YAY Emma!! I don't think it's high impact either. My hip is really sore right now but I think it is unrelated to the exercise lol - it's a great workout!

I didn't do it today, tomorrow should be my day off but today is now my day off and tomorrow will be day 6 of week two.

Re: SLIM IN 6: Help Me Look Hot in My Wedding Dress Challenge!

Hey, Skinny, I hope your hip is better. It's hard to get around when your hip's giving you grief.
Boy, anybody notice that the closer it gets to the wedding, the happier Misplaced Southerner gets? She's going to be "Burning it Up" down the aisle lol. I can just see her doing leg kicks down to the preacher! Seriously, I'm happy for you, and so glad you inspired me to do slim in six. I've done an exercise program consistently for two weeks straight now. I haven't done that in years, which explains the shape I'm in. So thanks, and keep getting even happier.
Did ramp it up last night, getting better each time. Still having a little trouble getting all the reps in on the arm exercises w/exercise bands. Not that great with push ups yet, but I think by Monday I'll be ready for Burn it up. School's out Friday--both kids are grumpy because of finals. They also have the nerve to think I should go to the grocery store and buy food for them! They want me to buy Blue Bell ice cream--not going to happen, because I'm not sure I can leave it alone. Poor, abused children.
Well, have a great day, and think how much stronger, healthier and SMALLER we're going to be if we stick with it.

morning caryl!!!!! yeah, i am a happy girl and i am SO GLAD you are doing this with us! i HATE those arm bands....i am total weak sauce with my arms! i say MANY bad words doing that "eight more" after holding it at the top and starting again.

and you WILL leave the ice cream alone because it will 1. give you a tummy ache and 2. i will make you do 8 more reps with the resistance band and 10 more push ups....ha ha ha!!!

i am really totally proud of you!!! BTW...the boys stayed away last night after work while i exercised...wonder why? but the funny thing is i heard them scheming to do the ab workout together sometime today....new converts!

Re: SLIM IN 6: Help Me Look Hot in My Wedding Dress Challenge!

I've noticed that too, I can practically FEEL your glow through the computer! I can't wait to hear about the wedding and you are gonna feel so wonderful in your dress!

My hip is feeling better today - still sore so I'm going to do situps, pushups and the resistance band part of the workout and take a walk tonight. I don't want to push it and hurt it worse, trying those leglifts the other day I was almost in tears on that side so I think it's better to let it heal.

I actually like the resistance band part now! What I found is better though for the triceps is to use a free weight to work that part. It hurts my shoulder to use the band, I can't position my arms in a way that seems to work.

I'm still too scared to try Burn, haven't even looked at it yet LOL!

Re: SLIM IN 6: Help Me Look Hot in My Wedding Dress Challenge!

Yes, Misplaced Southerner, I WILL stay away from the ice cream. If the kids want some, I'll take them to DQ, but I'm not going to have it in the house. No sense setting myself up for failure. And if I have to do more pushups or resistance bands to make up for it, it's DEFINITELY not worth it. I'm a little proud of myself, too. The kids seem to admire me a little more, too. It's good to see a teenager look at you with something resembling admiration. Did I see another 3 pounds gone? Wow--you will be smoking hot in that wedding dress.
Skinnymom, I think that's a great idea about the weights instead of the bands on triceps. I may give that a try. Glad your hip is better, but don't push it too hard or it will rebel again.
Well, on to week 3 of regular exercise!

hi again skinny and caryl. skinny, watch that hip as you don;t wanna cause anything permanent. don't be scared of BURN...it is mostly all the same moves...just in OVERDRIVE! and the pixie gets a little pushy in her directions.....i have learned to turn the sound OFF and listen to my i-pod instead!

good for you and the ice cream caryl. no one in polite company wants to hear what happened to me once when i indulged in ice cream after not eating sugar for a long time... it was ugly. and i know what you mean about the teens. my 19 year old was IMPRESSED especially when he could not do all the moves. my lease favorite of the resistance band exercises is the shoulder lift...especially the left arm....it gets so tired! makes me growl!

doesn't it make you feel good to say 3 weeks?

Re: SLIM IN 6: Help Me Look Hot in My Wedding Dress Challenge!

                    Good morning, all!
I did ramp it up again last night. Did most of it, but the leg lifts were too hard on my gimpy eye. Holding my head down makes my eye feel like it's going to explode, so I just watched that part. Did the crunches. I did try the hand weights on the triceps. That worked much better. I did whack myself on the back of the head with it once, though. Klutziness seems to run in the family. I did learn to be a little more careful, though, and I didn't hurt myself, so it's all good. My daughter has wimped out on me the last few days. She feels her rest is more important during finals. I cut her some slack, and she swears she'll start up again Saturday.
It does feel good to say I'm exercising for STARTING THREE WEEKS. Good for me! I did go to the grocery store last night. I bought lots of veggies for me, and I did buy some ice cream for the kids. However it's red and blue, and that doesn't tempt me. I like my ice cream with chocolate in it.
I'm wearing a pair of jeans (real jeans, not the stretchy kind) that never did feel very comfortable, even when I bought them several years ago. Couldn't even wear them until this last month. Today, they not only fit, but they are LOOSE. I can put stuff in the pockets and not even feel it. I've been a little bummed because the scales have not budged in a couple of weeks. So it's really a lift for these jeans to feel so much looser than even a couple of weeks ago. The inches are going, and the pounds will follow. So let's keep it up! Have a great day!

I have almost completed week 2 and I think I am already seeing results! What about you guys? Where are you seeing the biggest difference? For instance I tried on a pair of my low rise jeans (size 4…gotta love vanity sizing) and where I normally had a muffin top all the way around...now not much hangs over at all…just a bit of tummy bulge in the front and even that is shrinking. Then last night I got a wolf whistle from my bf when I bent over to change dvds…says I am getting a cute little tight round…well never mind all that…lol…he said my butt is shrinking. I think I also have found muscles in my arms that did not exist before this workout. Anyway I am pumped to say the least…if this keeps up and I keep at it then I think this workout may really deliver the all over toning results it claims to in 6 weeks.

Re: SLIM IN 6: Help Me Look Hot in My Wedding Dress Challenge!

Way to go Kristy! It's great when someone else notices!
                        I don't think I wore a size 4 when I was 12! Sure haven't since.
I was feeling kind of depressed yesterday, so instead of going home or finding fast food to tempt myself to eat something I shouldn't, I went to Wallyworld (sometimes known as Walmart) and tried on clothes. I'm wearing 16's--Regular 16's, not 16W!!! I even fit into a pair of Junior pants. So, yeah, it is working. I started in Feb wearing 18 to 20 W. So this is great! My belly, which is still way too big, at least hangs together instead of flopping over the waist bands. I was looking at myself last night, (which I've tried not to do for a long time) My belly is getting way less lumpy. Even though there's still too much, it's not as soft and fluffy. There's actually some tone to it. My daughter is really impressed with my arm muscles. So those resistance bands really are worth the pain. When I look at myself from the front, I actually do have the waist smaller than hips and chest, kinda curvy in a good way. I still have a long way to go, but I do feel that I'm making progress. I've done 2 1/2 weeks, so I'm actually looking forward to taking those "After" pictures in 3 1/2 more weeks. I'm really glad Misplaced Southerner and others started this. I hadn't been able to talk myself into regular exercise, just sporadic walking and an occasional video. Regular exercise sure makes a difference.
Have a great day and a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

I love wallyworld! They have some really cute clothes! I plan an entire shopping spree once I hit my goal weight…at wallyworld and khols! I can’t really afford to run out to Dillards or the other overpriced malls stores but no one will know the difference. I too can’t wait to take my after pictures.

I also really want to thank misplaced southerner for starting this challenge. By helping (don’t know how much help I really am) you look hot in your wedding dress I am helping myself look hot in a bikini (said with fingers crossed). And thanks to skinnymom for all your help and info on the slim in 6 workout. I would have never known about it if it were not for yall. I would still be running on that evil treadmill when I didn’t have a random excuse not too. This is the most exercise I have done in forever, so really – thanks guys!

good morning caryl, dixie and skinny!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS I WANNA THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR POSTS....cuz you girls ROCK and i needed YOUR motivation this morning!!!! i was in laguna beach this weekend with friends. i did not gain but i did not lose and the only exercise i got was walking....so today i am sitting here on my patio debating the 3rd slim in 6 video from heck..yes or no? and you make me definitely say YES! do it and get it out of the way for the day and move along to the pool!

i was feeling a little blue last night. our friends took lots of pix this weekend. and well, i did not SEE the changes in the photo that i see in my own mirror, or tape measure or clothes...why? is it just me always THINKING i look like that? or do i really have that much more work to do? when i met my fiance i weighed 152 and i looked and felt really great. i am not that far away now...so why do i not feel the same? aarrggh! i told him i am not looking forward to being the center of so many photos just yet......well i still have 5 weeks to go. and the funny part is this....my measurements are not that far off from when i was 152. half an inch in my arms and half an inch in my hips. ok then so maybe it is my HEAD that is fat....ha h ah ah ah!!!

i am glad we are ALL here doing this together...you guys motivate ME all the time....yee-ha! and glad you are having fun shopping for new things. that is so cool. pretty soon we are going to all be running around in our little jeans with our tight booties, flat tummies, looking lean and mean......for NOW,,,i am gonna go and sport my shorts, yucky t-shirt and tennis shoes and get down and crazy with the squat ****.....see ya'll soon!

Hi everyone! Sorry about being MIA this past week. That's what happens when I let my hubby rearrange bedrooms, furniture, computers, etc. The project started last weekend and ended up taking longer than he expected, but it finally got finished today so here I am.

I am so glad you guys are making lots of progress and seeing results!! EXCITING!! I am making little progress as I have kind of petered out the last couple of weeks but I am refocusing again tomorrow. Actually, I have seen and felt a dramatic difference in my muscles even though I've fumbled around. My whole lower body is firmer and my quads are MUCH bigger than they were a few weeks ago. Today, I didn't do the video but did some unplanned running. I walked to the park with my 3 year old daughter and we decided to "race" bakc and I ended up jogging 1/5 of a mile WITHOUT huffing and puffing. I haver NEVER been able to do that. In fact, I think my body was just starting to really warm up to it when I got home. It just gave me more steam to get back on track. That's why I really do love this particular video: I can fiddle and fart around with it and STILL see really good results.

Glad to see you back, Misplaced Southerner!

I'm glad we're an inspiration. I didn't feel too inspired yesterday after my first "Burn it up". Oh, man! She goes so fast! I was kind of discouraged because I didn't feel like I did near as much as I thought I could. However, after reflection, I figured out that Ramp it up was really tough the first week, too. It took the whole 2 weeks to feel good about doing it. Sunday, our last day of ramp it up, I did all the push ups, the real way, not the sissy way. I was so tired on Burn that I couldn't even do the push ups. 3 weeks ago, I could only do 3 push ups, so I've come a long way. There's no telling what will happen the next 3 weeks. I was also kinda bummed because I gained a pound this last week. I didn't think I'd messed up Atkins, so I decided to measure. I lost an inch in my hips in 1 week! So, I guess it's fat turning to muscle that's the problem, and I'm not going to whine about that!

Glad to see you back, Slimndown. Seems like projects always grow more than anticipated. Glad you're feeling stronger and doing more! Stick with us and we'll be strong and awesome together!

Everybody have a good day and keep it up!
