cook more of the Atkins recipes.....and do some kind of exercise besides yoga .

                      Thanks again for being here,

                      Suzanne

Hi Everyone! I took a day off of work to get some stuff done- RARE thing for me- I'm glad you guys liked the custard- it is in the Atkins book...only it is called ginger flan- I am not a ginger fan so I make it like my mom did! One quick hint and I have NO idea why this works...when you pour the mix into the cups, pour it through a small seive or strainer...it comes out much smoother!

It sure looks ugly outdoors- we are under a Wind Advisory for overnight-I don't like wind AT ALL!! And I refuse to turn on my oil furnace- so me and the cats will be snuggling!(with the electric heater on!)

I have a dumb question- In the videos, he talks about powdered baking cocoa being allowed...is that true? If so, it would be a lifesaver for me! LOL! I know you have to count the carbs..but it is unsweetened....Anyone??

I think we have your winds here tonight, too. Wind Alerts Until Wed morning. We have had wind gusts in excess of 40 mph. and the house is shaking.

I bought the Hershey's cocoa a few weeks after I started Atkins. Then I recently read that it is really a OWL nut rung food so I guess I messed up with that. In the book I don't remember where it was mentioned as being OK.

It is unsweetened and what a pure chocolate flavor! I've used it a few times in my whey shakes and once made a chocolate "bar" with 2 TBS coconut oil, 1 TBS cocoa powder and a pkt of Splenda, then spread it out on a silpat and froze it. Broke it into pieces for eating. Was very good but I forgot chocolate has caffeine in it and I got a little caffeine buzz. Maybe I ate too much of it though.

It has fiber in it too so 1 TBS is only 1g net carb. I think it is a great product with wonderful, real chocolate flavor.

Ah- I guess it will be awhile until I am in OWL! So the cocoa powder will have to wait-and I did so enjoy a pinch in my coffee! Yes, I still drink coffee and it has not interfered with weight loss for me-I drink hit green tea the rest of the day - along with my water, of course!

Better just stay with the program of extended induction... I KNOW it works , so wy mess up a good thing?
