Fallinrain -- It sounds like you feel guilty for putting yourself first. PLEASE DON'T LOOK AT IT THIS WAY! Sorry to shout at you, but if you don't take care of yourself, who is going to take care of you and your family? You won't be any good to anybody if you don't take care of YOU.

Chicken is an inexpensive meat that I eat all the time. Also, do you like eggs? You can do so much with eggs, and they aren't that expensive.

      We are here for you.

Hi there...My name is Karen and i just started Atkins yeasterday on the 12th of Jan. I was on it before about a year ago and lost 22lbs....it took me 4 months to do that....I sat at that weight loss for another month and got frustrated and quit....I'm here again because i like this way of eating...dieting....and i'm tired of failing and quiting....I'm going to se this thru this time....I would love for someone to mentor me....be there for me when i no longer see the light at the end of the tunnel and want to throw in the towel....if one of you can do this it would be great!!!...send me a privite message....i have msn messenger and aol..and we could keep in contact that way as well as here if you want....I'm bound and determined to lose this weight....but it helps to have someone kicking my butt in the right direction at times too... :yikes....I hope to meet and talk with all you more....and thanks in advance.. :wave

Hi madeincanada and welcome to ha

Now that you know this WOL works, it is up to you to make it work for you to your advantage. I would be more than happy to coach you and motivate you where I can. I must warn you, however, I am a strictly-by-the-book person. After having a few cheats, myself, this is the only way that I can do this WOE to work for me.

Make sure to read your Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition. This is the most recent revised version. Whatever you do, do not follow the Atkins Nutrional Diet version, since it is basically a whole aray of pushing products. Atkinize your home and make sure to check out the recipes section for ideas, in case you need any.

Anytime you need me, PM me and I will answer you as quick as possible.

          TC and happy low-carbing!

                iron

today was my 14th day of induction. My 1st few days I had a lot of energy. Now all of a sudden I have none. I know everything says not to take iron, but I dont eat red meat. Should I be taking iron? I thought maybe this is why I am getting tired.

Are you taking a multi-vitamin? Are you making sure to eat enough protein and fat? Make sure you aren't dipping your cals too low. Up your water and add a few additional veggies to your menu for a few days to see if you feel better. You might be low on electrolytes, so upping your veggies should help. You might want to consider adding some potassium rich foods and a calcium/magnesium supplement as well. I would get very tired when my electrolyte level dipped too low.

If you are still suspecting a dip in iron levels, add a lot of fresh spinach to your salads.

                      Hi tigers!

I don't especially 'need' a mentor, but I wanted to make myself a little bit accountable so I thought I'd post in this thread.

                      • Hi all,

I started my induction today, I'm a total carb and sugar addict. Have done Atkins before a couple of years ago and bought the "New" book yesterday and am going to have another crack at it as I'm the heaviest I've ever been. :sadblinky

Stumbled across this forum yesterday and your stories and pics gave me hope that it can be done. So here I am and would love a mentor.

It's great to have you on board! Now that you have your new DANDR edition, you are all set to begin your "journey along the weight-loss highway". :yes

You know that Atkins works for you, now you have to work for Atkins by conjuring your strong will and determination skills. I am confident that you can do this. If the rest of us carb-addicts could do it, you can too. Find ways to be prepared for certain situations and Atkinize your whole life ahead of time. Then it will be hard to give in to temptations and you will find it only gets easier.

                          Happy low-carbing!

I wasn't around the boards much yesterday, but I am here to report my progress.

The scale didn't budge, this time around. I am unsure as to if it is a stall, fluctuations or some other factor. I will be monitoring my weight, as well as measuring myself, for the next few days to see what happens. Also, I have reason to believe that I have another candida infection. :sadblinky So, I will be doing another candida cleanse starting Monday. So, back to whole foods I go!!! :joy

Here is a link to a site that lists potassium-rich foods: http://www.essense-of-life.com/info/potassiumfoods.htm You will have to sort through the high carb selections to find induction-friendly choices, but they are there.

P.S. Just in case you didn't know, when you want to quote someone's whole post, click the "quote" button on that post, it will automatically quote that person in your post. If you don't want to quote the whole post, then you can highlight the part you want to quote with your mouse, and copy then paste the quote into your post. To make the quote, a "quote" in your post, you need to first click the "Quote" tag, paste the quote, then click the quote tag again. Just thought you might want to know. I was confused by all this stuff once too.

                              • potassium

I believe it is the potassium. I had charlie horses all night long. Thanks to being in track in highschool, I know how to stretch my legs to stop it. Too bad it comes on when I am sleeping and wakes me up. I checked out the link. I can't eat lettuce. I will try fresh spinach leaves and see if I can handle them. I will try a few brazil nuts too. Those had a lot of potassium. Too bad bananas are so high in carbs. I think I need to add more vitamin c. I am getting a lot of bruises, since I am a clutz and run into everything. I notice about an hour after I take my vitamin My pee is super green/yellow. Is this just the coloring in the vitamin or are the nutrients leaving my body that fast? if it is the nutrients, maybe I should take more vitamins through out the day? Thanks for all your help so far. You look great!
