Hi Carole, yes have read the book. Know I can't have the wraps. As I said in an earlier posting, I have been doing Atkins for five weeks, but not very cleanly for the past week. That was when I tried the wraps.

I'm back on track now and the wraps will be wrapped up and frozen until I can have them.

Thanks for your comments. It's good to know you care.

Hi Im Cristina and in Perth....only lost 3kgs on induction so I decided to stay there a bit and see what Ive done wrong...I think basically it was the serving size of vegies....I have started measuring my cups from raw now

I lost 30kgs in the last 6 months by regular dieting but that didnt help my diabetes at all.

Good new is though....my diabetes is responding 30 well Im off one drug, halved another and reduced another....never felt my head clearer...masses of energy....so there will be no going back...this is day 1 of week three!

hi alison.... Yes ...thats right... no wraps for you yet ... but a great addition for when you get to the appropriatephase.

Once you have finished induction the next phase is to add back more veges of the "allowed" kind.I am sure you will find all the info you need on that in one of the stickies. IN the beginning I decided to give induction a longer go to see if I could keep losing fast. It didnt happen so I moved on and then "it" did happen. Sometimes your body can get into a routine and its good to mix things up a bit by moving to the next rung.Make sure you are drinking all your water too!

Hi Christina, great to hear from you. I lost 5kgs on Induction. Four the first week and one the second (hmm strange). Great to hear your getting your diabetes under control. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which causes insulin resistance. I find it hard to lose weight because of it. If I don't lose some weight there is a big chance I will become a diabetic.

I haven't had a good journey so far on Atkins. I had a great (easy) first week, second week I had a heavy and painful period (sorry boys), third week I got the flu bad, fourth week I had a chest infection left over from the flu, had to go on antibiotics which put me out of ketosis and added a kilo and a half in water weight (didn't know that at the time, thank you Georgiana) and I panicked becaue I went out of ketosis and became despondent thinking I was wasting my time, so started eating carbs again (stupid, stupid, stupid). Finished antibiotics on Sunday and am still not in ketosis (Wednesday).

Still, here I am again, and started induction (again).

Maybe what you say Donna is a good idea. I should give it a kick start and start the next stage and add some veggies. Do I do that by adding 5gms more veggies a day for a week?

Thanks Girls. Great to know your there.

              Hey there

I only just checked this email and saw the post and wanted to let you know that you do not subtract fibre from labels. Our nutritional counts in Australia are different to America. Our food standards already subtract the fibre from the carbohydrate so the total carbohydrate amount is what it actually is for us. Also, our food standards actually count the actual amount of carbohydrates where as Americans don't, instead they include everything leftover as carbohydrate such as ash etc

For example broccoli for us is only 0.6g carbs per 100g whereas in the US it is more even after fibre is taken out.

Your best source for working out the carbohydrate counts is to use the Australian and NZ food standards nutritional panel calculator available on the food standards website. This calculator is what is used when making nutritional information labels on our foods in Australia and New Zealand.

Unfortunately, if those tortillas say 11.5g carbs then that's what they are!

              Sorry!

I'm mostly here but sometimes there....lol...sorry the diet has made my brain stranger

I'm on a one month of NOT weighing myself...i found the fluctuations in weight were detrimental to the right headspace to keep going...

I have a huntaway x lab one year old pup that is now paying his own way by walking with me 2-3 times a day at a min on 4-6km all up...this is ME the person that wouldn't go anywhere unless I could park outside!

                How's things for you?

Hi Christina. Haven't been here myself for a long time. Lost momentum completely.

Oohhhh I've been very bad. The October holidays brought me totally undone. If it doesn't have carbs in it, I don't want it !?!?! This diet seems to be all or nothing. I was soooo good when sticking to it religiously, but one lapse seems to bring everything crashing down. The holiday period did it for me.

I have a dog too. Border Collie x Blue Heeler. Loves walking, I don't. Still we struggle round the block a few times.

I just had blood test results back and my cholesterol is up. Don't know what it was like before I started Atkins, didn't think to get it tested. I see the doc on Wednesday, so will find out then how bad it is. I can only guess what she will tell me to do diet wise.

Hope everything is well with you.

                    Hi Alison

I think what gets me through...this time is that I treat each day as a new start...no matter what I did or didn't do yesterday today is clean...no guilt no regrets...just keep moving

I dislike summer and I detest the sun to the point of hiding...people think I'm mad....I might be lol...so I'm going to set the alarm and go walking b4 it's hot...and then again when its cooler in the evening...it's taken me ages to not care what I look like when I'm walking...I bought massive red sunglasses lol...and its like a mask...I'm walking so out of my way!

I know I don't do everything right but the weight is still coming off...I'm sure it will be more difficult once I'm closer to goal...but that's ummm ages away...summer fruit *drools* will be difficult

Good idea, starting new every day. It's working for you. You have lost a massive amount of weight. Well done.

I'm back up to 88.5kgs after my two week carb binge so will be back on track tomorrow when I shop and get the right stuff back in the pantry.

Not too good with the summer heat myself. Love my air conditioner. Have bought a treadmill and will get on that on the days I can't get outside due to the heat. Dog won't be happy tho.

Keep up the good work Christina
