By the way, Back to basics? Does that mean more excercise only? What about the food part? Cleaning up your eating means exactly what? No softdrinks, or splenda? Can you give me more details?

    Thanks,

gosh a whole mess of us have a journals, either in the Journal Chats forum or the Journal Stats forum. some of us have or have had, journals in both.

back to basics for me was getting my mindset right and prioritizing what the important things were. eating right and
exercising was just part of it. back to basics for you might be all the things you listed.

    Mitzi Girl, YOU ROCK!

I'm just checking in to let you know that I am still on track. Today is day 8 of being in my Atkins flow and No Weigh also No Sweetners. I feel so much better. I was in ketosis for most of the week last week. Food has been pretty basic, which I find easier to maintane consitancy. High fat, moderate protein and low carb keeps me in ketosis. I'm looking forward to Saturday to report some losses. Exercise has been speradic. Hips have been painful lately.
Back to Basics this week is to be more consistant with a walking routine.

Thanks for the quote...it does put things into perspective. I guess I'm not truly following Atkins. I'm just following a low carb plan of eating.

When I was following Atkins, things worked. Now they're not. That quote is getting printed out, copied, and put all over the place!

    Good Afternoon, Everyone

Just breezing through real quick to report on my exercise for the day. I've completed the "Fat to Firm Fitness Ball Workout for Dummies" DVD and the 20 minute Winsor Pilates DVD. I had a 10 mile bike ride yesterday, and ran in my neighborhood the day before that, so I'm on Day 3 of my exercise commitment. Woot!

Hi, Glenda I hope you find some balance soon!

    I'll see y'all later!

Also struggling with the exercise. Needing to balance out some things in my life & get the focus back on myself. I'm letting myself be pulled in too many directions. I'm exhuasted & thus not taking care of me.

Thanks for the quote from Dr. A ~~puts it all in perspective!

You are more than welcome, my friend!

There's strength in numbers... we CAN do this! And you've hit the nail on the head - you don't have to overdo it. Just do it. I fall into that trap often... I think that if I don't kill myself with exercise, it doesn't count... and then I burn out.

    No more! Just gotta move.

    Have a great week!

Thank you Mitzi for sharing this Quote from Dr. Atkins.
It really hit home with me.
I certainly havn't been doing the program lately.
I, like you, want to go into the Thanksgiving Holiday feeling healthy and looking great.
You just gave me more insentive to get with my program!

"If you're serious about following Atkins for life, I must reiterate that you have to invest some energy in exercise. Contrary to the messages our society generally sends us, your body was meant to move. Sitting around is unnatural. Working in an office is unnatural. A whole of of modern life is unnatural. Parking in the far corner of the parking lot is not a mistake. It's where you should be, because exercise is not optional. It's an integral part of doing Atkins. It's often neglected and sometimes quietly scorned, but if you think you're doing the program and you're not exercising, you're not doing the program."

    Good Evening, All

Q, it's great to see you checking in! I want to commit to 30 days of exercise, too... I really want to go into Thanksgiving feeling good, because that helps me to stay strong. I think we're smart to get a handle on that now.

Jimmie, congrats on finding a balance! So, so important... and not always easy to do. It sounds like you've got it figured out now.

With the spare time I've had lately (6 days with no electricity), I've been re-reading some of the Atkins' books for motivation. Here's a quote from DANDR:

"If you're serious about following Atkins for life, I must reiterate that you have to invest some energy in exercise. Contrary to the messages our society generally sends us, your body was meant to move. Sitting around is unnatural. Working in an office is unnatural. A whole lot of modern life is unnatural.
