Oh it is great to have someone to talk to that is the same height and weight that I am. Hopefully we will help motivate each other. My goal is 125 for now, but I see a lot of people lose even more than they first planned so maybe I can go even farther.

If it is the correct term I think it should be "MENTOREE" sounds fantastic!

            Hello I am a newbie....
I am day three into induction and have stayed totally clean so far. One of my main concerns is that when I lose the weight i will have excess skin. I only want to lose about 30 to 35 lbs but it still bothers me. What do you suggest? Also should I be taking any vitamin supplements on induction and if so which ones.

              Welcome Newbies!

Trishbrown, have you read the book? There is a section in there dedicated to Vitanutrient Supplements, if you would like to reread that section again. You should take a multivitamin without iron (One-A-Day makes one called "Carb Smart" and Atkins Basic Formula 3). Also, Omega 3 (in flax oil or fish oil form) are great to take.

You can also look on the main index, scroll down to the Vitanutrient Supp section and read up on it. That section has more information and more suggestions as to what supplements you should and can add to your daily intake.

                I'm starving!!!!!!!!!

I feel as if I just can't get enough to eat. I printed out the acceptable food list and am sticking by it religiously but I am so hungry. Not hungry right not but through the day I feel I just can't get enough. The only things I like on the acceptable food list is the meats, cheese, lettuce, cauliflower. Just don't know how I am going to make it through. Seems like If I'm hungry and drink water it doesn't help, mostly just makes me sick. I'm just so depressed right now but I am not giving up. :sadblinky

Welcome to ha West VA girl!

There are so many low-carb recipes that you can try! Try checking out the recipes section (top of page, Recipes button). You can also try the atkins.com website. It seems monotonous, at first, but when you look around, you will find some great recipes that will help keep the boredom at stray.

When on induction, it is stressed to eat when you are hungry. Don't worry about counting calories. Just eat something fatty and drink your water while doing so. Remember, 64oz is the minimum on water intake. When you can manage that, then add 8oz for every 20-25lbs you have to lose.

Once you get the hang of eating the Atkins way, you will find that it is easier than you thought. The depression is also a side effect of the "induction flu", so just give it a few days and it should aleviate.

You're doing a great job, so keep it up and work your Atkins plan the best you can!

                    Chynna

Thank you for the kind words. I am being very strict about introduction just like I'm suppose to be but I need to start making up some new recipes with the stuff I can eat. It is so funny cause I don't like alot of foods. But I loooove sweets. I know I am going through withdrawls :anger When I stopped drinking pop over a month ago I thought I was going to have to be put in the hospital....lol but seriously it was so hard but I got through it and know I can get through this. I'm going to go get my bottle of water and pretend it's something else :confused :capital

                      getting the shakes

this is my 7th day and I have done great so far. Yesterday after being awake for a few hours, I started getting a little shaky. right now I am really shaky. Could this be withdrawl? I was a huge sugar, carb, junkfood addict. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to stop it? Thanks :help

If you're hungry, you should eat. Try more zero carb meat and some fat along with it. That really takes the curb off hunger for me... usually all day. I just had a juicy steak for lunch. It had a lot of fat on it, and I enjoyed eating every morsel, plus some veggies. Now I'm set till tonight when I eat with my family.

If you are hungry - eat!!! Though you can't eat 5000 cals every day on Atkins and still expect to lose weight.... it is not a count your calories like you count your carbs way of eating. As someone else pointed out meats and fats would be good.

Also, give a good possibility that your hunger is in your head. I know that sounds bad, but sometimes, when you think of yourself on a diet or concentrating on your food, your mindset may be trained to automatically say.. HEY you are on a diet it means you are hungry... FEEED ME!!! So sit down and have a long talk with yourself and explain to yourself that this is NOT a diet, it is a way of life. Once yourself realizes that... the diet panic will subside and your hunger will probably subside. Also while all this convincing is happening.. remember to eat 6 to 7 times a day. This way even if you think you are hungry you only have to wait 2 hours or so between feedings. And soon your body will recognize this and start adjusting to it. And letting go of your weight because it knows it will be fed.

Also, make sure you are taking your supplements you decided on especially the multivitamin. Lack of something could also be causing your brain to think it is hungry.

                          Hope this helps.

                            hunger

I will ditto the when you are hungry, eat. I too feel like I am hungry all the time, but I try to have something to nibble on near my hand most of the day. It is very hard changing old habits, not being able to eat that giant hershey bar with almonds that is in the freezer with my name on it, but there are things you can eat that will substitute for that chocolate. I have found that frozen cherries make a tasty treat, and believe you - me, they are a treat when you are trying not to eat compulsively. I also love cream cheese, which I put on my toast, but now I put it on my celery, which does a better job of filling you up. This is hard, no doubt about that, but take it from someone who has not dieted for 20 years, I am on my 4th day, I pea all the time, but!! I have lost 5 lbs. I haven't been under 190 for a year. (187# this morning) Also, a friend of mine did this plan, and HE said he lost weight every day. DRINK that water and no cal pop (PepsiOne is excellent and Spritezero!!) Hang in there!! Terrig

                              Thanks for the Support

I am just having a hard time right now. I know it will pass in due time but I am so addicted to carbs. I didn't relize I basically lived on sugar. The craving for sweets sometimes are unbearable and when it happens I wish I could go get some celery and cream cheese but I hate that stuff. I like the califlower but always want something to dip it in so I'm going to try to find something but I don't want to stray from the introduction menu at all. I am taking my vitamins and drinking my water. Eating 3 reasonable meals a day and snaking on pepperoni and cheese bites.
I will be doing alot of "********" but I am bound and determined to get through this. I am not a loser and I am not going to quit. I talk to myself and know that I can do this. My body and mind right now are just trying to get situated to work together :yikes

Not that I know anything about anything but I get shaky sometimes also and I think it is withdrawls. I know when I stopped the pop, I had headaches and was so moody for almost a week. But it was worth it. I lost 10 pounds just from not drinking the pop.
Just wanting to make sure you weren't a diabetic or anything cause my grandma is and she gets shaky when her sugar is to low and she has to drink orange juice or something of that matter.
