  • Re: Kentucky Derby . . . . . . Keeping on Track

Good afternoon! It's really cold, but the sun is shining bright, so it feels like spring. I thought today would be hard with the time change, since I already have to get up so early to make it to church for the early service, but it went real well. Today, I had to dress a certain way because of the special music, and I still can't believe that my hair cooperated! It usually gives me a fit and won't do anything when I have to be in front of the public, but if I'm staying home and no one will see me, it always looks great. It must have gotten confused.

Anyway, I got to church on time and wow, what a great sermon we had! The whole church was pumped! Then, for the second service, it was baptism Sunday. I'm a Baptist, so we dunk them under the water. The associate/youth pastor was away with the youth, so Pastor Temple had to baptize 12 people by himself. We sang very well with almost no practice, so all in all, it was a wonderful day!

We've had almost no practice for the Maundy Thursday service, and almost none for the special Palm Sunday cantata. That's next Sunday! We are singing the full version of Hallelujah Chorus, and most of us have never sang it. I am singing a duet for the Maundy Thursday service (standing room only crowd) and the other half has severe bronchitis and we have never practiced together! We are supposed to be singing "Ten Thousand Angels"--I'm scared!

The yeast-free diet is not too bad this time, since I have come up with yummy foods that are legal. The guacamole turned out great, and that makes up for not being able to have mayo and mustard on my bland meat, like turkey breast. The omelet with roasted asparagus and Hollandaise sauce was outstanding. The only thing I did wrong was roast the asparagus too long and it was too done. I didn't think the Hollandaise sauce would take so long to make. It's supposed to warm up well, so next time I use it, it won't take so long.

Tomorrow, I visit the surgeon for the last time, I hope. I am healing really well and it looks good. I got past the infection under the healed incision without antibiotics, so that is a plus. It's still a little sore and swollen, but not red and hot to the touch.

I'm going to rest. Long week ahead.

Cat--I'm sooooo jealous that you can handle pinto beans! Mmmmmmmm a big pot of beans, a bowl of greens and a hunk of cornbread and I would be in Heaven! I can dream, can't I??

    Sunny!

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Good evening DG. I just wanted to check in real quick. Brittany and I are both doing better. We rested this weekend. Tomorrow, hopefully she can go back to school because it's picture day. I will see how she does tonight and in the morning.

I am on track with my eating. My cough medicine threw me off a little because it has a little sugar in it. I did buy the Diabetic brand but my doctor wanted me to take the GOOD STUFF with CODINE in it to help control this cough....WHEW....LOL It does work well. I was coughing so badly at night. But again I am feeling better and still determined to keep going.

Sunny- I am glad you were able to go to church and ministered well in song. I hope all goes well at the doctor.

Kass - That califlower macaroni looks really good. I have never seen that. Good job on your exercises too.

Cat- girl you are just jamming, aren't you with your workouts.... keep up the good work.

Glenda I like that quilt..... very nice.

Liz, Lisa - Whats up with yall ladies... I hope all is well. Lisa hang in there girl, I know it can be frustrating living away from home. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon for you and your family.

Marty, Sherri - how are you gals doing?

If I missed anyone, please charge it to my head and not my heart. Yall have a blessed up Monday!

Good Evening ladies.... wheew catching up from Friday was a long read...

As you see I made it out of the backwoods... Those horrible weather people led me to believe that it was going to be a beautiful weekend... Cold at night, which I expected, but the wind was horrible all day Sat. I now have a windburned face to go with my aching back. I love to camp, but my back DOES NOT like sleeping on the ground. I felt like Sunny's dog picture this morning... Not a pretty site. At least I can say all 8 boys were great this weekend and they food was also actually good....

Lashon: Glad to hear that you and your DD is feeling better. Keep it up.

Caterine: But I am sorry that you are not...

We'll as Glenda to send a get well soon spell on all of you.

Cat: I am proud of your weight loss accomplishment. WAY TO GO !!!!

Kass: Back to Curves and cookin girl. Your energy is AMAZING !!

Sunny: Can I come to your house too??? I'll let you have the greens (some southern girl I am huh?) but would love to sit and talk.

Lisa: I'm glad to hear you are getting some home cooked food. I second the motion that it's good to eat out from time to time.. but I'd rather eat at home most nights.

Glenda: Love the quilt work. I always wished I could do that. I cross stitch when I get the time (not likely lately) but not tried the quilting.

Sherri: Where are you girl?? Missed you camping!!

I'm dead here so I'll say goodnight.. Love and to everybody.

              Morning Ladies,
It is actually almost 1am here. I just finished a paper that is due tomorrow. I pray that I am not exhausted in the morning. I did wait until the last minute to start working on it. But it feels good to be done.

              Have a Happy Monday Ladies!

Glenda, love the quilt. Make me one and send it to me or better yet...stop by my house on the way to Sunny's and I'll go with you.

Kass, I also had a Holly Hobby quilt that my Mom and I made when I was in the 4th grade.

Marty, I'm so happy to see you back and that you survived.

Sunny, I'm praying for an excellent report at the doctor.

Lashon, congrats on losing those 2 lbs. girl!!

Sherri, being a hostess must be wearing your little fingers out. We miss ya!!

Lisa, do you get to move back in tomorrow? I pray so.

Liz, what's going on with you today?

Okay, if I missed anyone....blame it on TOM (he's an evil little sucker).

                          Hello DG,

I just got back from my consultation with the surgeon and
he did advise me, which I knew he would, to finish losing my weight first so I don't have to have the surgery again and I totally agree with him. So it's not my season yet but mine is coming. It was kind of discouraging because once again this BLASTED weight is a hindrance in my life but not for much longer. I just have to keep stepping in the right direction and I will reach my goal eventually.

                          Have a good day ladies.

Hi ladies, just checking in!!!! Im over at a friends house finishing up on some work, and watching her little girl since she is home from school sick today.

I went by my house and they are tearing the roof down, so hopefully it will go as plan and we be back in on thursday, im praying for it. But i did get some bad news, we are going to have to either try and buy that house or move in the next 2-3 mths, our landlord has filed bankruptcy. When it rains it pours. Im not sure we would be able to buy right now, we have some other things going on, and we have to handle that first. The only thing that upsets us, is he filed two days after the tree fell, now i know that is not why he filed, he has other rental property but he is losing his house as well, i just wish he would have told us, this is not something you decide over night, this is something im sure him and his wife talked about. I found out because the courts sent me the paperwork where he filed. Now our landlord is really nice and i know things happen out of our control, and the way realestate is going, i totally understand but we have been here almost 4yrs, and just a heads up would have been great. But like i told my hubby, i homeschool my oldest and next yr both of them will be doing the virtual school here in ga so here is our chance to move and start over and find us something that is a lease purchase and something we really love. Now i do love my house im in now, but they are building up around it like crazy, im a country girl lol and all those stores and congestion im not to fond of. But anyway we will make it through.

Well i just wanted to check in real quick, hopefully by the end of this week, i will be here bugging you all like crazy again !!!

Your prayers were answered! I am completely released. He said I can do anything that doesn't hurt me. He wanted me to get a personal trainer for the exercise???? Like that's gonna happen. He told me that I had been a very good patient to work with and that he had enjoyed it. He thanked me for sticking with him until he got it right! He told me that if I needed anything else done, make an appointment and "he would talk me a deal." Here--let me put his number on speed-dial...Like that's gonna happen.

I had to eat lunch at 11:00 a.m. to make the appointment on time and didn't take any food with me, thinking I would be home by 4, but I went to Michael's and stayed way too long, so I didn't get home until after 6 p.m. I was starving and when I get that hungry, nothing fills me up. I finally made myself stop and went and did 30 minutes on the stepper, as tired as I was. Tomorrow, it's full steam ahead with exercise. It will be pretty tomorrow, so I will be able to walk.
