Battling a dizzy headache today ... just got back from spending over 100bux at Kroger to have some Atkin's friendly food in the house. Finding a splenda decaf drink was the hardest(as I LOVE pop)!

Hi, I'm new here too. Been doing Atkins induction for almost 4 weeks now. I've cheated a couple times, felt the sugar rush, and felt horrible! So, I haven't lost sight of the overall goal yet. Plus, I've lost 18 lbs so far, so I'm VERY happy about that! I'm finding I don't really look forward to eating anymore -- it's a chore, really. I'm having a hard time finding things that sound good, so even when I'm hungry, I don't really want to eat -- nothing sounds good. That's the hardest thing right now, I think. Plus, I plan to avoid all artificial sweeteners, even Splenda, since I just don't believe artificial is good for me.

i've been doing induction since june, but i have cheated several times, so i am kind of starting over. i dont know exactly how many lbs i've lost so far, but i can tell i have lost a couple of inches already. i plan on staying on induction until my birthday (aug 1 and then will move on to the next phase. i'm 26, 5'5", approx. 142 and my goal weight is currently 120. i plan to reevaluate it once i get close, depending on how i feel about my size/shape. i plan on getting a gym membership once i can afford it so my muscle mass may change my goal weight. i am looking for a mentor, or someone(s) to can help me be accountable. i don't have a whole lot of support from friends/family and i think it would really help me avoid the cheating if i had some outside support.
i will respond to PMs or emails at pcomstock at cox dot net.

Hi there. I too am a newbie, although I've been lurking around the boards for a while. I am on day 13 of induction and have lost 12.5 lbs. I am 33 y.o. F, 5'9" and weighing 301. My goal weight is 150 ... so I have a ways to go.

I intend to continue with Extended Induction until much more of the weight is gone. I currently work full-time and am studying for the CA Bar at night. On top of it all ... I figured it was time to lose this weight.

I would love any input/tips from people who had my current start weight or near it and have been successful thus far. I can be reached at rydslo@hotmail.com.

Thanks for all the support on the board ... it's been great!!!

              Attention!!

To those who have applied or would like to apply for a Mentor:

I would like those of you who have applied for a Mentor within the last 3 months to know that I am not ignoring your request. For those of you considering the request for a Mentor, I would like to inform you that I am unable to process any requests at the moment and ask that you use the forums or to request a buddy in the Penpals/Buddies forum.

Due to an illness in the family (cancer), I have had very little time to go online, as well as persue any other recreational activity.

I am currently working on a way to get all of your requests processed during times of my absence.

Thank you for your understanding and I wish you all the best!

              • Brand-newbie! Induction to start in 2 days!

Hello. I had great success with Atkins 7 years ago, and I have resolved to really try this again. OF course, I regained all I had lost, but I confess it's taken a whole lot of junky food consumed sitting on my big ole' but to gain it. Sedentary? Yup. Junk-food junky? Yup, again. I will start induction in a few days. Why not today? Hmmm.....I made this decision today. I believe I need to do some mental sit-ups before I start. Throw me your ten cents worth though, if you have a better thought than that. I don't know how to post here--just came across this today. I have thyroid disease--Hashimoto's--known for its high and low output, but mine is usually low. I have multiple sclerosis, and have recently battled a major depression that is lifting. I weight 187 on my medium frame that is still 5'8" tall, even after 3 big back surgeries over 18 months, but even my back is "all better now." So....I'm a 38 y/o female who is certifiably fat, and this is a greater stressor on my nuts-n-bolts back, my sluggish thyroid, and my MS. I believe I felt fabulous most of the time on Atkins, and once I make it off of the junk food, I can feel that way again. I need a "play by play action plan," though. I no longer have the book I don't believe, but I will get one.

Anyone else about to start? Wanna join up efforts? Please feel free to send me personal emails in addition to this website. I do well to check my email, but a website such as this probably doesn't look much like office work at work! (hi boss, er.....no, this is personal.....). Email me at akdavis@mchsi.com. I can check that without being lashed.

Peace to you all! I'm ready to rumble!

                Amy

                  Hi all,

I started a couple weeks ago. The day before my 38th birthday I decided that I would stop drinking and eat well for 38 days. It was a BD gift to myself. After a couple days, altough I hadn't been drinking, I was eating a pizza. I decided to look at the different weight loss programs and decided on Atkins. I bought the book, read it one Saturday and began the next week. I have now lost 15 pounds. I am walking to and from work, 4 miles round trip, and eating induction to a "t" I am really excited about the results thus far and have thrown out the 38 day 'diet' plan. I now plan on staying on extended induction until I am close to my goal and thenmove to OWL.

Ten years ago I was a very serious outdoors person. I even worked in the woods with kids, doing conservation work. That life style allowed me to eat what ever and however much I wanted. Then I moved into a administrative/ marketing job. I didn't change my eating habbits. I wasn't gettinginto the woods very often and started driving everywhere.

So, now my goal is to get back to my weight of ten years ago and become more active. After two weeks it is amazing how important walking to work has become. This past week, I had some errands to run for work which required my car. After I was done, I dropped stuff off at the office and told my co-workers that I needed to drop my car off at home and walk in. It was kinda funny. I was already there, but I drove home and then walked back.

Hiya everyone!!! we are NEW... I have been lurking on the boards for weeks now and thought I'd introduce myself and hub. I loved coming to read all the good advice and members' delight when they find themselves smaller.

We started Induction on the 27th Of June 2005 and even though we did not weigh ourselves..we measured our upper arms, waist and upper legs. I'm afraid we threw out our scales ages ago...and frankly I dont see the need for them.

By the second day and then for the next 4 days I was flat out down with a headache from ****. Who would have known sugar blues can be that intense. I nearly gave in on day 3 to a cup of coffee (my addiction) BUT I did not. Hubby did not suffer headaches but he got very dizzy. How very glad I am now that I resisted.

I have lost 5 inches all round and hubby did even better at 7 inches all round.

Hi Coffeedoll ha ha good name... wow that seems ambitious..All good luck for the journey ahead. As I said in the previous post.. I did not weigh myself and on Monday I will take my measurements again. I also do 45 minutes of Callanetics every second day. I started the Callanetics a year ago to strengthen my back and have not looked back.

I am not giving myself any goals as I do not want to be disappointed but this is definitely a lifetime change for both of us. So I will just keep posting. As I get to know the board and all the icons I will add them to my continual progression. Also must remember to get the measurements at hand when I am at the computer!

                          Hi everyone,

This is my second time on Atkins. The first time I lost 16 lbs in 3 weeks. I quit because I found out I was pregnant. I couldn't stomach meat. I got pregnant at 275.5 pounds. I gave birth at 290.5 pounds. I started Atkins 3 days after I had my C-section. I had my first weigh in 2 weeks after my son was born. I weighed 255. I am now 248.5 pounds.

I did all this without exercising. Do you think I will lose weight faster if I exercise? When I say I don;t exercise I really mean it. I live in Saudi Arabia and it's way too hot to walk around. I have a treadmill but I am so lazy.

I am still on the induction phase. I find that I am too scared to increase my carbs. I range between 15 and 23 carbs per day.

I am losing tons of inches. My clothes are getting really loose, especially around my shoulders waist and butt. My biggest problem is my stomach. I have an "apron" of fat that just hangs. Does anyone know of any good exercises that can help me with my stomach?
