Great to see another Brit here on ha
Well done on the 7 pounds gone for ever. :clapping :clapping
It seems weird to be happy to be classed as 'overweight' doesnt it :yikes but I know just what you mean as I am now no longer 'severe overweight' myself.

Make yourself at home and I am sure you will be a big loser in no time.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Someone I can pepper with questions, Seriosuly though I would like to have someone to mentor me to get going. Or someone for support. :help

It seems im swiming in a sea of low fat dieters they get annoying... say crap like you'll never do it that way, or your on your way to your deathbed with that diet, and the classic I love so much: Your on the atkins diet, the one where the creator was on it and died!!! God forgive them for their ignorance... :guns

          • How many carbs a day are you supposed to eat after the 2 week induction period? I still been doing 20 and I have come to a stall. I have been doing this since Feb. 9 and have lost 12 pounds. Can someone answer this?

            Comment

            • If you are going to do an extended induction, you can remain at the 20 gms of carbs/day. If you are moving on to OWL, you can follow the rungs as directed. Are you exercising? Getting in all your water? Its very common to hit a stall, but sometimes it just takes some tweaking. If you want to continue on induction, you might cut back on your cheese or sweeteners and see if they are causing your stall, if not, maybe a little extra water, exercise or going on up the OWL rungs might help. Just stick with it and don't get discouraged. Sometimes things like this happen to us all! Also, are you measuring? Sometimes that blasted scale doesn't move, but the inches are melting off anyway.

              • oops i posted in the wrong place so here i go again.

My name is bran and I am new. I have been doing low carb for 13 days now and keeping a journal in MS Word listing all the foods I have per day. I am a very heavy guy (pushing 575), but these last 13 days have been so wonderful for me. I think it would just be even easier for me if I had some people who knew what I was going through, so I came here. I am getting the DANDR very soon (on payday). I have cut out all the caffeine and am having anywhere from 9 to 15 carbs per day. I also started some walking (I still can't do much due to my weight but I am thinking that doing what I can everyday is better than doing nothing). I am also doing some light weights.

I hope that I can meet some of you. I sat and read your posts for a long time and you are really an inspiring group of people.

I dont know if you have had time to visit all the forums on this board yet but one to visit is the Century Club which was set up to give all of us with more than 100 pounds to lose somewhere to hang out together. Though those with less to lose are welcome too !
Pop in there some day and say hello to those who are in this for the long haul and may not visit the induction forums that often.

                  • Need a mentor...

                    Hello All,
My name is Debbie and I am looking for a mentor. I am in terrible need of someone to give me some support with this. I should be on day 5, but I am on day 1 again because of popcorn. My fiance laughed at me when I told him I was back on the wagon again this morning. He says he knows I can't do this. Can someone please help?

                    • You can

You can and you will do this. Tunnel vision helps with dealing with the folks who seem to be naysayers in your life. If you keep doing the same thing you will get the same results. Decide for you this is what you want and what you will do and do it. I've been on induction for 3 weeks, i restarted to, because I didn't read the book, i have now, but online menu's included frankenfoods, i had a row with sf candy and the adkins bars. Every meal is another chance to keep yourself in the fatburning mode. Sometimes day by day isnt enough, you got to break it down minute by minute. My two week induction is over and my cravings for anything other than legal food is gone. Yours will be too if you just stick in thru the hardest but most rewarding two weeks. Namaste, lisaj

                        • Once Again, A Newbie

                          Hello Everyone

I was a part of your great community about a year ago, and then left. I gave up, gained my weight back, tried other methods, joined gyms, left gyms, and now I'm back...

I hope it's okay to come back after all this time. Since I've left I've graduated from Albany and now I work for Huntington Learning Centers. I love life, and now that it and my job are lined up it's time to take time control....

I have some questions that I wasn't sure where to find the answers to on the various navigations, so I figured I'm a "newbie" so I'll ask them here:

                          1) Can I eat Eclipse mints? They're sugar free.
                          2) Can I eat turkey bacon?
2A) Bacon of ANY kind has a TON of sodium, what's the story with that?
                          3) Is is true that someone heavier will drop weight quicker during Atkins? For example, and this is JUST an example- someone who's 300lbs will lose more than I will at 170? Will they reach their goal quicker? Will they plataeu quicker??

                          THANKS, ALL!

                              • Hi,

I'm looking for a mentor who had a similar start weight as me and is also around my age.

                                I'm F, 36 years old, currently 289, size 26. I'm in week 3 of Induction. I've lost 8.5 lbs so far.

I love Induction because I have NO appetite, but this kind of scares me too. I want to do extended Induction because I have so much to lose. I'm also terrified I'll lose slowly. Exercise just doesn't fit into my schedule right now and I'm on 3 medications listed in Dr. Atkins "2 Week Essentials" book that can prohibit weight loss. HELP!!

                                Many thanks!!

P.S. I'm drinking plenty of water, getting my veggies (could do more) and I'm not taking any supps.
