I'm back from vacation - went to Disney & SeaWorld, etc. since mid-last-week, and to be VERY HONEST I did not follow plan whatsoever starting with lunch on the first day (which was at the buffet in the restaurant that has all the Winnie the Pooh characters roaming around). Since I started on this WOE I have noticed that every single time I go on vacation I lose control - and after every time I say "I need to come up with a plan for next time" but then I never do! So far I'm up 2.2 pounds, and I'm hoping that's ALL the impact, but I figure it will creep up a little more before it starts back down.

Okay - confession time is over!

Wendy welcome back from vacation! Sounds like a great time!

Mitzi you have so much to be proud of and so much knowledge and accomplishment to glean from. I'm sure you will figure out whats best for you as you try new things. As far as that 20 minute run goes I was so afraid of it when I got there that I stayed in the previous week for three weeks ..... finally I thought what the heck am I afraid of if can't make it I just keep trying till I do ......I didn't make it the first few times I treid I was close like 15 min I thnk then 17 and then finally 20. But it's not so bad and you ar emuch more fit then I ever dreamed of being ..... so just GO FOR IT!!!! I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes!

Blue every little bit counts Yeah on the scale movement.

I finally am seeing some scale movement as well still not back where I was but getting closer and seeing some payoff for the work outs I have been doing. I so want to start running again but am having toe issues again so I don't know whats going to come of that. I had an xray yesterday and an appontment with my surgeon on the 12th to find out what the verdict is. So for now I continue with my Elliptical and challenges.

Just 15 days till the wedding and I really want to lose ten more pounds ...... it's alot to ask for but I'm reaching!!!!

Hey Wendy! Yeah, welcome back. I was wondering where you were.

Hey girl, that amazing. You just gained 2.2 on vacation? NOT bad. I know I shouldn't think this way, but I have a feeling I won't be as successful as you during mine. I know, I shouldn't think that way. I should think strong and positive.

          Good Evening, Everyone

It sure is good to hear from all of you! Yay!

Thanks so much for the words of encouragment, Blue and Heidi. Why in the heck I'm feeling restless now, I don't know... I was the poster child for Atkins during my entire OWL and have been maintaining since November, and yet... restless. I'm confident that I'll be OK... I just need to do a little tweaking.

Today's tweak was a peach. It looked juicier than it tasted (I suck at picking out fruit), but it was a nice change. So far, it looks like fruit is not really an issue with me. I can have 1 piece, and not go crazy with anything.

The not so good news - I am taking a week off from nuts altogether (again ). It really annoys me that I have so little control with them... they are so good for you, and yet they spell trouble for me. I was doing fine with restricting myself to natural almonds in MUP only. But then, I brought a can of cashew/macadamia nut mix to work (what in the world possessed me?!) ... I ate the entire can in 1 shift. Then, I came home and finished off about 8 ounces of the natural almonds I had for my MUP. Needless to say, I am going nutless for a while. I will continue with the flax in my muffin in a minute, but no nuts.

OK, here's the report I filed in my Journal Stats about Thursdays run. If you recall, I was a little nervous about the 20 minute jog interval that Couch 2 5K calls for on that day.

          -----------------------------------------------------------

          - D3, W5, C25K (indoor track - sweet!)

          Brisk 5 minute warmup walk
          Jogged 22 minutes, 45 seconds (2 miles)
          Walked 20 minutes
          Total distance covered: 4 miles

          Woo hoo! How about that?

We can run for distance or time, and it has been easier for me to keep up with time intervals than distance intervals when I run in my neighborhood. So although I know how much total distance I cover when I run in the neighborhood, I don't keep up with the distance of each interval that I run. I have a really neat little timer that I am able to hold in my hand to time my intervals. Since this particular session today only had 1 interval to keep up with (20 minutes or 2 miles) and I was running on the indoor track, I was able to count the laps while running and found that when I had completed 20 minutes, I was just a little over a lap shy of the 2 mile mark, so I went for it. Piece of cake!

          ----------------------------------------------------------------

And today, I rode my bicycle outdoors for 10 miles.

Gotta go for now - Have a great weekend, everybody!

Thank you, thank you Glenda! I really am quite proud.

Yesterday, I completed Day 1 of Week 6 of the program and it rocked! I also got in some upper body dumbbell work and some pilates. Have to admit, though, that I just chilled today. Should have gotten some in since Mondays are a long work day for me, but I just never got the oomph. Ah well.

My food has kinda been sucking. I'm sick of so many things, that I overeat the things that I like. Ugh. I've said it a million times... I've never eaten a food that is not legal, but it is very easy to abuse legal food. I want to eat WAY more calories than my weight of 120 requires. (Which reminds me - you may notice that I've had to change my stats/ticker to show that I'm back at 125. )

Gotta come up with a new game plan.

              Have a great week, Everyone!

Hey, Mitzi! I'm so proud of you for your running and weight lifting and stuff.

I'm working on my food these days. Getting REALLY squeaky clean. I went for a 3 mile walk and worked up a HUGE blister on my heel. It's literally the size of my thumb! So, now I'm outta commission.

Okay, after reading through a good part of this thread I know what to do now !!
My goals for right now are

Keep my water at close to 200 ounces a day
                    No dairy
                    no nuts
                    no sweetners of any kinds
so no diet soda or chrystal lite or so on, just water
No processed meat, exception being bacon a few days a week.
                    pure meats and fish only.
I will add on excercise the first day I wake up feeling normal again, or Monday, which ever comes first lol !!

Okay, I was wondering with all the discussion of portions, how do you determine the right portion of say meat and veggies. Are two normal size chicken thighs and a cup and a half or so of cooked green beans acceptable ?
How many eggs and bacon for breakfast ?? I would love some imput on this subject. Like Sherri , I rarely eat after dinner and I am up very late, so it can be as many as five or six hours from dinner to bedtime on an average night.
                    Thanks,

                        Stephie,

My daily menu looks like this, usually:
                        Breakfast:
1/2 a 16 ounce bag of frozen cauliflower, steamed and mashed
2 extra large eggs fried in a tablespoon of lard (bacon grease, chicken grease, beef tallow, all are great too)

                        Lunch:
1 10 ounce package of some frozen vegetable (broccoli, spinach, asparagus, or something like that)
6-8 ounce portion of fatty meat
butter, olive oil, walnut oil or lard as a fat on my vegetable.

                        Dinner:
4 cups of "salad" of lettuce, peppers, jicama, mushrooms, tomato, cucumber, cilantro etc.
walnut or olive oil as the "dressing" salt and pepper OR mayo
8-10 ounce portion of fatty meat
                        ~Joy

Wow, lots of posts today! That's good. Participation in the thread seems to ebb and flow, but I think that's because we are all so busy right now. I am finding it very diffucult to squeeze in good computer time.

Shephie! Welcome to the group. Not to worry about missing my post in your journal. There is so much going on around the board, that it's very easy to miss a post. I'm just glad that you're here now.

Ugh, it's late and I need to go to bed. I'll make some time to post here tomorrow, because I've got some really long hours at the boutique starting Friday and will get very little computer time until next week.

Another great day. Day five low carb and day four of no caffiene or sweetners. Withdrawel has been very rough but I know it is all worth it in the end !!
Lots of water, already at 105 ounces and will get a lot more in by bedtime, I aim for 200 ounces and I should be very close to that. I ended last night at 192 ounces. That does not count any water I had during the night as I woke up in real pain in my legs from withdrawel, and had to take ibuprophen and drank a big glass of water with that.
I hope everyone is having a great day today !!

                              Greetings, All

Stephie, your goals are outstanding! Wow, there's a lot of items on that list... each of them are very important, too. Sounds like you have a plan! Just keep in mind that nuts and dairy aren't necessarily problems for everyone. I can eat hard cheese (like cheddar, swiss, provolone) and cream cheese. Cottage cheese and ricotta cheese bloat me and cause intense cravings, though. And nuts are a problem for a lot of people, but are a healthy food, too. So, just carefully experiment with them when the time comes. You may find one that you can tolerate.

Joy, thank you so much for sharing your expertise with Stephie. We sure do appreciate that! I am having a really hard time spreading myself around the board lately. I only have a little time, but lots of places on the board that I need to visit... I never know which ones to hit when I get a moment. So I appreciate the help. By the way, why did you get a blister on your walk? Did you have on the wrong shoes? I hope that it gets better soon.

Heidi, it's wonderful to hear that you are on track in the midst of everything going on around you. Well done, girl! It's getting soooo close - exciting!

Well, my food has gotten better during the last couple of days. And exercise is going well, too. Yesterday I rode my bike for 10 miles and did my Basic Ab Workout for Dummies DVD (I love that dvd!). Today I completed D3, W6, C25K. This is what it looked like:

                              Brisk 5 minute warmup walk
Jogged 2.25 miles! Took 25 minutes
                              Walked 5 minutes

Woo hoo!!! This was my longest interval of running without a break. I'm no speed demon, but I do try to keep good form while running. Yay, me!

Tomorrow, Friday, and Monday are days that I will have to work open to close at the boutique because my SIL and niece are going out of town. That means long days and little computer time. I won't be able to be here during the day, but I will definitely check in during the evening.

                              Have a great Friday, everyone!

                                HI Mitzy,
for me it comes down to addictions and the breaking of them. Every single favorate food I have, with few exceptions, are dairy based, especially desserts, so I felt it was somethign that if my body craves it that much, I might not need to be eating, same with nuts, for now, I will avoid them.
I may add both in later in limited amounts but for now, I am quite happy without them and doing great on my meat and eggs and veggies and salad. I am not missing a thing.
This time is about doing what I feel is the best for my body and making changes that will get me where I want to be !!
I am glad you are doing well, that is great news !! You are doing great on the running, that is wonderful !!
It sounds like you are in a good place and I do promise when the time is right, I will experiment with the nuts and the dairy, just not now !!!
