  • Re: Welcome to the Second Time Around Club

This is also my second time around. I lost 50 pounds before (last year)Had a stent put in and a stroke.I just found out I was borderline diabetic. I do know the last time on Atkins that I felt better than ever. I think everyone, including myself thinks of weightloss first and health sorta last. What I mean is we all won't to look good and be healthy to live longer, but I think it has helped me to realize that by eating the right foods, not only can I stop taking high blood pressure, chols. etc. that I can live a more productive life. I do think its a shame that we have been on diets and that even some spices have hidden sugar. I wish I had of Know of Dr. Atkins years ago. What a Blessing it would have been. I think alot of us know that being fat has kept us out of alot of things in life. Ex. I married at 29,sisters and brothers married at 18. You don't have to marry to be anything but where I came from you wasn't supposed to leave home unless you were married, and man what a crock.lol I always planned to have a career and do my own thing but all that was wrong. My husband died when I was 35. I had a career at that time and was shot,so it was blown to **** and back. I've been with someone 15 yrs. and just found out he was cheating. I was blown away. Anyway, this time around, I am loosing weight because I won't to,for ME. I have always thought of everyone but me. So look out world, this is for me. Now at 50 lol you may think its to late but it's not. I am just know beganing to live. I won't to live life to the fullest.

        Hi,

It's been another month since my last progress report. I didn't make my labor day goal, but I did lose so I'm happy. FYI the mistake I found that I made with my first minigoal wasn't how much I wanted to lose, but having a set day. For me I'm going to say something like "I want to lose 10 lbs for my 2nd goal, but I'm not going to say "Ten lbs by Halloween".

That is a great idea, Charlotte!

Although it is tempting to set a date it is much better to concentrate on the pounds lost never mind how long it takes!

And congratulations on those 25 pounds kicked to the curb!!

Yes I'm up for the STAC club......I lost 14 kg 4 years ago on Atkins and I felt wonderful again. Really energetic you know?

Well the 14 crept back on again and here I am...........Now I think in lbs that's about 32 lbs but to be honest I really need to lose about 25kg.

            So here goes.......

              Hey everyone... )

I'm also up for the STAC--I began Atkins 3 years ago, and over the course of that year, lost over 75 lbs. I looked good, had energy and strength and felt awesome! I was able to maintain for a short while, but big life changes stressed me out, made me lazy, and I slowly went back to my old unhealthy ways and my old "fat" clothes.

I am glad to be back--it's wonderful to have that energy and endurance every day! I re-started on August 17, and I've gone down one full size so far. I have not weighed myself in a while--I want to wait a couple more weeks and I don't want to become addicted to the scale!

I'm so glad I found this board--I've been reading the posts and getting great ideas and inspiration. It's nice to find a group with the same goal as I have!

I lost 28 lbs in 2004, then had a heart condition diagnosed and came off Atkins. Heart condition is resolved, but my weight has gone back up again due to recently having had pneumonia, and my husband being diagnosed with cancer at the same time. Stress has triggered a pattern of comfort eating. I now have the same amount of weight to loose as I did then, but I've done it before, and I'll do it again. I was on the Induction phase which I love, for a long time before. A year to be exact. It's just soooo easy! Anyway, wish me luck! Micki

Well, I'm going to try this again! I lost 20 lbs. in 2003 on Atkins, but as some others - quit eating the right way and have gained it all back. I have found that I feel better (fewer hot flashes!!!!) when I eat the low carb way and in May found out I HAD breast cancer - so after a summer of surgeries and radiation I gained weight because I, too, got into a pattern of comfort eating (so easy to do!) but NOW I'm ready to get back to it and know I will feel better and will be eating low fat. As long as I get my vegetables in I'll be doing great - will be eating less cheese and meat, but hopefully will get the veggies in I need. Thanks for listening!
