    Tammy,
Yes, you can have wheat bran and it's much easier to find than flax meal. It's called either Wheat Bran or Unprocessed Wheat Bran and it's in the natural foods aisle of my local Kroger. Yes, it is acceptable -- the three fibers you can for constipation problems are psyllium husks, flax seed or meal, and wheat bran. I much much prefer the wheat bran. I add 1 tablespoon to the Mock Danish and it gives it a less-eggy, more grain/bread taste. I use it as breading, mixed with pork rinds, to cut back on that salty-pork taste. And I use it every morning as a hot cereal. Whatever recipe you have for flax, you should be able to substitute some or all of it with wheat bran.

And the even better news? It is FAR lower in calories than flax. Flat has 763 calories per cup, wheat bran has 125. Per tablespoon, each should be counted as 1 carb.

I want to thank you guys for your reply's to my post, all that love and support had me crying as I read thru them. Thank you I really feel special and surrounded by love.
My doctors visit.....well we all know the scale was going to climb. How can it not when I was eating a liter of ice cream a night....before I got on the scale I just kinda looked at it and then stepped on and was shocked to my socks! I did gain, but what shocked me was I gained 1/2 pound. I was so happy. I faced the numbers and am moving on...to a day by day clean induction and looking forward to weighing next monday.
Thank you all for sharing in my ups and downs. Its good to have friends like you guys to go thru my journey with.
To all of you.... :hug :love :hug

Okay today has been a good day in the way of this WOE. I have been having alot of cravings lately but today they seemed to stop. I don't know why they just subsided and I got through my day much easier. I do think perhaps it was that I was a bit heavier on the water. Or I didn't take my CarbSmart vitamin which in looking back has coincided with a slow in weight loss and intense cravings. Wonder if that could be it. I'm going to look for a different vitamin and see how it goes. I measured today and made myself very accountable for every morsel. No picking prior to the start of meals either. So tommorrow is another day hopeully as good as this one.

                    • Still hanging in there, but have to report that I drank a diet soft drink the other day. I was driving at 5am, hadn't eaten dinner, and wanted to be more alert.

Other than that, things are okay.

                        • Well, everyone -- sorry I've been lax on getting caught up here. I spent all day yesterday in the Emergency Room with DH - after calling an ambulance to take him (THAT woke up the neighborhood at 5am!). Ohmygawd, it was the scariest scariest thing ever, because I had NO idea what was wrong with him. All I knew is that I have never ever heard my DH of 26 years scream in pain for hours at a time (actually, not even for minutes at a time). Long story short --kidney stones. Holy crap - 36 hours of agony and I swear I felt every pain right along with him. This has got to be how men feel when their wives are in labor! Helpless to do anything about the pain!

He's fine now. The stone "passed" (rolling eyes). We both took the day off from work today just to re-coop from the stress of it all. I did NOT miss my aquatics fitness class this morning, but I sure was wiped out at the end of that 60 minutes.

ANYWAY, I'm back, I'm going to spend tonight getting caught up here and make sure we're all on track and get caught up on everyone's posts.

Have a new idea for our challenge too, so read my post in an hour or two and give your opinion.

                          • OMG! How horrible for the both of you. Your DH for the pain and you for your feeling of helplessness. Glad he passed the stone (ok, did you guys get to keep it and does it look like a real rock?) and is feeling better.

You won't believe what this THING -- this tiny thing that put a 6'1" 200 lb man on MORPHINE for the pain -- looked like. Like a coffee ground. No kidding. A tiny little black speck. I cannot imagine how it could do what it did. He said it felt like he'd swallowed a sharp knife and it was moving around inside him. Can you imagine?!? From a coffee ground?!? Goes to show you how amazing the human body is -- that there's not MORE "coffee ground" size stuff floating around inside of you!

And the cause? Not drinking enough water, especially exercising without rehydrating. (I always thought it was from too much calcium, but it's not, according to the ER doctor). I've been after him and after him (he's had dehydration problems before this WOE), but NOW he suddenly thinks drinking water is a good idea (kidney stones have a high rate of recurring). Men!!!!!!!

One more reason to chug that water!!!!

                              • OK -- scoot your chair in closer, grab a bottle of water, and let's talk for a minute or two.

I've been thinking about this Challenge. It's working for SOME of us SOME of the time, it's not working for ALL of us ALL of the time. I'm trying to figure out why.

I think we all agree, we are not doing Atkins 100% to the best of our personal ability. For myself, that means I don't measure foods all the time, and I keep slipping on the dratted artificial sweeteners. I AM doing far better about using fitday, but I'm still not at 100% on that -- more like 85%.

So, I've been thinking. Are we OVER-challenging ourselves? Most of us have 3, 4 or even 5 areas we've listed as needing to do better. Are we overwhelming ourselves with this challenge?

I don't know if it's a saying, or a fact, but "they say" it takes 21 days to create a habit. I assume that means if I did fitday consistently for 21 days, at the end of that time I'd be able to do it without even thinking about it -- it would be automatic, a habit.

                                So.....

What if we re-start that Challenge -- we're STILL going to KICK IT UP A NOTCH -- but we're going to do ONE notch at a time and see if we can do this one thing for 21 days in a row and make it a habit! Then, when we get that one under our belt and feel comfortable with it, we can state the next "notch" we want to try.

We would check in one time per week -- Friday, Saturday or Sunday, whichever is easiest. As we've been doing, you don't have to report inches or pounds, but you do have to be honest about how you're doing with your personal challenge area. If you "goof" you will have to re-start your 21 days. If you make the 21 days, you then state your next "notch".

Is this too confusing?? I'm actually trying to simplify it! LOL

Tell me what you think -- are you overwhelmed with trying to add too many new behaviors all at once? Would it benefit to focus on one at a time? Let me know!

And here's a quote from http://greatday.com/motivate/index.html to get you thinking:

When there is much to be done, it can be tempting to try and work on it all at once. Yet rarely is anything ever gained by taking that approach.

The most effective effort is focused effort. Do one thing and do it well, with total focus, until the job is done. Let go of your thoughts and worries about what comes next. Give your attention to the task at hand.

Jumping back and forth from one thing to another can waste much of your time and seriously dilute your momentum. The more there is to be done, the more important it becomes to solidly focus your efforts.

Hurried and scattered actions will rarely get you there any faster. Be patient, stay focused on one task at a time, and you'll make the most progress.

Give your efforts the power of focus and momentum. And watch them bring spectacular results.

                                -- Ralph Marston
So, tell me what you're thinking (besides "My God, she sure does ramble on and on!" LOL)
