  • I Cheated!

There, now that I have your attention!

Be prepared! I am now a woman on a mission! Anyone care to join me?
I hereby proclaim myself the “cheat police”. I along with several others have been sitting back and reading posts here on the board all summer. ENOUGH!

Cheats are no longer acceptable!!!!!! From now on I am asking everyone to post a cheat, admit to the cheat and then instead of the “it is ok” replies. HELP THAT PERSON! We are not helping anyone here by coddling and saying “it’s ok”. How is that helping? People are going to be held accountable for “I cheated posts”. That is how it was when I joined this board AND, that is a good thing! We break it down, find out why you cheated and how to fix it! I never cheated (remember this is after 40 years of failures)……. I never cheated cause I was a regular poster here and more important I read every post. I learned more from what I read then you can imagine.

    I learned baby steps.

I learned to say “I can do this WOE for 5 minutes” and say that over and over until I got through a day.

I learned to stand in front of the mirror and NOT lie to myself.

I learned to cry, laugh and holler at myself.

I learned it was not because I was stressed, not because I was happy, not because I was sad.

I learned to be honest with myself.

I also learned this was the one place I could come where people “got it”. They knew what I was going through and they could help me.

Let us help you! It is called “tough love” and some of you may be very angry at me right now, but that is ok. Anger can really motivate you!

You cheated. Ok. That happens. But, now the most important thing is to find out why you cheated and how to prevent it from happening again. That is why we are here! To help each other and to find the answers to the problems.

HAVE A PLAN OR PLAN TO FAIL!

I failed at more diets in my life time then I care to even begin counting. Why? I JUSTIFIED IT! It was NEVER me, there was always someone or something else to blame.

    THE BUCK STOPS HERE

None of us here who have had success with Atkins are any different then anyone else.

We all put our pants on the same way every morning. EVERYONE here is as entitled to and can do it. So……….. LETS JUST DO IT!

September is just a few days around the corner. Are you feeling good about yourself? Well, you’re the only one that can change it if you need to. Oh yeah, we can help. And we will help. But, you have to become accountable.

So............who is with me! I am determined!

        Re: I Cheated!

        You are so right.
I realize that others have been told they are too harsh when they come back with definite answers and seemingly "tough" comments, but, what is it that you want?

If you continue down the path you are going, a year from now you will be a year older, and likely larger.

If you continue to follow the plan you started, a year from now you will also be a year older, but your health will likely be better; you'll be smaller, and you'll be so much more pleased with yourself for sticking with something you started.

So . . . what choices are you going to make today to keep you on track?

        - will you read encouraging posts (or even the "tough love ones)?
        - will you read a chapter of the book, if you've forgotten something?
        - will you spend some time making menu plans, rather than just stuffing your face with the first thing on hand (and this is dangerous, if you're the only one in the house eating like this)
        - will you exercise, even if it's only a short walk (based on your abilities at present)?
        - will you journal?
        - will you enter foods in fitday?
        - will you take your measurements for reference?

Certainly, you don't have to do all of the above, but you certainly have to make choices that fit with your plan, not just listen to the monster on your back trying to get you back into your old way of thinking.

Really, people. Nobody is tying you down and force feeding you high carb content foods. Only you can do what's right for you. If you choose not to do that, then why are you here?

Harsh this sounds, I realize, but I've been through all the failures and I've seen what they have done to loved ones. Besides, I can get away with this . . . I'm not physically in your face telling you this, and you can choose to ignore this, as well as you can choose to follow all the stickies and other really great suggestions that others have written through the length of time this Board has been in operation.

Well . . . what is your decision?

          Re: I Cheated!

          I am with you, Bren!

I just posted in my journal stats yesterday that my self sabatoge had to stop, and if anyone saw my posts showing that I'm not doing right, to kick my fanny back into gear. (And that includes LACK of posting... if I'm not posting, I'm not behaving.)

Sticking that junk food into our mouths doesn't do any good, and not confessing those cheats or being told "it's ok" makes it even worse because then the cycle goes on and on. What we're going to be like at goal is worth so much more than the few seconds that bite is going to taste good.

So if I need slapped.... do it!

                Re: I Cheated!

I agree with everything you said !!! and I am hard core you know that...there is no excuse for not sticking with this except that you are
                giving up on trying

                have not really tried

do not want to try to do it correctly

...the only person who stands in the way of loosing weight and keeping it off is you!!!

.....but I do not like the word "Cheat" ...it is so self depricating (did I spell that right?) ..IMHO only mind you ..I do not want to start a dialog or anything...I do want to strongly support the underlying motive here ...there are a lot of EXCUSES for not sticking with it ...but I have yet to hear one good REASON!

                        Amen, Sisah Bren!

I absolutely agree that we're all human and susceptible to screwing up. But I'm frequently discouraged by all the posters who whine about all the reasons they cheat and are not willing to take responsibility for their own eating. I'm always worried that if I'm tough and say something like, "Grow up!", I'll be blackballed.

Bottom line - only YOU can can control what goes into your mouth. Yes, it's work to make it work. Anything worth doing in life is not always going to be fun. But oh, the rewards!

As ye slap so shall ye be slapped!

                          lol lol lol

Yep, call me a Cult leader, Call me a Atkins Natzi........ call me what you will, does not bother me a bit! I am loaded for bear and ready to stomp out cheating.

                          NO "EXCUSES"
                          NO "CAN'T"
                          NO "WHINING"

Seroiusly though, this is not meant to offend or hurt anyone. I am doing this because I CARE! The old "this hurts me more then it hurts you" thing your Mom always said. BUT, if your not a success then we need to find out why and get 'er done . When I found Atkins and more important ADBB I found a place that changed my life. I only want all of you to find it and get it! I started off slow........real slow. But I went through the motions and somewhere I along the way I "got it".. now I have the emotion and that is what keeps me going.
