Re: ~*~ Back To Basics ~*~
well, i just wanted to drop in to let you all know i am doing much better. i feel like i'm starting to get back into the swing of things again. for the last couple weeks i've been struggling a little bit. i found myself slacking a bit on exercise, although not completely, i wasnt up to par with what i'd been used to doing. i was doing ok foodwise, but not really keeping track on logging it into fitday account. i've been pretty good on my water intake. there were a couple days over the last couple weeks where i went to a couple concerts and indulged in a few alcoholic beverages. i'm not a big drinker, so the alcohol isn't something i partake in very often. i know i over did it though as they were fruity drinks, and probably had tons of sugar. i guess i must have needed that little release though, because afterwards, i felt like i was ready to get back to where i was concentrating more on getting things back on track.
as mentioned in my last post, the holidays are something i really struggle with. i love all the goodies that come along with the holidays, and not having them is always hard for me. i know that food isn't and shouldn't be what the holidays are all about, but if i could adapt my favorite recipes to a low carb version, i know i could stay on plan. so here's my question.....does anyone know of a website that i could go to for help in converting some holiday recipes i have to a low carb recipe? i have no problem following recipes, but trying to figure out how to convert them on my own is difficult for me. like i know i can substitue almond flour for regular flour, but not sure if i should use the same amount, if the amount needs to be adjusted higher or lower. the recipe i have for oatmeal cookies, i've been able to figure out ways to make them low carb, but there are some other ones i need help with. i also plan on trying some recipes on linda's site to see if i can find some new favorites too. any help you can give me would be great, as i'd like to get an early start on getting my recipes planned out so i'm prepared for when those tempting holidays come around.
hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Re: ~*~ Back To Basics ~*~
ok.....so i've been eyeing this thread for sometime, and i've found myself in need of getting back to the basics so to speak for a few weeks now.
i've seen many familiar faces posting here, so i thought i'd come in and say hello and join in.
a little background on myself.......i've been a long time atkineer....been a member of this board for about 4 yrs(that was when i first attempted Atkins) i was very successful losing about 55 or 60 lbs. thought i'd be able to keep the weight off, but ended up slipping and falling off the wagon hard.(think i still have some bruises from that fall..LOL) this is my 4th restart on this WOE and i'm very determined to succeed this time. each of my other attempts at this WOE i found i learned so much more than i really knew about the plan the first time i tried it. each time i fell off the wagon though, it seemed to be mainly during the time of the thanksgiving and christmas holidays. it would take another 3 to 6 months to get back on, but i would eventually and have some success, then here would come the holidays again. so now here i am, 4th time around more determined than ever to succeed. i re-started on june 2nd, and have lost 26 lbs so far with about 21 more to lose. i am on the legume rung of OWL, and plan on just hanging around on that rung for a while now....i don't really think that going any higher now would be prudent for me as i am not ready to add anything too starchy yet.
so that's my story, and i'm looking forward to getting to know you all better. will be posting at another time my plan of action.
sorry for the long post....be checking in again sometime soon.

Woo hoo! Glenda!!
Happy Anniversay! You've done a great job.
So sorry that I have been scarce lately. Life has ways of being more challenging at some times, than at others. It's one of those times. I'm getting through it, but it's been taking up a lot of my time.
I hope all of you have a great week!

Congratulations, Glenda! Every once in a while, we all have to take a look at our success from the beginning. it's a good way to remind us how far we've come and how we don't want to throw it all away. You're doing good, keep going!!

Wanted to share this from the Celebration Forum~~
Today I needed to submit my results for the 6 WEC. When I got out my paper with all my measurements I realized I started this WOL/WOE on 8/8/07. It has been an interesting year in many ways. There has been successes, stalls, cheats, temper tantrums & a bad winter depression. I've lost a total of 37# and a grand total of 57.25". I wish I had lost more weight but it is what it is. When I look at the inches lost & then look at a tape measure~~~holy mackeral~~ that is huge!!
It is what it is & we all have our own personal journey. Looking forward to the next year & all that it holds for me!
I'm very grateful for ADBB & all the knowledge & support. More importantly I'm grateful for the wonderful friends that I have made here! You are all fantastic!!

Re: ~*~ Back To Basics ~*~
Been in a bit of a funk.
If the rain doesn't stop I'm going to go over the edge.
Doing fine with the food & H20 intake. Enjoying my treat of Greek yogurt with berries. Got on the scale today due to the end of the 6 WEC & imagine my surprise that I lost 4 # during the challenge. Not much but I'm happy with it. Measurements tomorrow.

Re: ~*~ Back To Basics ~*~
Thank you Mitzi- you are 100% correct. I found the book and have begun. It makes me feel a bit down on myself- like, how did I let myself go THIS much? I'm using olive oil with my veggies- oh! is it ever easy to get that fat in! And even though I am off induction, I am going to work each rung as I am supposed to. I kinda wanted to give myself everything- at least nuts! But I think working the system vs. creating my own is much wiser!
Thanks for all the help Mitzi.

Hello Everyone,
Today is day 5 No Sweetners. So far so good. Last night I was fighting sweet cravings bad. I made it through though. The first week is the hardest for me, then it gets easier and I don't think much about them.

Elizabeth, in answer to your question:Originally posted by elizabethbuttercup View PostHello All, I am leaving induction and would like to add 5 carbs during the next week. where can I learn about the 'rungs' everyone talks about?
1) It is IMPERATIVE that you read the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. That is the book that this particular board is cenetered around.
2) At the top of each forum, there are topics that are called "stickies". They are "stuck" at the top of each forum, in hopes that people will find them there and read them. You would benefit from reading the stickies at the top of the OWL forum. Some of the stickies cover the sames topics, but I would read ALL of them, because you may find that something clicks for you better from one of the stickies, rather than another one. Here is the link where they are listed.
Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) - Atkins Diet
Also, read through the titles of the threads in the OWL forum that were started by other members... you may find that someone has already addressed a question that you may have after reading through the stickies. And you can always start a new thread with your particular question, if you don't find your answer. There is usually someone around who is willing to lend a hand.

Good Evening, All
Yay! I'm so glad that our little group has remained intact.
Cycles - yep, that have proved to be a fact of life. At least now, I know that when a bad one creeps up on me, it is NOT the kiss of death... it, too, shall pass.
I hate that they have to happen, though. For the longest time, I didn't have any bad cycles. Then, alas! I discovered that I am not perfect... who'd have thought? So now, it is a little easier to get through them, knowing that they are just a temporary blip.
Sherri, thanks for sharing the info. Good stuff!
Heidi, it is soooo great to have you back.
Qbu, I hope that your migranes have subsided.
Joy, I'm proud of you for hanging in there - boring food and all.
Pam, congrats on being able to change your ticker! Woot!
Glenda! You finally found some Fage yogurt!! Doesn't it just ROCK?! I can't have it too often, but I'll be on the same side of town as Whole Foods on Tuesday for a medical test that I have to have, so I will definitely make a stop there and pick some up. Divine!
Things are still going well for me. I got another run in, and I LOVED it! Food has been good. Weigh in this morning showed me at 125.
