    Re: Australia

Hey Flossie I'm in WA and am new on the boards. 2nd time around doing Atkins this time permanently. Last time I got ten kilo from goal and then plopped it all back on plus some. No more carbs for me. Also an expat yank but I converted to kilos before applying for my Australian citizenship. (I don't like to consider myself an expat yank, I prefer to believe I was born 'hemispherically challenged').

Hi I know no one has posted here for awhile but I thought I'd give a call out to all the Aussies in here. How many of us are there floating around in here and where are you all.
I'm Dee, 33, I live on the Gold Coast with my 5 children and my husband, who actually works overseas. I currently weigh 97kg and to date I have lost 18kg and am doing extended induction, week three.
My mini goal is to hit that 90kg mark by Christmas or atleast be on the under side of the five on the scale. I am aiming to be within reach of goal by my birthday in Early April. It will be a challenge but I think I'm up for it.

Next goal is to break 90kg (198lb):D

                          Anybody there ....?

In case there is, hi, I'm Alison from Northern New South Wales. Looking to talk to some Aussies.

Been on Atkins (not very cleanly) for 5 weeks now. Still stuck at 5kgs I lost on Induction. Had flu, antibiotics, binges, etc, but now hoping to stick to it a bit longer, need some friends to make the journey easier. Hello?

Anywhoo, I just found a low carb wrap which is rather nice. Find them in Coles, called Diego's reduced carb wraps. They have 11.5g per wrap and 11.4g fibre, so I'm guessing each wrap is 0.1g carb? Can that be right? Hope so.

                          Hope someone comes by soon.
                          Alison

                            Hello Alison...

I did atkins for 2 years and lost 30 kilos over that time ( yay) however a trip to Europe packed some of that back on ..very hard to low carb on holidays when everywhere there are waving 'Panne au Chocolate' under your nose! So I am back on the wagon with a vengeance as I am getting married in January and want to be back to 'slim me' by then!
I have not tried the diegos wraps as I thought they were too high in carbs .. but as you have pointed out ..you need to remove the fibre figure from the equation to get a proper idea of the carbs that will affect your diet.. So I am gonna give them a go. IN the past I used to get the empower wraps from the health food shops at about 4 g carbs per wrap.I used to fry them and melt cheese etc in them to make quesadillas ( MMMM) Lately I have not been able to get the empower wraps though.
I found the ADBB a great help when I was here the first time , I had my own business and could use my laptop at work etc and I posted quite often and spent a fair bit of time digging thropugh the posts. Now I am working for someone else so dont have as much time online, but I still get the Aussie thread people through my email.
Atkins takes time and you wont always lose at the same rate ..you will find things go up and down for awhile then a bit more comes off. so you need to be patient. There are lots of factors that can make an impact on your losses too. After induction many people have a stall ( PISS ..Post Induction Stalling syndrome) I broke mine by hopping into the more veges phase and then things got moving again.I hope this has been of some help to you

                            Cheers

Donna, thank you for responding. Great to hear you lost 30kgs! That's fantastic. I need to lose another 20kgs so I'm hoping Atkins is the way to go.

I'm sure you will lose the weight for your wedding in January. As you said slowly does it and it will happen. I was hoping to be down to my goal weight by Christmas, but who knows?

I haven't heard of PISS (unfortunate name!) but I'm sure I had it when I was on antibiotics last week. When you said you added more veggies was that the next phase up from Induction? I have gone back to Induction because I have been out of ketosis since last Tuesday (11/8/09) due to starting the antibiotics. I re-started Induction on Monday (17th) and am still not back in ketosis (devastated - I love to see the pee sticks turning pink, makes me feel better).

Yes you have helped me Donna. I have been floundering the past week and am glad to have some information about what was happening.

                              Thanks Alison (Grafton NSW)

wraps - low-carb or not aren't allowed on induction or extended induction. The only foods allowed are those on the acceptable food list. Have you read the book and do you understand what you are suppose to be eating? Check the links below and get a copy of the book.
