Hi Everyone! I just started Atkins for a second time this past Monday, August 22nd. Between mid-January 2004 and May 2004, I lost 40 lbs and was about 10 lbs from my goal weight when, due to a heavy travel schedule at work, I feel off the wagon. I gained all the weight back and then some, and now need to lose about 70 lbs.

I am a carb addict, and ice cream and baked goods are my downfall. Already, my sugar craving is GONE. It's a wonderful feeling!

So far, I have a clean induction, with the exception of a handful of almonds on Tuesday. I lost 8 lbs this week, my 'sugar/wheat' bloat is gone, and I have way more energy.

I'm glad I found ADBB for my second go-around. There is so much excellent information and truly inspirational stories on this website. I look forward to getting to know you!

Well I am new to Atkins but have been on Induction, since 7/18. Must admit, I am getting a bit bored, and need some motivation. It seems if I just deviate off of "strict" Induction a bit I stall, so have decided to stay on it another a month until I can get some of this weight off. Any help, advice, encouragement, anything, would really help me. You can email, Im or view my diet at fitday. I just started to do a food diary on there. Look forward to your help, in hopes I can give it back one day.

Hi to all of you. I have been trying to do this on my own for several weeks and have lost about 14 pounds. I still have another 10-12 to go, and I am finding some great suggestions as I read through the forum. My biggest "oops" is that I simply adore chocolate and Diet Dr. Pepper (they cancel each other out, don't they? lol), but I have not had the cravings for chocolate since I have started Atkins. However......the DDPs, I'm not sure I can give them up. Thanks for the advice about checking the calories in allowed items - I would love to believe I can eat all the cream cheese I want and it won't add up....hmmm...I am going to try to stay on "Extended Induction" for another 3 weeks to see if I can drop a few more pounds before Thanksgiving.

                  Hi teachergirl

Just be careful not to stay on induction too long. If you feel you are not enjoying the allowed food and feeling deprived by the limited choice of ingredients then move on to OWL asap.

OWL (ongoing weight loss) is the time when we can experiment with this WOE and find out two things about our bodies.
                  1. How many carbs we can eat and still lose weight (our CCLL)
                  2. Whether any foods upset our bodies by making us crave off-plan foods or binge on them.
Some people have reported that even food like celery caused them cravings which they would not have been able to recognise unless they had used the OWL stage to test their limits!!

Also don't forget Dr Atkins told us we should lose our last 5-10 pounds in the premaintenance stage of Atkins so you really havent too much time to complete the great OWL scientific experiment before you get to that stage.

Staying on the Induction too long?

Exactly how long is too long? I was under the impression you could stay on it as long as you like up to a year.

                          Hi All,
I'm back for the second time and would LOVE a mentor to help me along the way. I was even considering weight watchers for that very reason, but after checking out the diet realized it wasn't for me. I felt great on atkins the first time around...just can;t seem to get started again...
