  • First day of exercise

Hi there! Well I just got back from Bally Fitness, it was great! I love it! I weighed myself there and I have lost 10 pounds since Saturday the 15th. I'm really excited, I know most of it is probably water weight but still. Anyways I just wanted to share that, I hope everyone had a great day. Happy losing!

    • Help--Newbie with a dinner date

      Hi everyone:

Thought I would introduce myself. I can't believe I got the userId Restart. Figured it would be taken already. I guess this is the next step to restarting my own life. Got out of a bad, abusive marrage 2 and a half years ago, or rather escaped and fled cross country (legally I have custody of the children--he has no visitation,) met a new guy, planning on getting married shortly, but since last summer when I tore an archillies tendon have gained back 25 pounds of the 44 I lost after I divorced. I got discouraged when I could barely walk and ate instead. I would love to loose about 75 more eventually.

I started induction yesterday and tomorrow I have a dinner date with my fiance and my aunt and uncle who are meeting him for the first time. What are my safe choices for dinner? All I can think of is a salad, which I can't measure, and a steak. Any others? Tomorrow isn't the time for making food an issue, so I would just as soon not discuss my diet if I can help it.

      Thanks in advance.

Plan ahead. i would eat before I go. Sounds silly, but if you are starving you might be tempted to cheat. I would eat my atkins food then just order something small like a side salad. Be careful of salad dressing though. A lot of them have a lot of sugar. Then they won't think you're rude for not eating and you won't be tempted to cheat. Order lots of water too. I have to plan ahead on things like this or I give up. One screw up and I am the type who throws it all way.

        • hi all!

hi all, I'm Camera, I just found this forum today. I am so happy to see there are so many people doing the same thing I am embarking on!

I began my induction on Sunday Jan 16th 05. When I began I was 246lbs, (@ 5'6", ack!) but as of yesterday morning I was 242. So I'm very happy for the quick start!

I'm kind of new (2 yrs or so) at being overweight, as previously I was always fine with my figure. Suddenly, I went out of control, overeating on every potato and candy bar I could find - I realized I needed not only to lose weight, but I needed to change my entire lifestyle.
I have never dieted before in my life, and I knew that I would never find one that I'd be able to stick with. I read Dr. Atkins book and realized it's not about dieting, it's about living. And it's day 6 of my induction and I feel wonderful.

I've had a few side-effects.... caffeine and sugar withdrawl... sweet-tooth beckoning... but I think I'm pretty much over that now. This evening I've got a headache and a fever but that might just be because it's winter and I work in an open office lol.

I truley believe this is going to work!
          nice to meet you all

          • Hello, Newbie here. I started Induction on the 18th and so far so good, I think. I did have a minor screw up when I ate some cashews. I have since tucked them away for after induction.

I am looking to lose about 30 pounds before summer. I know the weight did not come on over night so it wont leave over night as well. I have been on Weight Watchers for almost over 1 year and I have never been able to make it to my personal goal weight of 135. I am hoping to see some positive results with Atkins.

Any help that you all can provide me along my journey is much appreciated. :yes

            • One question about water. I drink a lot of it every day. However, I mix crystal Light with it. Is Crystal Light OK during induction? I need to know if I should stop uding it, not sure if I can stop.

              • Tinkerbelle, you should get in at least 64oz of water plus an extra 8oz for every 25lbs you have to lose. When you get all of that in for the day, only then can you have some Crystal Light. However, since the Crystal Light contains aspartame, it may slow or stall your weight loss. Stick with the canned Crystal Light, which contains Splenda, and you shouldn't have a problem. Just remember, 1 serving = 1 gram of sweetener, which you are allowed 3 increments a day.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                    • Searching for a coach/mentor!

                      Hi-
First, a little about me. I'm a 24 year old law school student who is getting married in March. I'm 5'0 166 lbs. I also have PCOS. This is my second time trying atkins and I am determined to do it right this time. I work out for an hour 3-5 times per week.

I am really trying to find someone who has been on Atkins for a while and has had success with it. I would be even happier if I could find someone who shares something in common with me.

                      Thanks! :help

                      • Hello.

New to the forum and to Atkins, due to start tomorrow morning(Monday 24th).
                        My daugter is joining me.
Tragically I need to lose about 90lbs, she needs to lose about 20lbs.

A little history- I was always about 130lbs, until I had my 2nd child.
Somewhat disturbingly, my wieght piled on and my hair fell out, isn't motherhood great?
That was 20 years ago, I have continued to gain weight, most hair has decided to return...it knows when it's well off.
Had a thyroid wobble for many years,I stopped going to the doctor as all they said was' of course you don't feel good, it's because you are fat'
I sighed a lot and told myself doctors were the devil's sperm.
I have not changed in this opinion.

Back to Atkins, been preparing for a week, read the book, bought the t shirt, raring to go.

Daughter is a little more cynical, but that's kids for ya.

So hello all, I hope I can do this, if I suddenly disappear, it will be , probably, because I have decided the sperm of the devil was probably right..

                              • I have been doing this for 5 days and already I lost 6 pounds. I wanted to switch my WI to mondays that is why I weighed myself today. I will WI again on Wed. just to see what a whole week is like. I am hoping for another loss! I also checked for ketosis with the sticks and they only show me being at moderate. STill, losing 6 pounds while being moderatly in ketosis is great. I do know that there are a few things I can still tweak to get me to a higher level, such as Crystal Light. I drink way too much, but so far it is my only Atkins sin.

This is my secon shot at Atkins and I am doing so much better the second time around.
