      Hello, Everyone!

      Breezing through real quick.

Char, you have protein listed twice... You probably meant that 70% to be Fat, right? If so, your percentages look good to me.

Heidi, your numbers look fantastic, as well!

The percentage thing is just a guideline... for Induction, it is 65% Fat, 5% Carbs, and 30% Protein. As you Carb percentage increases in OWL, your Fat percentage decreases... your protein stays constant at 30%. I don't get too stressed over the numbers... the only thing I pay close attention to, is to try to keep my Protein percentage at or under 30%... excess Protein turns to glucose and I don't want that. I know of some members who are great about getting their percentages perfect, but mine rarely work out exactly that way... I just watch for excess protein. Seems to have worked so far.

Liz, I'm sorry to hear that you've been stressed. Perfectly understandable, though. I know you'll be so glad when all of that business is behind you.

Need to go check on the Veggie Challenge... see you guys later!

I haven't been here in a while again...things are getting absolutely crazy at work with the end of the school year so close. We only have 21 more days of school left, but I've got about 45 days of work left!!!

I've been eating on track, water has been great, only have a diet soda now and then (still trying to cut that out completely again!)....and....I'm exercising again !!! I just finished Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, Level 1...let me tell you...it's a workout!!! SI6 is nothing compared to this!!! Deb is an old softie compared to Jillian!

Well, it's getting late and I have to get things ready for the AM.

          Have a great night everyone!

The veggie challenge has helped me in the back to basics quest. I thought I wasn't getting enough veggie carbs & the challenge confirmed it. This week I'm feeling thinner~~~scrub pants are falling off of me & actually fitting into smaller underwear. It's those little things in life!

I think I am finally back down to warp speed! I planted tomatoes and peppers for a couple of hours yesterday, and did some landscaping. Then I went to UVA for my treatment. My therapist said I had to stop lifting, shoveling, troweling and all things garden. Humph...So today, I planted a dozen tomatoes and 20 pepper plants in my brother's garden (I dig the holes for tomatoes about 12 inches deep), and right after I pot up some peppers and herbs tomorrow, I'm going to listen to her.... Until it is time to plant squash and cucumbers.

My eating has been really off (not illegal, just odd times and stuff I don't usually eat) since I have been getting caught up. Today, I got back in my grove and had awesome meals, even if I didn't eat lunch until 2:30. For dinner, I had a grilled sirloin steak over which I ladeled a sauce of red peppers, onion, baby bella mushrooms and oyster mushrooms in butter. I also made ratatouille with all fresh herbs from my garden. It was soooo good! Better than the steak!

I'm packing it in for the night. Another trip to UVA tomorrow, then the weekend will be here.

                  Sunny!

Mitzi, do you remember when I posted the question of whether the amount of water consumption once reduced would have an effect on my weightloss?

Well, I asked my doctor yesterday. She said there is absolutely zero evidence that prooves that one can lose weight if you drink more than 64 oz of water a day. She also said that one doesn't even need the 64 oz. Water is just to keep us hydrated but it's totally irrelevant to weightloss. WOW! Ofcourse not knowing what to say, I said "Oh" LOL! I told her I was just drinking lots of it cuz everytime I get cravings, I'd rather drking H2O than have a bite of food. I use it as a portion control method as well. Well there you go.
                    Hello Elsey,
Another good reason to drink your water, at least 2 quarts a day ( 64 ounces) , is because it's critical for your brain functioning. The brain uses more water and is made of more water than any other organ.
That's something your doctor should know, wouldn't you think? She should maybe drink more water to help her brain work better . Then she would have remembered that part when she graduated medical school. Hehe.

                      Good Evening, Everyone

Yay! I love to come here after a long day and read your posts. I have really enjoyed this thread, and appreciate your participation. Thank you!

Heidi, I am very proud of you for being so enthusiastic about this way of eating/exercising. You have blossomed, my dear, and it is a joy to behold.

Glenda, I am very excited to hear that you are feeling thinner and your scrub pants are falling off of you! At the beginning of this thread, I wrote that I had grown sick of food and had gotten away from veggies... I was living off of bars and vehicles for my splenda... I felt "puffy" and had gained 4 pounds. I, too, in large part attribute my new dedication and focus to participating in the Veggie Challenge. It drove home the fact that most of us are not eating enough net veggie carbs. And it also showed us what kind of results we can get when we do eat enough of them. We have only done this for 4 days, and we can tell a difference already! I have really enjoyed having you and Heidi in that Challenge. You have both done brilliantly, and it has been a wonderful affirmation to me that doing Atkins consciously, and correctly, yields amazing results. Thank you for sharing this with me.

Sunny, you are just a little dynamo, aren't you? And your dinner tonight has me salivating right now (I haven't eaten much at all today - too busy!) And I must tell you - yours is the 3rd reference to ratatouille that I have seen today. I must confess that while I have heard of that word before, I identify it more with the recent antimated movie with that name, than the actual food. I am very unsophisticated with regard to cooking/eating, and had never seen it before today when Heidi posted a pic of it in the Veggie Challenge. Very interesting looking... although, I have to admit... I'm not a big fan of tomatoes any other way except raw. I guess I need to follow the advice I offered in the Veggie Challenge thread... when you don't like a new veggie at first, try it a few more times before you swear off of it altogether. I haven't tried any in a very long time.

Sherri, I agree that water is very necessary for proper organ function. I'm not really drinking water to lose weight, as much as I am to give my body what it needs to function. I don't go overboard with it, but I do try to get in a minimum of 64 ounces daily. I did recently see something on my Yahoo News page that there are some guys doing a study out to prove that water is not necessary for the body. I just don't see how that concept could be possible. If nothing else, I can attribute the 3 times I have been terribly constipated to times when I did not drink nearly enough water the previous day. I hate that.

Which brings me to details for today. Again, I am just too tired to go into specifics. Here's the mini-version: I didn't eat very much at all today, but enough (a little over 1300 calories). But the choices were good, and I am satisfied. The Veggie Challenge has really helped me to stay focused this week. And it's given me great fiber, which makes things move along nicely... I've been happy.

Today I did my first ever spin class! It totally rocked, and I think I'm going to do another one tomorrow morning. Woot!

I have only had about half of my minimum of water today. That's just a shame... really, even though I was busy, I should have made the effort to drink more. I WILL do a better job tomorrow.

                      Good night, All!

Hi Everyone...I am finally back from my business trip and I am starting induction over. I was less than legal on my trip and I am super excited to be back on track today. I'm not going to weigh until all the water retention is gone and I'm back in ketosis. I trust the damage won't be too bad as I did get a lot of exersize in but you never know!

I felt like I have lost my mind since I came back from Vegas. I mean, I haven't really had anything really bad but I have been eating a lot of meat (WAY too many hot wings, almost every day) and hardly any veggies. My protien intake must be way above what it should be. Also, I have been drinking coke zero and i have no idea what is up with that! I have been off caffiene since January. I am just frustrated. I am hoping it is because I am having finals this week and next. I even let a friend buy me a coffee. I had sugar free syrup put in it but I saw the girl put a little bit caramel on it and I didn't say anything. I ended up only taking two sips and pretending the rest and throwing it away.

Wow, is right! I think there is a whole page of posts missing. Ah, well... growing pains, I suppose. Things should straighten out within the next couple of days with the board upgrades (hopefully).

It's good to hear from you again, Porcelain.

I'm thinking it may be a little slow on the new board, until people get comfortable with it. I know I was wandering around the old board, and had even made a long post, until I saw a thread titled "Don't Post Here".

Ugh, I'm tired after my long day. I have all of the details for my food, but I'm too worn out to type them in. I didn't get home from work until 8:00... and I have another long day tomorrow.

Lots of new stuff to learn! I'm too old to learn new tricks! Having spell-check is nice for a change. That means I can get lazy again. OKay, I downloaded the spell-check last night, but I just tried to use it and it said I had to download the program.

I'm grilling/BBQing a chicken on one of those beer-butt thingies, though I am using Sprite 'cause I don't drink beer. I don't drink sodas, either, so I just got one out of a machine to try it out. The chicken been injected and marinating for a couple of days--it should be interesting, to say the least. I got a cookbook from the library all about this way of grilling meat. I'm doing veggie kabobs to grill along with it. They are marinating right now. I was going to do it for lunch, but I'm so worn out from the long day at UVA and then bible study and choir practice right after until 9:30 p.m., that I am now going to do it for dinner--after I crash and rest.
