Gosh, I posted here last night and I'm looking through and don't see it. I'll start over.
I wanted to report the exercise minutes that I've accumulated so far and let everyone know that I am still focused and on plan!
I'm happy to see new faces here, welcome Bekka and Glenda, happy that you joined us here. The more the merrier I say!
Good luck on your new job Bekka,! I agree with the girls, YOU ARE BRAVE! You'll do just fine. You know what those carb poisons do to you, enogh to stay away from them, right?
Kass,, I here you on the soy. It's something that I use in moderation too. Because of the water retention afterwords. It will melt right back off of you.
Cat, how does it feel to be another year older? I hope you had a wonderful day! Did you do anything to celebrate?
Sunny, I hope you woke up to a better day hon. I'm so proud of you. You inspire me every day knowing what you endure on a daily basis. When I think of you exercising, I push myself to go even more.
O.K., that's it, where's Marty? Cat already threatened her with the big , I supose it's time to get the chippendale dancer out, ha Sunny.
Hi Tracy & Jersey, How are you ladies doing? I'm so glad everyone is here!

O.K ladies, another day. Lets get our water in and get moving. What did you all pack for food today? Plan, Plan, Plan! Planning and following through with them will get you to goal! Wishing all of you a great day!
I've been exercising every day and would like to post my minutes for our challenge.

          Challenge Check In
          1/01/08 thru 1/07/08

          Goal: 144 minutes treadmill
          Met: 147 minutes treadmill

I learned a lot on this first week of the Derby Girls Challenge. Initially I tried to function at a higher incline and speed and it caused me problems (due to old car wreck injuries) so this weekend I dropped the incline back to zero and that allowed me to easily increase my speed - yay! And today I'll experiment with increasing my daily minutes - hopefully double!

Lest any of the DGs think I'm a slug, I want to mention that I do include many other activities in my daily routine - just haven't included them in my Challenge totals: schlepping a 5 gallon bucket of water to the barn every morning (1 gallon = 8+ lbs); carrying my poor old 35lb dog up a flight every night, activities of daily living like grocery shopping, work, household etc.

Big THANKS go out to all of YOU for your support and inspiration - you really make a difference in my life. I'm determined to get healthy and strong in 2008

              Good Morning all!

I was away this weekend so have to catch up on FOUR pages of posts!
Welcome to all who joined! So glad to have more to help with support and be supported!!

I hit 145 on Friday! I was up this am but I stuck to the plan all weekend, took peanuts in portioned baggies, cheese chips, etc. I know peanuts are higher but I wanted to stick with it. TOM is looming and I'm really on edge today with boss, etc... lord help me! I'll be praying all morning for that extra guidance today.

              Todays menu should be:
              B-hamburger and broccoli mixture
              L- chef salad with ranch
D- not sure yet, maybe broccoli/tomato omelette or baked chicken?

I need to get to the store but have things on hand for now. I also have tuna/mayo here at work. Maybe I'll make egg salad with celery, onion, green peppers for lunch this week? Put that on a bed of lettuce, yummm!

Even with TOM, I'm determined to make this weeks goal on the 10th! We can do it ladies!

Ok-will be back later after I get a chance to review all the posts!

              Happy Birthday Caterina!!!!!!

It appears that we are all decrepit in one way or another! We will just prove to the world that no matter what shape we are in, you can find a way to exercise and get stronger and healthier!

When I was on a challenge with 20-something gym rats, I would feel like I had to keep up, no matter how much pain or further damage that might inflict. On here, I know I can take it at my own pace and stop if it hurts too bad. RSD pain (and all the neurological problems that come with it) is a cycle; the pain feeds off pain. Once I get a flare under control, it usually stays relatively calm until I do something dumb to set it off again. Exercising until I am in severe pain is one way to set it off. Another is to be in the cold and wind too long, so my going to the Food Pantry in the severe cold, when I was already in a lot of pain, was just too much. It's supposed to be nice this Thursday, but if it turns out cold, I won't be going out.

I'm not going to count last Monday's 80 minutes, so I will be reporting my minutes tomorrow. I will be able to walk today and probable lift weights, but not 5-pounds like I intended.

                Stay strong, Derby Girls!

                Sunny!

Being born with straight hair I've always wanted naturally curly hair! Isn't it funny how you straighten your hair and I curl my hair???? We always seem to want something different! huh?

Thank you. I must admit it's easier to manage now. My hair was so thick and curly and would get tangled so easily. I would wash it and let it air dry (if I tried to control it then I paid the price). I would start out with this semi-flat hair in the morning (wet) but by noon had the serious bush going on. It was definitely BIG hair.

I worked at Mickey D's when I was in college and found that I developed an aversion to it. I couldn't even go in a McDonald's for almost a year after I quit. Just the smell. Ack!! I hope you develop the same aversion to the sweets.

I weighed myself the yesterday and had put on a couple of pounds. I went back to track what I had eaten and it was the soy sauce in the recipe. I got it from Linda's site and it has the * next to it for an induction recipe. I should have known as much soy sauce as I used to eat. Anyway, I refuse to update my siggy and go backwards. HA!

                              TOTAL: 296 minutes
Great job staying on "track" despite the circumstances. Now, that's what I call DEDICATION!!

I relaxed yesterday. I made sure to get everything done on Saturday. That was my birthday present to myself (relaxation). I actually feel really good today. Everyone says I'm on the "downward" slope (age-wise) but I turn it around and tell them yes my weight has been downgoing and that Atkins is lovely way of living. I also throw in that they are jealous and I look good for my age (tee hee)!!

                                Tracey
Thanks Tracey!! Don't beat down your boss!! I haven't had tuna in a while. I might need to try that once my Mom leaves. She's allergic to fish and I don't want to cause any reaction for her. I'll whip up some Tuna Muffins once she's safely at home.
