    WOW has this thread taken a turn. I think everyone is giving their opinions but that is it. Opinions are opinions. Some people drink alcohol in my opinion Its bad for you. I wouldn't do it but my husband does occasionally. I say you don't need it he says ok and does it anyway that is just my opinion. My husbands grandmother did atkins and she has the 1972 version. She didn't feel good (no energy and was always sick) with only 5 carbs so she herself upped her intake and lived happily until 1998 when she passed away at 80. It affects everyone differently I'm sure. Ask and you shall receive. Maysea asked and Maysea received. Take it as you will!

      I didn't sign in to cause trouble nor do I advocate that anyone eat very low carb.

      The point I was trying to make, was that any person wanting to do Atkins should get the book, the newest book- there is a reason it was re-written, and read and re-read it because there is always something you miss.

      Anyone just starting should just follow the book to a T w/o any tweaking, until they are well down the road.

      Too many times I have seen people come to low carbs boards and they think they can do it simply by reading the threads and post.

      IF you read the book, the entire book and follow as written- you will lose weight, you will feel better & look better without having to resort to any fast.

          You are 100% correct. If something is re-written and done so differently there is always a reason. Welcome to ADBB.
