the part that really amazes me about the veggies is how many I can sneak into a shake without really changing the taste. I'm getting soooooo many greens in. more than i ever have, in my whole life. so, it has marked a new way of eating for me.

and yes, one thing that made a huge difference was buying a ridiculous monster blender. a blendtec. I am horrified that I spent that kind of money on a blender, but it's become my most used appliance. getting the veggies and hard stuff perfectly liquefied reduces the uckiness, makes it more likely that I'll drink it without whining.

if you ever think of buying one, I recommend bed-bath-beyond, since they'll give you a 20% off coupon and you can return it even years later, just with a receipt. I figured if I don't EARN it, then it goes back.

So when i first read this thread i started gagging. The thought of raw eggs sent me crazy. It mind me thing of the cartoons and movie of the characters/actors gulping down eggs as a whole.. ew. But as I am writing this I am trying it. It is delicious. I used one egg. and put it in my whipper( magic bullet) added 1 oz of cream, 1 packet of splenda, some cinnamon =) and some vanilla. Also at the end i added some ice cubes for a milkshake effect. OMG Thank you so much for sharing. This is the best thing ever. For those of you scared to try, just do it. It is sooo worth it =)

            hi Lannerjarv
I am currently NOT doing atkins, so the stuff I'm making wouldn't work for you. I just thought it might inspire some of you to make your own concoctions.
the basic idea is to have some strong, sweet flavors, cover up the veggie flavor, and sneak a lot of veggies in for "free".
the greens that I use are spinach, broccoli, kale, collards and mustard greens.
some "cover up" flavors you could play with are: ginger, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla, etc.
some stuff that is NOT induction friendly are berries and fruits, but maybe you could try with a little more sweetener, or some other combination?

I do know that I never, ever managed to eat as many green veggies as I'm supposed to. I would MEAN to, I'd TRY to.... but I just wouldn't.

I figured out that I'm really sensitive to bitter and that all the good salad veggies tasted too bitter for me! so, even lettuce ended up being more like torture than a chore for me. I love all the other colored veggies.... just not dark green... and those are good for you...
so, maybe throwing a bit of frozen spinach in the blender could do the trick? and add more a little at a time?

what I AM proud to report, is that I've eaten more green stuff in the past 2 weeks with shakes than in my 30 years before.... I'm happy that I found something good that I can do for myself, that's feeling really easy to integrate into my life.

It sounds gross to me too, but I do love pasteurized egg nog and I'm always up for something new. I may add a dash of nutmeg for an authentic feel. Not sure exactly how long it will take me to work up the courage though.

I LOVE my eggnog shakes I have them 2 or 3 times a week and there is NOTHING in taste or texture that reminds you of raw eggs. Try it once folks. The worst that will happen is that you waste an egg or two and a bit of cream

I use 2-3 eggs, 1 ounce of heavy cream, 1T vanilla extract, and a drop or 2 of liquid splenda. Sometimes I add a little bit of ice.

I have to post on this topic because I was scared silly to try "egg creamers". They are absolutely fantastic! I used 3 eggs, 3 T of mashed pumpkin, nutmeg and allspice, 1 oz cream, 1 pkt of Splenda and ice for my first trial. Since then, I've purchased some those flavorings that are really strong ~ can't remember the name ~ and DaVinci Sugar Free syrups. My BF even likes my chocolate raspberry concoction... he actually asked me to make some for him one night.

I know, I love this stuff! I made some one time for my family (eggnog flavor/near Christmas time) and now my 14 year old daughter won't drink the eggnog from the store anymore!! She says that the stuff from the store tastes like chemicals now and that mine is much better! Awesome!!!

I did a little more tweaking on my recipe for the original one today. This time I used:

                        2 eggs
                        1 tbsp cream
                        small splash of vanilla
                        1/2 packet of splenda
                        2 ice cubes

Perfection, was so good I almost went back for seconds. It was the best one yet. Tasted so sinfully bad but it is so good for you. Can't beat that combination.
