    Re: Australia

Glad to get some feedback on how they taste. I had a look here but was a bit wary of trying something I couldn't taste. I will order the wraps now as we used to make shawermas at home and I really miss them, so I'll try the wraps. Has anyone tried their soups?

      Another Aussie checking in

I started low-carbing back in 1998, lost about 40KG in 8 months, had a change in living arrangements, and put it all back on

Now I am trying to remember how I did it back then. I remember always being satisfied, but these days, I often feel hungry

I used to get quite a lot of stuff from the US back then - even had 2 lots of microwave pork rind 'pop corn' stopped by customs ( ).

Hope to get back in the grove now though.

Welcome Photonbuddy. This board is great for support. It's not all Yanks either, there is quite a few people from the UK as well. All over the world in fact.

My advice with ATkins is buy the book, read it throroughly (I'm still learning stuff) and reduce those carbs. If you are hungry, up the fat intake. I use http://www.fitday.com (see my signature) to track my food. I am the type of guy that hates tracking things, but since I started last week I can really improve how I'm doing thing here!

Good Luck and make sure you post in the Newbies section on the main board!

I actually started with Protein Power. Read the book through, but kinda modified it to suit my style. It worked brilliantly until things changed in my life. I'm determined to get back in the groove though.

Hey everyone... I was a regular here till about a year ago and everything went pearshaped diet wise. On the up side I have not gained so much as an ounce so something must have changed in me. I admit to not eating all the dense carbs I once would have and eat only green salads and a few oranges, green apples and strawberries outside of my protein intake. I find I hate the way I feel if I eat bread Yuck!! Anywho... I decided that it is time to climb back on board... and shift the remaining pudge that stubbornly clings.

I note that there are a few people geographicaly close by to where I am from (relatively speaking that is) so I hope we can have a great support group here now... Yay for the Aussies.

Oh I am from Foster on the mid North Coast of NSW

                  Hey welcome back!

Glad to see you have not gained weight!

It sounds like you were kinda eating at what would be a maintenance level anyways!

                      How's this for a bargain!

I had bought several Atkins Advantage bars - fruits of the forest flavour in the past, and about 2 weeks ago, spotted them for $1.35 (about $3 off normal), as they were short-dated to expire in March, at my local Wollies.

Tonight, I finally got around to buying in bulk, and noticed they had dropped the price to just 99 cents each. I promptly bought all they had left, which was 23.

                      Seriously chuffed at that

                        Re: Australia

Yeah that's a good price. I bought about 80 before christmas at $1.80 each.

Those fruit of the forest bars are bing discontinued by ANA I believe. They are not the best tasting of all the bars.

I love the CHocolate Decadence ones!

                          Re: Australia

I might pay a visit to other local Woollies stores and see what I can find. Mind you, not much use buying hundreds of them with only a month to go on them. Still, having 2 a day, I could do with another 40 or so

I actually quite like the fruits of the forest bar. I did have one of the other flavours once, and it was pretty good, but I usually buy HPLC bars because I think they are far better value, if not quite as tasty.

                            Re: Australia

Those bars are not recommended by most on this board. The preference is to eat 'whole' foods.

If you consume them I would say no more than one a day, and not more than say 4 a week.

If you find the weight loss is stalling and you are eating those bars, they could be the reason.

I am glad you added that information Dave
Even the Atkins website used to have a page advising you that some people are stalled by eating their bars, shakes and other products, with the advice to drop them if they affect you!!

I did a quick trawl of their site just now but that advice seems to have vanished!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                                Re: Australia

I agree about the bars... frankenfoods I believe is the nickname.

I found that that stuff made me cling onto cravings and in no way helped me kick the habit of reaching for cereal or chocolate bars. There really are some great snack recipes in the appropriate threads in here anyway... give em a try they will save you money aaaand speed up the process of moving away from the foods that got you to this forsaken wilderness of chub in the first place.

Thanks to everyone for their warm welcome back ... ooooo and luuuurve Potsville, it was originally one of the places we were going to settle in when we decided finally to move here.

So far so good back on the wagon... as we speak I have a batch of lamb cuts (Marinated for a good few hours in a tasty dry rub) baking away for me to store in the fridge. I forgot how much I enjoy the food.

Ohhhh yes... I was very closely following the maintanance plan when I checked what I was eating... but that was more good luck than well planned. I truely need to cut back on the low carb stuff and add more fat if I am going to strip some of the weight off... lets see if I can do it huh!
