I bought myself a scale this weekend. Up until now I've only been able to weigh at work. One week ago when I got "Back to the Basics" I weighed 190 pounds. On my new scale at home I weighed in at 185 this morning. 5 pound loss! Yeah!

However, when I got to work this morning, that scale said 183, so it's really a 7 pound loss! I think I'm going to start using the scale at home from here on out though - it has metal things on it that if you stand on it with damp feet it also measures your BMI and level of hydration. So I guess a week ago I probably would have weighed 192 on it - so I'll just use 185 as my current weight & switch to that scale.

Hey "Back to Basics" buddies!!! I had zero time to come in here since Friday. But I did wonderful. I still ate induction food, drank an averago of 180 oz, and exercised. Not that much cuz I was really busy, but I did.

Well it looks like I'm done with my 2 weeks on induction. I managed to lose 7 pounds. It's not a whole lot but at least it helped me break my 6 month stall/yo-yoing. I remember the very first I did atkins a few years ago, I manged to lose 20 pounds on induction. But then again, back then I was 270 or so. Big difference ha.

So I been debating over extended induction or no. Hmmm... I'll probably just jump on the OWL wagon today. The extra cup of veggies won't make much of a difference anyway.

Hi, guys. I'd like to join you here --- LONG overdue for me.

Mitzi, your food yesterday looks really good. It reminds me I can enjoy the basics and not feel deprived.

Induction day one for me (AGAIN). I just ate some frozen green beans, and they came with almond slivers. I almost used them, reasoning that the carb difference would be so minimal. And perhaps that's true. But WHO I AM to decide?? Those do-it-yourself decisions have only been successful in keeping me in this carb/craving cycle for MONTHS... and in getting the scale back up to 212.

It's a new day.... but I'm so tired of starting over. PLEASE let this be the last time.....

Good Morning everyone ........... I am starting week two of induction today I lost 5 lbs last week and would LOVE it if I could repeat that again this week! I know thats asking for a lot but I'm on a mission for my daughter's wedding and would really like to get off as much as possible before I go dress shopping. Yesterday was a solid day for me and so far this morning I have yet to eat a thing ....... I know not good I am actually really hungry and going to fix something as soon as I get off here ........ I had dentist appointments for myself and the two little ones first thing this morning so I just didn's have time .....

Elsy 7 pounds is wonderful! ANd heck breaking a stall is even more of a bonus! Good for you!

Wendy switching scales is always a bit of a bummer when the new ones numbers are off from what you are used to but as long as you know it's going in the right direction thats awesome! I have one that does the BMI and hydration as well ......... not sure I use those numbers much anymore but in the beginning it was alot of fun to mess withthem and see what it said ......

MItzi I'm trying my jicama again today .......... I have one left so I am giving it a whirl ........

Sunny I am also making my avacado into guacomole( sp?) so one more new adventure for me ....... I think I will like this though!

Glenda thats awesome news about your knee! That shot is kicking in way faster then they thought! Thats wonderful you must have felt great going up and down those stairs with no pain!

Blue welcome to the thread and yeah for you for making the choice to get back to basics and kick start your plan again ........ It's great to have you!!!

Charks1 sounds like your right on track and doing great! I will have to look at walmart for the "splenda" you mentioned I have never seen it and basically just don't make anything that needs it because I didn't have easy access ........ heck maybe I"m better off with out it ........ I guess we'll see how it efects me and if I get out of control with it I will just go back to not having it at all.

OK thats it for me for now I have got to go make something to eat ....... I"ll be back later with my menu and all that Jazz .......

I'm sick of cooking food, and I'm sick of eating it... to the point, that I have been using Atkins Meal Replacement bars so I don't need to cook a meal. Which worked OK... until I started eating 3 of them a day! Also, for a month now, I have been drinking at least 4 cups of coffee a day, loaded with cream and liquid splenda. WTF? I have never been a coffee drinker in my life! While I have been eating a muffin in a minute daily for a few months now, in the past 2 days, I have almost been binging on ground flaxseed meal... in addition to the muffin, I have been making a couple of microwave cookies with the flax, too. I had a 1/2 cup of flax yesterday, and another 1/2 cup today. Luckily, I drank almost 100 ounces of water yesterday, so everything came out all right. However, my stupid @ss has only had 32 ounces of water today! Me thinks I may be plugged up tomorrow.

I have a gigantic Splenda monkey on my back... as big as King Kong. I have been flying through those bottles of liquid Splenda. It seems that the kinds of foods that I have been choosing are just vehicles for my Splenda (coffee, flax muffins/cookies, and MUP). And get this... Prior to my picking up the coffee habit, I NEVER used heavy cream. Now, it's not unusual for me to go through a pint (that's 32 tablespoons) of cream in 3 days. So, it's not even really carb creep that's doing me in... I'm still not going over 50 carbs most days. It's just extremely poor choices in how I spend my carbs, and LOTS of calories.
Mitzi, I know this is an old post, but I was reading back through and it really struck home with me. I, too, have been so tired of food lately. Specifically, Atkins-legal foods. And the foods I did choose were basically just a carrier vehicle for stuff I really wanted... splenda, butter, cream cheese, and cream.

I'm glad to be here -- I'm praying I can find my way back.

Great day for me! 1st day back to work after having the steroid injection in my knee~~~no pain, no swelling & I'm still going strong!! I can't even begin to tell you all how exciting this is for me!

TOM is lurking & my weight stayed the same @ 231 which is great as I usually show a slight gain. Had my yearly physical & doc is happy with the weight loss. My BP was 126/60. I'll have my blood work done sometime this week for glucose & cholesterol.

                B) 1 oz cheese & 1/2 red pepper sliced
                L) steak fajita with red & green peppers with avocado, sour cream & some cheese~~about 1 TBSP
                D) cabbage & cauliflower with butter & grilled steak
                S) 1/2 C pumpkin with 1 TBSP cream cheese & 1 Splenda
working on the last 32 oz of H20 to make a total of 96 oz

A sales rep came today & bought big a$$ chocolate chip cookies from one of my favorite local eatery. They smelled wonderful & that was all the interest I had in the cookie.

Again I'm having a great day!!

My absolutely fav breakfast is now: some sliced chicken or turkey breast, warmed in some butter in one side of a pan, while I fry one egg hard in butter on the other side of the pan. When that is done, I put the egg on a plate and smear guacamole over it, then put the warm chicken on top and put guacamole on top of that. Leave it for a couple of minutes so the guacamole is warmed by the food, then dig in. It keeps me full for so long, I have trouble eating lunch.

I'm back to induction foods today, and I'm glad. The day started out kinda rough because I had to be out of the house at 6:45 a.m. for an appointment at the lymphedema clinic at UVA. I knew the traffic would be murder at that time of day and the trip would take over an hour, so I just gulped down two fried in butter free range eggs.

I was hungry when I got home so I had an early lunch of chicken and a delicious salad from mesclun greens, baby spinach and spring onions picked fresh out of my garden, with a sesame orange dressing that I threw together. It was major good!

For dinner I had more chicken (cluck, cluck!) and steamed asparagus with a raspberry vinaigrette sauce (made with DaVinci sf raspberry syrup).

I plan on having something besides eggs and chicken tomorrow. I don't have to make the trip to UVA tomorrow, but do on Wednesday & Thursday. It wears me out for the day. I just remembered that on Wednesday that I will be over at UVA until dinner time, then an hour drive back to Staunton, just in time to go to church for choir practice. I will leave home at 2:00 p.m. and won't get home until about 9:30 p.m. I better pack dinner!

                      Sunny!

My first day back on induction is almost over. I am happy to report I had no coffee, tea, club soda, splenda, bacon or any of the other things that push me off track.

I feel so much better today and confident that the next two weeks will be great.

                            Good Evening, All

Whew! What a busy day I have had... I'm wiped out. *yawn*

I wish I could respond to each and every one of you... you make me so proud! Alas, time is short, so I'll just make a mini-ramble tonight.

ADENA! I'm glad you've joined us. Turning that carb train around is very difficult... it sucks! Hopefully there's strength in numbers here... I know that a few times, knowing that I had to be accountable here is what has kept me on the straight and narrow. Best wishes to you, friend.

Wendy, I want a new scale too! I hate this dial thing that I have. I want a digital number to read instead of trying to line up the little line with the indicator. But my mom gave me this one, and it's just over a year old... I can't justify spending the money yet for a new one.

Elsy, 7 pounds on Induction is great! That's what I lost on my re-start last year when I was at 187.

Heidi, you're doing so well! I hope you don't get discouraged if you don't lose 5 pounds again next week. With that 7 pounds I lost on Induction last year, I lost 5 the first week, and 2 on the second. You know the drill, though... it just doesn't come off in a regular fashion. That doesn't mean that you're body isn't getting smaller, though! Remember that!! Sometimes the scale just needs some time to catch up.

Glenda, the fact that TOM is lurking, yet the scale did not go up is as good as a loss to me!

Sunny, I can't wait to try your breakfast idea. Sounds great! And I really feel for you having to make that trip so often. You are such a good sport about it... I'd be really grumpy.

Sarah, congrats on the 3 pound loss! Yep, veggies are important. Have you checked out the Semi Annual Veggie Challenge coming up? The link is in my siggie... take a look.

Blue, congrats on getting through your first day! That's the hardest one, in my opinion.

OK - here's my stuff. I worked from 9:30 till 5:30 today in the boutique.
