    It is good! Thank you!

Interesting thread, and yummy (I think?) idea. I'm going to combine the eggs and the cream in a pan and heat it to 160 degrees first, before plunking it in the blender with ice and cream.

I'm hoping that A) it will put my mind at ease about the salmonella thing and B) it will up the protein factor that's being discussed regarding the "raw" eggs.

Anyone else do it that way?

BTW, thanks for the info on the Capella flavor drops. I didn't know about those. I'm ordering some, which I think would be great in the "ricotta cheese" or "cream cheese" recipes.

I miss ice cream, so I'm going to buy some whipped cream cheese, flavor it with a few drops of Boston Cream pie (or Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Pralines and Cream or...), add a packet or two of Splenda and a splash or two of cream, and then beat it with a hand mixer until mix/whipped. Then I'm going to freeze it.

I don't know how it's going to turn out, but I've been pondering this one for a while, trying to come up with a frozen substitute for ice cream. The flavor drops were the missing link! Thanks!!!

Actually that would be a good thing to drink after a workout. Give it about 30 minutes after workout though so the body essentially digests its own fat stores then drink it to help nourish the muscles. Used to work with a nutritionist.

I made something similar to this last night and was in HEAVEN! It was 1/2 cup egg whites, 2 TBSP heavy cream, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup canned 100% PUMPKIN, 2 TSP pumpkin pie spice and 1tsp FiberFit Sweetner. Put all in blender with a huge handful of ice. BLEND until smooth. Tastes just like pumpkin pie filling. My calculations state about 5.5 net carbs- which is great because 4 of them were from the pumpkin (count as veggies). If i'm wrong- someone correct me because this is TO DIE FOR.

I believe your right about pumpking being counted as a veggie for us and you now have me craving one of these.just sounds really good and I am all about anything pumpkin. I use flax seed for fiber so I am wondering what it will do with the flavor of the pumpkin stuff. Flax seed has kind of a buttery nutty flavor and smell to it so it may set off the pumpkin. mmmmm. k now im hungry

Just curious, instead of eggs, why can't we just use a scoop of protein powder?

Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're probably right.

Would depend on what all is in the protein powder, what kind it is, if it has added sugar or anything else that isn't on the diet. As it stands right now using the eggs, it is ideal for people on induction and the lower rungs of owl.

As long as it is egg-based protein and you add some fat, i wouldn't see why not. Once you get to OWL rung two you could probably use whey or caseine. I'd say eggs are cheaper though and already have the fat and some nutrients. Plus the protein powder probably won't have that eggnog taste. At that point it is pretty much just a protein shake.

Oh Man, added a little unsweetened dark cocoa powder to my shake last night and YUMMMMMMMMMM.

I have two big jars of whey protein powder and I'm wondering how Atkins friendly they are. If they are I may add a dash, get a little extra protein out of it.

Either way, I love this! Will be ordering some of those drops next week and need to buy more eggs

I got REAL TIRED of eggs fairly early on and have been making these for weeks...YUMMY.

I'll do anything in them as long as there are 3 eggs. I will use (and not all at once)

                              sugarfree cocoa,
                              low carb protein powder,
                              any of the Davinci syrups,
                              Heavy Cream,
                              Low Carb soy milk,
                              Almond Milk,
                              small tsp of instant coffee,
                              cinnamon,
                              peppermint extract,
                              etc etc.

Haven't made one yet that I don't like.

I'm a bit tired of cleaning the blender every morning though.

So just to make it clear for those who may wonder
Whey powder (as it is a milk product) you can add on rung 2 of your atkins journey. Exception is if it is an isolate - then it is mostly pure protein and acceptable for induction.
Soy protein you can add on rung 6 (exception for isolates again)

Soy milk is a rung 6 addition
Almond milk is a rung 3 addition
cocoa is a rung 3 addition (but a small amount like a teaspoon is accectable on induction (cocoa is used as a spice this way)

So for an egg cream it is good to check the induction list for allowed foods before you go ahead
                                I use
                                eggs
                                cream (this is allowed)
                                decaf and decaf ice cubes
                                vanilla
                                splenda syrups
