I have been slacking about my fitday too. I need to get back on track with that.

Proud to say I got all my water in today! And I took my vitamin pack.

    Hi, Joy

Good job on today! I'll take a peek at your Fitday tomorrow. And, YES! 30 minutes of walking is definitely better than the arse thing.

OK - pressed for time, so I'll get down to business:

Breakfast: 2 Hebrew National beef franks; 1 whole cucumber

Mini-meal: 1 cup jicama; 1 ounce cheddar cheese

Mini-meal: 1 servng sugar snap peas; 1 ounce cheddar cheese

Dinner: Hamburger patty topped with 1 ounce provolone cheese; cup of mushrooms sauteed in butter; 4 1/2 ounces broccoli topped with 1 ounce cheddar cheese

    Fitday Totals:
    1576 calories
31 net carbs (19 of those were net veggie carbs)
    67% Fat
    8% Carbs
    25% Protein

    - Drank 72 ounces of water

    - Took Supplements

    - Didn't exercise

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Reflections on the day:

    - Getting easier

    - Since I didn't squeeze in exercise today, I want to try to exercise Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Hi, everyone. I'm back to basics again today. I did eat more calories than I planned to, but, it was all on plan.

All the details are in my fitday. I'd love the accountability for anyone that feels like taking a peek every now and then, particularly if I'm not posting. That's why I put the link in my signature, to try and build some accountability in.

I also need some help remembering that even 30 minutes of walking at lunch is better than sitting on my arse all day.

    Good Evening, Everyone

It's about 8:30 and I am just sitting down. Daniel had a dentist appointment at 4:30 across town, and we didn't get home until 6 from that. Then feeding everybody... you know the drill.

Porcelain and Sherri ~ welcome! Great to have you. Porcelain, sorry that you have been feeling so rough. Definitely try to work on getting your water in. Sounds like you, Betsy, PT, and I are having trouble with that. I have gotten a little over my minimum each day, but I have to force it. And I think that it is a great idea to break your walk up throughout the day. Even if you didn't get another session in that day, at least you would have one under your belt. I think that consistency is what is important, and this help you achieve that.

Sherri, sorry to hear that your pain index is high. Have you talked with a doctor about whether pushing throught the pain is advisable? I know that in some situations, that is what you do. But in other situations, it is not good. I did some reading about running before trying it, and it advised against pushing through pain. But that's for running... I don't know about for you. Have you talked with doc about it?

PT, I sure do appreciate your enthusiasm with our thread. Like I said earlier, you really were one of the ones who inspired me. I think that we are at similar stages, and experience some of the same things. I can soooo see myself craving chocolate mousse all night.

Glenda, it's great to hear that you have been able to stay on plan even though you are having long, busy days. Atta girl! The knee situation sucks, though. I really hope that you can get some relief soon. I just can't imagine living in constant pain.

Elsy ~ once again, your menu looks spot on! Excellent. So, TOM has been lurking, eh? No wonder you've been feeling down. All things considered, you really haven't been negative at all. Keep up your momentum!

Jess ~ Ahhhh.... ketosis! Good for you, girl. I know how you love it, and have been needing it. Thank you so much for sharing with us... you, too, were one of the sources of inspiration for this thread. Hey, I can definitely see what you mean about the sticks being a source of motivation... makes me want to try it.

Betsy ~ Hope that your appointment went well today.

OK, I think that I will post my summary for the day in a separate post. I've got a couple of things to do right now, and I'll be back later.

    See ya!

Re: ~*~ Back To Basics ~*~

Just before I found this thread, I had posted in my journal that I was thinking about going back to induction because it was a "no brainer" and I didn't like the way my diet is going. I eat eggs and jicama every day and my appetite is so low, I am still struggling at times to get over 1200 so I end up eating late and something that isn't optimal. I used to eat a lot of spinach and bell peppers but I all of a sudden didn't want anything but jicama and cucumbers.

My water is down too, I don't like drinking less than 2 liters a day too, it has gotten bad over the past 5 days.

Two weeks ago after swimming a mile, I had a flare of my fibromyalgia and I had to lay off exercise for a few days. As soon as I did that, my blood pressure went up and I got weak, so I haven't done much cardio since then and I haven't swam at all. Part of this is school, I have been going extra days but most of it, I just feel weak and tired. I think this is mostly a combination of my water going down a bit, no cardio, and no green veggies. That's why I was thinking about just starting all over again or just going back to the nut rung (I need the fat and calories adn I don't overeat). I moved up to berries but I just don't think my body is ready for it. They were good but they weren't that good, you know?

I have decided if I couldn't go back to walking an hour at a time like I was doing, I was going to walk at least 15 minutes at least 5 mornings a week then try to do what I can later in the day, 15, 30, or 45 minutes, whatever I can handle.

Oh, and my sad confession, something I haven't done since I started doing this right in January, I at a low carb cookie. I had taken my sleep medicine and I was having major munchies but even through that haze I said to myself "This **** has got to stop."

    Hello Everyone,
What a great thread Mitzi! I've decided that I would like to join these wonderful, hard working, and dedicated Atkineers.
I can see where I can brush up on a couple of things. I would like to spread my veggies out more throughout the day rather than eating most of them at the end of the day. I am on Rung 6 Legumes. Also, I would like to be more consistant with my exercise and I really need some support on that. My disability(hip) can get in my way at times. Mostly when it's cold and the Pain Index is high, which has been the case this last week. I've really noticed since getting back into my routine of hiking, stair climbing and gazelling, how the weather influences my pain level. Which in return slows me down. I really need to try and push through the pain and get moving more.
So any encouragement and suport relating to these issues are welcomed, open-armed.
Today so far i've had- breakfast: stir-fry veggies, mushrooms, brocolli, celery, onion, bean sprouts, zuchinni, ginger, sesame oil, chamomile tea, water/ Lunch: Atkins meatloaf with salsa, water, and I havn't decided dinner yet. I gazelled 1.2 miles on the gazelle for 25 minutes.
I look forward to coming here each day and catching up with all of you.
Thanks again Mitzi for this thread.
    Sincerely, Sharon Sherri}{

Long long day at work today & I'm wiped out. Instead of turning to carbage with the excuse of comfort I'm cruising ADBB & reading posts & looking at pictures. DH is fixing me some shrimp with low carb cocktail sauce.

Hope everyone has had a decent day!

Mitzi, I'm glad you don't think I'm negative. I know I'm usually not this way, but I have been pesimistic for a long time now. I gotta get out of this mode urgently...

    Here's my menu for today:

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs in olive oil and 1 tbsp of green salsa
Lunch: 3 chicken drums, 2 cups of green salad, 2 tbsp of cesar dressing, 1 oz of shredded cheddar cheese, 5 slices of cucumbers (I had a huge lunch)
Snack: 2 slices of turkey breast and 1 slice of jicama
Dinner: 4 oz of ground turkey over a cup of lettuce, 1 tbsp of sourcream and 1/2 avocado
1.5 gallons of water and my supplements

TOM is taking a peek today. No wonder i feel so .........Ah, you fill in the blank. LOL!

Wed morning and I am in ketosis. I felt the energy rising up over the last few days and the sticks finally have turned. I do use them, they are such a motivational help, since I do not use the scales....
This has been a hard fought battle to get here. I think I've been out for over 6 mos.
Can't wait for my favorite shorts to fit again! That's been so disgusting to not be able to wear them.
This is definately the harder part of this whole way of life, maintaining what you have achieved! I've thrown it away so many times, and yet this time I am some how going to hold on! I have to. It feels too good to totally give up on.

Hello to everyone! Life has been busy & I'm staying on track. Still struggling with exercise but I'm trying. After I get out of work I'm so fried that everything is an effort. I see my orthopedic doctor on May 2 & am hoping we can come up with a solution for my knee~~~I'm willing to go under the knife again at this point. Chronic pain sucks...I'll stop whining!

Food is good, H20 intake is good & am taking my vitamins!

    Good Evening

Q ~ You are doing so well! That's fantastic... your food looks perfect, your water intake is amazing, and I definitely think we can cut you some slack on not exercising today. Your body needs rest sometimes. And anyone who can manage to get up at 3:45AM to exercise really means business! I am positive that your hard work will pay off.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Summary of Day 3 (Tuesday)

Food choices were not the best today. I am particularly embarrassed about breakfast. I waffled back and forth over whether to do it, but succumbed in the end. Breakfast is a challenge for me, because I start my day early and don't want to eat then, unless I can have a shake. I've written about shakes in my Stats Journal before... not going to go into all of that here, but the bottom line is - after I finish with Induction foods for at least 2 weeks, I will go back to having a shake at 6:00AM. I will do this, though - I will try to come up with a shake that I can make at home, rather than have the Atkins ones.

Breakfast - Atkins Chocolate Royale Shake (and it was the last one I had, so I can't fall back on them anymore)

Mini-meal - 1/2 bag of pork skins ; 1 ounce baby swiss cheese; 1 cup jicama

Mini-meal - the other 1/2 bag of pork skins ; 1 ounce American cheese; 1 serving sugar snap peas

Dinner - 8 ounces cauliflower topped with 2 ounces cheddar cheese, 4 slices bacon, and 2 tbsp. sour cream. I also sauteed 4 cups of raw baby spinach leaves in the drippings from the bacon.

    Fitday totals:
    1638 calories
21 net carbs (14.3 of those were net veggie carbs)
    64% Fat
    6% Carbs
    30% Protein

    - Drank 80 ounces of water

    - Took supplements

    - Completed 40 minute "Basic Ab Workout for Dummies" workout

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Reflections on today:

    - I'm not happy about the pork skin frenzy. That wasn't a small bag I consumed... it was 640 calories worth. I don't usually have them around, but I got them today on the way home from work to use as a coating for chicken tenders I was going to make in a couple of days. Well, they were just too easy to grab and get into. I was hungry, and it was quick. The good news is, I'm sick of pork skins now.

    - I'm very proud that I did some exercise. I didn't wanna, but I did it. I'm not going to try to run again until next week... I'm still a phlegmy mess.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yeah - Ketosticks - Like Julie, I've never used them. So, I guess I never "officially" know when I go into ketosis. I have just gone by how I feel. Part of me would like to try them, just to see what would happen. But I am VERY OCD about some things, and I could see them playing head games with me. I guess I should stay away, unless it seems like I'm not getting there and I need to test. By the way I'm feeling, I think that I'm close if not already there.

I thought that I had tomorrow off of work, but it turns out that I will be working until 4 so I won't be here until tomorrow everning. I hope that all of you have an excellent day tomorrow!
