I need to give the eliptical a try. Do you have to be coordinated?

I am a self proclaimed klutz, so I think you'll be ok It def. is a great workout, and it works muscles that a treadmill just can't.

lol. I was seriously worried about that. It looks like such a smooth motion that I wondered if I could do it. I am goign to venture into the main gym soon instead of just walking by and heading straight to the pool.

I did my laps Thursday and they started having an arthritis class so I decided to stay a little for it then I realized I had to go to the bathroom but I felt embarassed about leaving in the middle of the class. Hoping I could get away quietly, I tried to get around the pool and the instructor said "Where are you going??" and it just echoed of the walls. I didn't know what to do for a moment and I just stood there, finally answering "Oh..uh..I really have to pee."

I mean, what do you do? I couldn't just not speak and all the little old ladies in the pool were looking at me. I enjoyed the half of the class I did though. It was fun. I need to try more things, my swimming is so solitary. I should branch out. They have a yoga class I would like to take. I just get so self conscious. I am also scared my arms or legs are going to give out on me.

You'll have to let me know how you liked it if you try yoga...I've always wanted to try it as well, but I have my own fears as to all the horrible things that could happen...I did take a hip hop dance class, and it was an intense workout..we spent probably 45 minutes actually doing stretching, and then strength exercises with a medicine ball, and only 10 minutes of actual dancing...I def. enjoyed it more then I thought I would...I need to branch out to, but the closest gym is 50 minutes away

Lol Porcelain... I probably would've ignored her and kept on walking like I didn't hear her. I personally love the group classes. I was super self-consious at first too but then I found that everyone else is concentrating on their own thing and not really paying attention to me at all! I haven't tried Yoga yet either but I'm sure you could do it. Just get there early so you can get a spot in the back and that way if you feel you need to leave you can slip out easily. What other classes does your gym offer?

Thank you Porcelain, Chick, and Liz. Chick, I thought about modeling for the little one but I don't want some stupid person getting fixated on her and then I'd have to go jail for hurting someone. Liz, you'd be surprised how much she looks like me. I wish I could post pics of me as child - you'd do the gasp thing. Seriously, it took me a long time to convince her that pictures of me when I was little were not her. She would point to them and say they were her.

I have all those fears, Sarah. I got my gym membership at a gym that is between my house and school so I will go when school is over.

Liz, here is a list of the classes. http://www.mvacelite.com/schedules/ I have class Monday night (1 to 5:30), and Tues and Thurs morning (8 to 12:30) I go swimming on Tuesday and thursday for sure after class and then a couple other days on the weekend, but I wanted to do some things at the gym that didn't involve swimming since my hair is going to crap. I hate bicycles and I don't know if I can handle any of the other classes. I would like tai chi but it is when I am in school. I will start going soon and working out with weights. I am starting to look forward to that.

The bad thing about being in the back of the class for the yoga class, it is a glass wall that points out to the main gym so EVERYONE in the main gym and walking by to the pool and raquet ball courts would see me doing yoga.

The Body Blast class sounds interesting. They offer that several times during the week. I bet you could definitely handle that one! Of course I would always recommend Turbo Kickboxing. Kick is my favorite class at Gold's. The key is to just give the classes a try... you can always leave the class early if you hate it. Who cares what anyone else thinks. Have you made any friends at your gym that could possibly go with you? You could agree to leave together if one of you doesn't feel comfortable in the class? I wish I was closer I'd go with you!

You know, there are things I could do at school. I get out of class at 12:30 on Tuesday and Thursday and I could go to the skills lab and work around the school until time to go to the kickboxing class. I could swim afterwards. I might start doing that. Usually, I just go straight to swimming after class. I do like martial arts type stuff. Believe it or not, I actually got second place in sparring when I was in college.

I do not have any friends at the gym but I have friends outside the gym that are interested in starting to work out. But between work and nursing classes, we hardly have any time together much less coordinating working out. Maybe this summer, one of the girls will come with me since she is taking summer classes too.
