Hey folks... LOL... at the gym last night... There was this girl on the walker next to me.. she must have been 50 lbs lighter than I am. I did incline 5 mostly, but kept moving it down to 3 or up to even 8 at times, just to amuse myself. I get bored easily. I was DONE after 20 minutes, and knew if I didnt find a way to amuse myself, I was going to quit early. SOOOO, she hops on 20 min after me, and every time I look up, she is looking over at my machine. I was varying my speed depending on incline, between 2.8 and 3.0... and it started to get funny. THey beep when you mess with them, so every 30sec to a min, I would change something, just to get her to "peek" at my machine, while she thinks I am not seeing. HELLLLLOOOOO can you say MIRRORED workout room? I am proud to report that even way lighter, she stayed at 3.0 for 25 min, and then hopped off, looking exhausted. Probably from all the neck swiveling exercises. Then I had to amuse myself for the last 20 min.... I did an hour. ANd after an hour, it says I only burned 580 calories. I was bummed, but my feet and legs were numb, quite literally, so I had to stop. All in all.. a good workout. I out exercised the skinny minny with the Weight Watchers magazine next to me, and it highly amusing too.

sorry about that Fancy! You may be able to eat some of that stuff as you climb the rungs. Sounds like Atkins maintenance to me. You are right you can't make him...this is as much about a place in your head as eating right. When you get to that place in your head it makes the eating so much easier.

Woohoo, woman! WTG!!! You are a role model!

I recalculated how to gauge weight loss more accurately.

I've been reworking the weight loss formula to be more specific. Calculating BMR based on multiplying weight times 11 is problematic and doesn't account for activity or metabolism!

So I am going to recommend that anyone who is going to figure weight loss first visit this site to calculate BMR. Make certain you read the difference between an active lifestyle and non-active one before checking the box. It is a little tricky, but it is worth it.

            My readout:
            Based on the following information:
Height 5' 5" Weight 225 lbs. Age 35 years Gender Female Activity Moderate You need approximately 2840 calories to maintain your current weight.

If your goal is to lose weight, subtract 500 calories from the value. If your goal is to gain weight, add 500 calories to this value. Keep in mind that calorie needs can vary +/- 20% depending on your personal metabolism. If you want to find out how to maximize your metabolism, visit a registered dietitian.
My metabolism is between 6-15% according to my weight loss, so I could, technically, eat as many as 3124 calories per day! OR NOT! Like I could eat that much.

            Still, read what it says...

If your goal is to lose weight, subtract 500 calories from the value. If your goal is to gain weight, add 500 calories to this value.
So, for my metabolism, I would be looking at 2624 calories to lose weight from my current BMR. If I negate high metabolism altogether, 2340 calories total, subtracting the 500 for weight loss.

So, if I eat to a BMR of 2340, I am effectively cutting out 3500 calories a week, and will, therefore, lose a pound a week. To lose 2 pounds a week, subtract 500 more, either through adding exercise or by removing 500 more calories. For me to lose 2 pounds a week, in a vacuum (negating water retention, stalls, etc), I could have 1830 calories per day.

            Still pretty substantial.

So check the site and calculate for yourself how much you'd like to lose. Remember, as moochiecat's post says, not all weight loss is linear. some weeks will be quicker than others.

Also remember that as you lose every 5 pounds you need to refigure your bmr for greatest accuracy!

YAY! That's fantastic, Tammy! Definitely give yourself kudos for getting over that hurdle with grace!

              Breakfast:

2 eggs, 4 slices sugar free bacon, 1 T. of half and half and 8 oz. of coffee with 1 T. carmel Davinci SF syrup

Lunch: 1 serving low carb version of Farmhouse Pie

snack: 2 T. organic, natural SF peanut butter measured and eaten out of the tablespoon.

Dinner: 3 cups organic baby romaine lettuce and organic raw spinach with 5 oz. grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast. 5 cherry tomatoes, 1 T. feta cheese and 1 T. ranch dressing (measured).

              Calories: 1226 calories, 76 Fat, 20 carb (16 net), 114 protein

Why am I not losing????????????? This is so discouraging.
              Hmm... a couple questions.

What stage are you in? Induction? OWL? If OWL, what rung?

What is your BMR? Here's a great site where you can find out: http://www.room42.com/nutrition/basal.shtml. With few exceptions, most of us should be eating at least at our BMR. It may just be that your body needs more food to get your metabolism kicking!

Are your foods for the day breaking down into 65% fat, 5% carbs and 30% protein?

If you're in Induction, you may want to nix the peanut butter & cherry tomatoes. Peanut butter doesn't come until the nuts or legumes rung (depending on who you ask!) of OWL. And cherry tomatoes should be avoided in Induction all together as they're a pretty sweet veggie. Also, I'd avoid the low carb products - they could be a culprit too!

              I hope that helps!

LOL...Woman...it probably didn't take into account the extra exercise of pushing all those buttons. 580 is good! It takes about 3500 calories to make a pound of fat if I remember right. That means that if you do that every day you will burn off 1 pound of fat every 6 days and that is not even taking into consideration the extra moving you do through out the day! Keep it up!

Hey Everyone! Here are today's eats:

                  Breakfast
                  - 'crepes' (2 eggs, 1/8 cup cream, 1/8 cup water, .25t cinnamon, a few drops of liquid sucralose) filled with 1.5oz cream cheese (sweetened with 1t SF davinci syrup in vanilla)
                  - .5oz raspberries

                  Lunch
                  - 4.5oz dillweed tilapia
                  - 2 cups romaine with ceasar

                  Snacks
                  - .9oz cheddar
                  - 1 hardboiled egg
                  - 1 turkey pepperoni
                  - 2.3oz strawberries
                  - peanut butter concoction (1T peanut butter, .5t cocoa powder, a few drops liquid sucralose)
                  - 3.7oz cucumber

                  Dinner
                  - Not sure yet! I've got ground beef defrosting. I'm thinking either a taco bake or some Picadillo! Veggie will entirely depend on what I'm cooking, but I've got cauliflower, broccoli, portobello mushrooms, green beans, zucchini, tomato and snow peas in the fridge, so we shall see.

Speaking of tacos, CLEO! Tell us how you make your taco seasoning!

                    Lemmee grab mah recipe! *lol*

BRB... I just had taco salad for lunch.

It's not 0-carb, because of boullion, but it's pretty close.

                    2/3 cup beef boullion
                    1/3 cup chili powder
                    2Tbsp cumin
                    4 tsp pepper
                    4 tsp oregano
                    2 tsp garlic powder.

Use 2-3 Tbsp per 2 pounds of meat (or to taste) and add with 1/2 cup water

                    Stores great dry

5 carbs per tablespoon, which ends up as 1.25 if you only eat 2 ounces of meat

woman-- you should remove 500 calories for weight loss, according to the calculator, though. And if you feel satisfied, I'd stick around 1700!

I agree, though--when I saw I could have over 3,000 calories I about laughed out loud... there's no way I could eat that much.

And, just to bog down this thread with MEMEMEMEMEMEME,,, here is todays plan.

                          Breakfast/Brunch: 2 eggs in butter

Lunch/Snack: Salad with a chicken drum or two

Snack again: Hot sf jello, like tea... mmmmmm
                          Olives
                          Pickle

Dinner: I really dont know. Need to run and get veggies when my paycheck comes in. Maybe pizza forthe kids, and pizza snack for me. Or more chicken drums and broccoli.

and , of course, my water.

If I exercise today, it will be living room type things.

Now I need a reason to go see the doctor... I'm not changing my stats, because who knows? I'll worry about it closer to NYE!
