    Exactly!!!!

Personally I believe that someone who uses a tough love approach with me about this cares more than one who tells me it's okay to cheat. Maybe they're telling me it's okay to cheat because it makes them feel better when they do. Just a thought.

      Re: I Cheated!

      I so agree with everyone!

I am the poster child for how to waste a year of your life not losing weight when you know all the tools are at your disposal.

We are NOT a board of coddlers and enablers, we are aboard of believers and motivators.

I want to see a lot more success stories (myself included) than cheat stories (myself included again). I want to come here and see people telling of how they overcame an obstacle, how they avoided a "cheat". I want to read that and say, "if they can do it, I can do it". Because that is the truth, I CAN do it. So can everyone here.

      Remember two things:
      1. Nobody is feeding you, nobody is putting the food in your mouth. Your choice of what's on the fork. It really is that simple.
      2. NOTHING tastes as good as thin feels.

Well....I agree. But then again, Bren's in good company with the likes of you, Miss JimmieJo I've read a lot of your tough love posts and each one sure rings a bell in my heart and mind...even if they weren't directed at me personally.

                    Re: I Cheated!

I'm so with this. The reason I love ADBB is because of the No-nonsense approach it takes. Doing the plan the right way.

I found a quote that appealed to me..."I can have results or I can have excuses. I cannot have both".

I went to a seminar a month or so ago where one of the topics was about achieving results. The theory is that whatever your true intentions, you WILL get the result for that intention. The example they use is you set a New Years Resolution to lose weight. But you don't lose weight. Your true intention was NOT to lose weight...and we know that because the result was no weight loss. Maybe the true intention was to prove to yourself why you CAN'T lose weight. Or your true intention was to NOT challenge yourself, or to be able to eat whatever you want.

If you focus on making your true intention to lose weight, you change your SUBCONSCIOUS thinking about losing weight, you WILL lose weight. How do you do that? You have to constantly keep your eye on the big picture. Not make excuses, use imagery to "See" yourself thin. If you change your subconscious thinking...your subconscious WILL find a way to get the job done.

I really believe this is true too.

                        Joy,

I like that quote as well. It is from "How to think like a loser; Thoughts on weight loss by Dr. Jim Garlow (c.2005)"

I have his list on the wall of my desk, I am looking at it right now.

I should post it, it is a great list.

                            Jim,

Thanks for giving me the details of where it came from...I want to get the book and read it. I saw the list on another person's website, I couldn't remember the book name, but I remember and think often on that statement.

That other one is very good too.

                                Re: I Cheated!

I think for the folks who have fallen off and come back, one of the most important things to do is to figure out why. What triggered the fall? Is what you have to ask yourself. Sit down and write a list of all the triggers/temptors. Then formulate strategies to combat these triggers.

We live in a real world and everyday we are confronted by difficulties and stressful situations. We need to develop healthy coping skills otherwise, we won't progress.

So sit down, write a list of triggers/temptors and write out a plan to combat them. This will help you not only while you are losing weight, but also while you are maintaining your goal weight.
