Mitzi, what's up with that self-destructive behavior?? It's crazy! I do it all the time too.

I did really good yesterday. A little high on the protein, but it's okay.

      Awww, Mitzi,
I am sorry you had a rough day. Do not beat yourself up, you really could have done a lot worse then some almonds, very healthy, and blueberries, also very healthy and the coffee , really, you did not do that bad !!
Just start over and you will be fine. You have gotten to goal and you can stay there too. You are human and it is easy to get in a mood and let food take over but you really did chose some decent things if you had to overindulge !!
I hope today is better !!

        Hi, Everyone

Another day that got out of control.

I was doing fine, until the celery. Celery, you ask? Yep.

I don't usually keep peanut butter in the house anymore, because I have control issues with it. But since it's summer and Daniel is home everyday, I thought I would give him another sandwich option. So I got some a couple of weeks ago. And things have been fine... didn't matter at all to me that it was in the cabinet. The other day, I bought some celery to munch on. Knowing full well that it could be trouble. Because you see, I can handle peanut butter alone... I can handle celery alone... but I CAN NOT resist celery and peanut butter together. What was I thinking? I knew damn good and well I was playing with fire when I bought it.

So, after almost half of a new 28 ounce jar is gone, I have thrown the rest of the peanut butter away.

I ran out of celery, anyway.

Oh, boy, mitzi! You have had a rough week.

Do you think its possible the seemingly innocent fruit might have awakened the addict within? Perhaps it insiduously prodded you to purchase these seemingly benign foods on their own, (almonds, peanut butter, celery) and just waited for a weak moment to pounce?

I've been out researching on the web for long term goalies. Wanna know what I see? Lots of others who are out there like us, only tolerating meat and veggies and have the exact same troubles with nuts, cheese, dairy. We're not alone. My disappointment is that I thought I would be one of those exceptional people (why, I'm exceptional at almost everything I do, why would this be any different???) who could eat large numbers of carbs. Not so. But, the longer this goes, the more okay I am with that fact. At least I keep telling myself that....

I'm doing it. I may not like it, but I'm doing it. (staying clean)

I decided the other day after reading a post by Lyssie in Adena's journal, that weight training needs to be part of my "Back to Basics" mission.

Yeah, Joy... it could be the fruit. I've never been a fruit eater... ever! But damn... it tastes awesome now.

But then again, I don't know. Because these are the exact same kind of binges I had before I added fruit. I think it's the f*cking nuts and peanut butter (excuse my language... it just pisses me off). I have *zero* control with them, and yet, I keep trying. I'm hard-headed.

On another note - I don't remember where I mentioned it before, but I have had a membership to a gym for about 6 weeks now, but have only gone there twice for classes. When I went into the office to request that somebody show me around the machines, the owner (a man ) was sitting at his desk reading the newspaper. He said that I would have to make an appointment for that... even though it was slow in there, and he was just killing time. Really rubbed me the wrong way. It's like - I have your money, customer service doesn't matter now. So, I'm not thrilled with my health club. It's super close to my house, though, and I'm only paying $25 a month because my SIL added me onto their family plan. So, I need to put my big girl panties on and deal with it. I'm going to do a spin class in the morning, then make an appointment to get shown around at some point. I just need to keep my temper in check while I'm there, and make the best of it...

Oh no, that would have upset me too !! That is good you kept your temper as he would not have cared anyway. Those kind of people do really seem to care about anyone elses feeling. It is a shame how little people care about making thier customers happy. I am quite shocked that the owner did not at least offer to show you around. He is in the wrong business I would say !!
Well, at least you are getting a good deal and the spin class sounds so great !!!
I do not have control with nuts either, macadamia are my biggest issue so I have to stay very clear of them also. I miss them but like you, have no control sometimes after I start. I will try and maybe do good the first time, but then I will keep going back. So, I understand completely !!
I hope you enjoy it and a nice friendly person shows you around lol !!!

nuts are evil. And, for some reason, they are something that I too have to be very strict with myself. If I even get started on the nuts, everything else will go to **** within a couple days. My eating, my moods and my weight will just go down the tubes.

I don't understand why I have this (senseless) quest to add them back into my diet. It's like I keep asking the question (Can I have these?) over and over expecting the answer to be different. Yet, it NEVER is. It's always the same answer.

One of these days, do you suppose we'll ever just give it up? Or, do you think we'll continue to dance this dance? And, I'm not talking about giving up the WOL, I'm talking about giving up the freakin nuts (and for me, dairy and processed meats).

I guess that is why it is called addiction, you want it even when it is bad for you !! That was the hard part for me, learning that addiction is not just to caffiene or smoking or drinking, I thought I was safe from addictions but I am not. Dairy, nuts, sweetners, and the caffiene, they are all addictions /triggers for me.
I have stayed away from all of them like the plague because I do not want to start up any problems. Right now, so far, so good !!
I think you are right and it is something those of us who have a problem with it will deal with for our entire lives. Not what we want to hear, but I think it is the truth. Maybe in time the triggers will get less intense, but I have a feeling at least for me, I will have to watch it forever.

Hi everyone ...... I have failed miserably trying to get back on track this week ..... I had no money to shop and thought I could make due with what wa sin the hose and I was just wrong .... I am shopping on Monday and going back into full swing induction Monday morning ....I've put my family on notice that all "evil" foods must be out of the house by Sunday evening .... wedding cake choclates ect all must be gone!! Sunday will be spent shopping and precooking LOTS of meats and veggies for variety and I'm bracing myself for a rough induction week. Once I get through that week then I should be fine ..... it's actually about 10 days to form good strong habits for me. So the rest of this week is being spent reading up again and mentally preparing myself for the rechanges that will take place for me ..... why I do this to myself over and over again I have no clue I so admire those of you who can stand and say you have been cheat free for so long or even that your big cheats are things like celery!!!! ( love Ya Mitzi! )

I'm still on track exercise wise which is a good thing it's holding me at bay for sure!

I'm am curious as to anyone's thoughts about Dannon's Carb & Sugar Control Yogurt. Still unable to find Greek Yogurt. My mom is going to look for it at the stores where she lives. I want some freaking yogurt!!!

I'm kinda nervous to add nuts to my diet. I know in the past I have a hard time stopping.

Glenda, if you know nuts are a problem for you, there is no reason to add them just because it's the order to do it. If you were against drinking alcohol, no one would expect you to drink just because its the next thing to add to your diet.

The dannon yogurt is okay. However, it has fruit in it, so not legal until the fruit rung. Have you ever thought of making your own yogurt? Google "24 hour yogurt".

I've never made my own yogurt either, but it looks pretty easy. There are some YouTube videos out there that show you how to make it without fancy equipment.

Some where in this lovely state of VT there has got to be Fage Greek Yogurt!! I'm in a very rural area & the closest health food store is a 30" drive. With the price of gas we are trying to consolidate our trips. I will just have to be patient & be happy with the yogurt I have for now!
