Hi Tessa :wave welcome to our ADBB family!
It looks as if you are highly resistant to weightloss (according to the chart in DANDR) so are one of those people Dr Atkins suggested would be better extending your induction period to allow your body to cope with the changes.

Congratulations on those first 7 pounds lost

And congratulations also on your positive attitude and determination to continue on the Atkins WOE
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Hey everyone, I am doing the extended until I get closer to my goal weight. I carry my weight well no matter what size I seem to get, but I am no longer comfortable in my frame. I want energy to keep up with my babies. I am doing pretty well so far, and this coming Wed. Will be 3 weeks for me. *hooray* I am learning a whole knew way to cook which is cool since I love cooking homecook meals. Today I made cookies for the girls and didnt even have one urge to cheat. To me that is success alone, cause I was a sweet junkie..oh and baked breads where my down fall before.
I love reading on here and hearing great tips to make this life style work. Im definately going to look up some of these challenges on here. I'm very into the idea of pushing myself beyond the norm.
        Take care!

          Hello everyone,

The first thing I want to say is, this Atkins Forum is awesome, it has giving me the courage, strength and support I need to do this. At first when I started Atkins I was only doing it for a cruise I am going on in December. I just wanted a quick fix, but once I got started I knew this was the best thing I have done for me in a long time. I no longer crave the sweets and I am on my last days of my 2wk induction, I have even started working out. I started on 10/01/07 and my starting weight was 231.8 and I have lost 9.2lbs so far, my goal weight is 150lbs. I now have questions for all of the pros on Atkins.

          1. How long can I do the induction phase?
          2. How long does it take to get in full ketosis, and when you do, does it me
mean that I will lose weight faster?
          3. Will I sometimes see more inches lost then pounds?

          Thanks,

          Nabyhill

          Thanks so much

Hi there, Im new here and would LOVE a mentor/sponser to help me along. When I say new here, I mean new to the board and to Atkins, (fair warning)
I am planning to start the induction phase with my husband on the 28th of December, we picked that date because I already have so much slim fast I need to use before and my husband wants to wait til after his family reunion at christmas time. I can be reached by email at suga_britchess@yahoo.com or by instant messenger with the same ID. Im anticipating alot of question concerning food do's and dont's as well as meal ideas and recipes.

May I just say I am sooo glad to be here and to have found this forum.
            Thanks Again

I think I'm bigtime in the minority here in saying DANDR does not work for me. I lost 60 lbs on the original diet (then got lazy and gained 50 back!) and I'm going back on Induction on 8/25. My maintenance carbs are about 20-25 and I have discovered when trying to do DANDR that net carbs don't work for me - I HAVE to count them all.

Is anyone else here in the same boat? Just curious.

                          Morrigan,

I feel like you do. I don't know what is right? I have made alot of positive changes but to weight loss is going extremely slow. Maybe I will be on inductions for ever. But I have to remember everyone is different. I want to achieve my goals. I like to hear other people's story. But if can never apply to me. My body's system is unique. What work for some other person, won't work for me. The thing that is the same is we all want to loose weight and feel better. I have used some protein bars with a "net carb" label and I am not sure if it works against me. I only use these when I crave "candy" otherwise I am consuming fresh meat and veggie greens. I am with you on not trusting the net carb thing. A carb, is a carb, is a carb. If we expect to do Atkins for Life then we must ultimately explore the net carb thing and overcome it.

                          Vic

Hi, I started Atkins 3 weeks ago and am now in extended induction. I've noticed that I'm getting really cranky and irritable around 7:30 Pm in the evenings and feel tired and end up just going to bed because I can't stand myself like that. I did just start exercising. Has anyone else experienced this?
                              Thanks,
