I am so glad that I have no appointments at UVA until April 11th. This is highly unusual, so God must be looking out for me. We've got snipers shooting cars/people at the exit I use to go to my appointments. A bunch of people got text messages prior saying it was going to happen as a gang initiation. Scary! This used to be such a safe place to live until the gangs moved down from New York and D.C. Closing the Interstate would force you off onto U.S. Route 250 and then you would be a sitting duck.
WOW, now that's scary! I pray that they catch them and you are safe Sunny. My goodness is there not a need to pray.

The first song is just called "Healing". It was written by Roger Bennett as he struggled with a rare form of leukemia. He died last year at just 48. He never lost sight of his faith or let his health get him down. This one is beautiful, but extremely difficult to sing. Here are some of the lyrics.
"If you're in the valley of the shadow of death
You think that your time is at hand
Don't think for a moment He's forgotten your name
At the crossing of Jordan true healing begins..."

He also wrote a song called "In His Grip"
Roger knew that the Lord was in control. He borrowed an expression, "In His Grip," and routinely used it as the closing for his correspondence. He even wrote a song by that title which Legacy Five recorded.
"He has heard my heart's request,
In His grip of grace I rest."

The second song is called "Healer Of My Heart" which has beautiful music as well as words.

I was torn up by a neighbor's dog when I was seven, and I was terrified of them for years. Strangely enough, when I married for the first time, my in-laws had a nasty little Pekinese that bit me all the time and I actually got over my fear. They used to say, "how could a little dog like her hurt you?," as I had blood running down my leg. She was so stupid that she bit the wrong person all the time. She didn't like hitting, so my husband would 'play' hit me and the dog would bite me instead of him. She also hated the paper boy, so when he came to collect, she would bite me as I paid him. I have loved dogs ever since and am no longer afraid of them, but I was delighted when that one died.

This church feels like home. The last church, (even though I went for almost 3 years), people would always act like I was new and had never been there before. At the current church, they come up and hug you. It's good to have found somewhere I can go and celebrate being in God's presence.

This sounds like a great church. I am so glad that God led you to it. See--good things came from the tough love when you sent your brother packing and Tashiana went back to that church's after school care!

The church you used to go to sounds like the one I tried out right before this one. I didn't stay but for a few months before I knew it was not where God wanted me to be. I used to not be much of a hugger, but I've gotten over it at this church. We have a 'meet & greet' at the opening of each service and you are likely to have the stuffing hugged out of you before we go back to our seats to sing the opening hymn. When we are singing the invitation hymn, the pastor invites everyone forward to kneel at the altar steps to pray, and it brings tears to my eyes to see little children go up and kneel and pray. When we concluded the Maundy (Holy) Thursday service, the pastor asked for silence for 15 minutes and invited all that wanted to come to the front to do so. One of the choir member's son (about 10) came forward and kneeled and prayed for a long time. He then sat on the steps and began to read his Bible. He was still there long after the church was nearly empty and his mom went to hurry him up and he told her that this was his quite time with God. I was so proud of him!

I don't know what it is about me....but men don't want to LET GO!! I even had to go to court because of it (first husband). I'm trying so hard to figure out how I pick up that personality type. It has to be something. Heck, you would think with the profile on eHarmony it would be better. Oh well...I won't date again unless God is LOUD and CLEAR that someone is THE ONE.
The profile is written by the person. They can write anything. It's not likely that a control freak stalker is going to put that in his profile.

After two marriages, I decided not to date any more. Every time I go to an appointment at UVA, they have to ask the same questions each time I check in, even though it's always the same answers. One of them is: "Does your spouse have insurance under which you are covered?" I always answer, "I still don't have a spouse--with or without insurance. I've been happily divorced for the last 20-something years, and plan to stay that way." When I went to my last appointment with the surgeon, there was a guy standing behind me, and after I spouted my spiel, he said: "You can't say that for sure! You don't know what God has planned for you. You could walk out of here today and meet him on the street." To which I replied: "Well, then, God had better plunk him down right in front of me, burn a bush and send a lightening bolt down to carve in a couple of stone tablets that this is him!" The whole place broke up in laughter.

I have learned over the years that I had to learn to enjoy my own company. I am seldom lonely. I would rather be friends with men than ruin a good friendship by having a relationship. I am such a strong person with lots of abilities that the guys that are attracted to me are weak and lazy. They want someone that can do it all. They never felt emasculated by letting me do it all.

      Sunny!

This is getting really scary! Where you see the star at Waynesboro represents where three businesses and cars were shot into, and my grandson lives in sight of this place. He waits for the school bus right across the street from the Dupont Credit Union that was fired upon. Please pray. This is reminding me of when those two snipers were shooting people within sight of where my brother's family attends and teaches school near Richmond. The school where my s-i-l teaches and the school where my nephew attended was locked down for 12 hours back then. My brother couldn't get to either one of them. This is too scary for words!

Had a fantastic day! I didn't need to choke the surgeon as I was cookin with oil today!!! I had everything perfect & in her hand before she even asked for it. I gave her absolutely no reason to want for anything. She told me afterwards that I did a great job. I just smiled pretty & said "This ain't my first rodeo!"

Sunny your news is frightening. I need to get on MSNBC or CNN & see what is goin on.

          Enjoy your evening!

I am a nervous wreck. When I am stressed, I cook. I've cooked enough today for an army. I don't think I have eaten too much, but it was all high calorie legal comfort food. I have to stop now because I've already had dinner and now that I will be idle, I will want to stress eat. I've had to wash dishes about a dozen times today--good thing washing dishes is therapy for me. It's a shame today has been so rainy. Yesterday I was outside all day and hated to quit to shower and go to choir practice, today it's warm, but has rained all day.

The superintendent of the schools in the other counties closed schools because of the danger of kids driving to school or waiting for the bus. But the idiot superintendent where my grandson and my oldest brother's great-granddaughter, Blu, goes to school decided there was no danger, so our schools were on regular schedule. Blu's school is within sight of the Credit Union that was shot up. I can't believe I used to have a huge crush on this guy in 10th grade! I used to spend the night with his sister just to get to see him.

I have to wonder about gang members doing the shooting though. They've got a picture of the car that they think was at the scene of the Credit Union shooting, and it's an AMC Gremlin. What self-respecting gang banger would drive a Gremlin??

At least they didn't have sports tonight. My grandson, Brett, plays for Waynesboro and his half brother, Matthew, plays for Stuarts Draft. They were scheduled to play against each other tonight.

WAYNESBORO — Tonight's Stuarts Draft-Waynesboro boys' soccer games have been postponed because of security concerns. Waynesboro School Board chairman Doug Norcross confirmed the postponements to News Leader sports writer Ron Hartlaub this afternoon.

Hello, Hello, Hello my Derby Sisters!
You have my undevided attention for the moment. I'm missing all of you ladies like crazy.
CAT, I'm happy to hear you kicked the stalker to the curb. That's all you need is a control freak. I agree with MS. There's plenty of fish in the sea. God has a plan. Just be patient and God will send you yout true love when you least expect it. I'm glad to hear you're on the Calcium W/ D. I've been on it for three months now and It's like the difference between night and day in how I feel. Much stronger with less pain. Wow, what a difference. I think this may be the ticket for you as well.
SUNNY,That is something you and I both have in common. We both like to cook when we need to work something out or are stressed. I do my best thinking in the kitchen cooking. That is simply tragic with what is going on with that sniper. You would think that they would stick out like a soar thumb in that gremlin, ha? I'm happy to hear you don't have any appt. for that neck of the woods. We wouldn't let you go anyways.
KASS, Thank you sweetie for your kind words. Yes, the board keeps me pretty busy. Between the No Sweets challenge and hostessing and attending to my own interest on the BB, I find myself without enough time to get to everyone by the end of the day. Jusy know that I have each and every one of my Derby sisters in my thoughts and prayers. It is my sisters here that kept me here when I had thoughts of leaving this board. I am forever greatful to my sisters for helping through difficult times. Thank you!
MARTY, Sre you back from your trip to Idaho yet. Or are you taking the long way back. Whichever the case may be. Get home safe and come tell us all about your trip. I'm anxious to hear. You smoking hot grandma YOU!
Glenda,Hope your day went well with the surgeon from . I'm glad to hear the Red Bobins are finally showing up at your place. Come on Spring! You deserve some sunshine your way.
Lashon, Lisa, waving hello to you wonderful ladies. Keep on keeping on!
Katie, WELCOME to the Derby thread.
If I missed anyone, I do apologize. to all of you!
I had a heck of a night last night. DD spilled a hot cup of tea on her leg and got second degree burns. My poor angel girl. We've been very attentive to her and her burn. Please say a little prayer for no infection developing and that it heals well. Okay?
I'm very happy to be part of such an awesome group of ladies. Love you all!
                  Sincerely, Sherri
P.S. I'm still counting on all of us meeting up at the Oprah Show.

Good morning, Derby Sisters! It's a glorious morning, filled with sunshine and warmth! It's 66 degrees already!

A quick update: They have arrested one person and have found the AMC Gremlin abandoned and disabled in Albemarle County, where the snipers were shooting. This makes it look like the shots fired in Waynesboro are related to the sniper shots in Albemarle County. The area where shots were fired in Greenwood will get a lot of action. That area is filled with mansions and very rich people. Albemarle County has more millionaires per capita than Beverly Hills, CA. The richest man in the world once owned a mansion in Albemarle County.
Police also were trying to determine whether shots fired at a bank in Waynesboro between midnight and 2 a.m. Thursday were connected to the highway shootings. Waynesboro Police Sgt. Kelly Walker said four bullets struck the building, a sign and an unoccupied van in the parking lot.

Walker said police found a light-colored AMC Gremlin seen on surveillance video around the time shots were fired. The car had been abandoned along U.S. 29 in Albemarle County. Walker said it was his understanding that the car was disabled.

The early Thursday shootings had motorists and police on edge in a region where memories of the deadly Beltway snipers still haven't faded.
