Hey, Slapshot - I think I'll let you read it, then give me the "Cliff's Notes"... I glazed over when I saw the word "Isotope" in the title.

I feel you, but I'm kind of a bio geek, so I'm interested, LOL.

The bottom line is that they were able to measure the nitrogen in the small intestine from patients that consumed raw egg & cooked egg. The result was that there was way more nitrogen in the raw egg patients - i.e. less protein was digested (50%). They confirmed these results with a breathe test that on it's own only provides confirmation of their findings.

They attributed the higher digestibility in the cooked egg to the structural changes in the protein molecule induced by heating.

Ok, I am just strange. I tried this today and didn't like it. I don't know where I went wrong but finally made myself drink some of it because I was hungry and time was an issue. I kept adding more cream, splenda, vanilla...still couldn't get it to taste "right" and was going over my daily allowance of cream and splenda. Back to eggs for breakfast.

Understandable. I will say it really never tastes "right," which is why I drink it in one fell swoop and thank my stars at the end that I put the vanilla in. I couldn't imagine sipping this.

Wow! It just goes to show how individual each of our tastes are... I could drink one of these 3 times a day (don't worry; I don't). I've got several different variations that I very much enjoy. I LOVE it!!!

This is a perfect illustration of why I don't try to come up with menus for people when they ask me. I provide the list of acceptable foods and links to a couple of recipe sites and tell them to have at it.

I just finished a two egg one, made with the frozen coffee cubes, which works specatularly well. I used the two eggs, cream, chocolate flavored stevia, cinnamon, and one tray worth of coffee ice cubes. I have been resisting cheating all day, .. odd for me but I wanted the cheese crackers and stuff that was surrounding me at work. I resisted! but then I get to come home and have my lovely shake...

I want to try this. I'm SICK of eggs. I've tried most every variation on them and I think if I eat another I may gag to death. However, I'm not at home and don't have my book with me.

What is the daily allotment for heavy cream on induction? I hate to ask, but I've dug through the forums and can't find it on any of the induction lists posted.

                    Thanks so much!

In the book it states, under "beverages" cream-2-3 Tablespoons a day, note carb content.

Then under "special category foods" it states, 3 oz unsweetened heavy cream/day.

                      Hope that helps.

Just be careful... the heavy cream has LOTS of calories... use sparingly

i searched for this thread immediately after breakfast just to rave about how good the eggnog is, for me, at least! wow its such a welcome change from my usual omelet!!!

however ive read in earlier replies that raw eggs have lesser 'digestible protein' as compared to cooked ones?????? to our Atkins experts here in the board ... what do you suggest? should i continue taking this eggnog? i am on my 1st week of induction and i dont wanna mess this up.

Had it again today, less cream and less splenda ( 1tbs and 1tsp respectively) added more ice.. MUCH better. Very happy to say I'm a convert!!
